  • 4:05, teachin me how to dougie

  • Great video, includes a lot of stretches I didnt know about!

  • 1:27 running ass first into an erect penis

  • Does this follow accordingly?

  • Dynamic Stretching is the best! increases power and strength alot faster than static stretches. Plus static stretches can cause injuries because muscle spindles are inhibited and doesnt feel it when you're pushing your body too hard. Static is good for AFTER physical activity not before or during.

  • WHY THE F**K?

    WHO THE F**K ?

    HOW THE F**K?

    WTF?

I cannot believe that someone posted a video showcasing themselves doing physical education...

    like the skipping

    GAY

  • lolwut?

  • Great warm uo.Short stretches are the way to go pre match or pre training.Never do static stretching pre match or pre training.

  • These look like great warm up exercises but I'd look like a fool at the gym doing these before a pick up basketball game.

  • @Jshect

Maybe, but you wouldn't be the guy tearing his hamstring after 15 minutes :P

  • Wow look at how many people liked this , well I didn't

  • My odysseyware actually linked me to a youtube video for school :P

  • Would this be a warmup? Or to be done after a workout as an actual stretch? Does this increase flexibility?

  • lol

  • you look like such a nob

  • great video....i should have been strecthing like this instead of staticly strecthing..that would have saved me from knee injury!

  • @bochka Same thing happened to me i regret not stretching :(

  • i like this warm up but how long should a single stretching unit take? e.g. the high knee lateral run...

  • its good but there ae better ways of stretching

  • @CheatleQuest Such as?

  • Yeah, he's actually the mascot......likes to pretend he's on the team, bless him...... mimics the players warm up from the sideline, wearing his pink elephant suit....

  • nazi training

  • good stuff

  • Inchworm looked like a mutha! Gotta try it!

  • Thank ya

  • why r u humping the floor dude?

  • u just embarassed yourself mattee

  • I just now learned about dynamic stretching. Thank you so much for this straight forward video!

  • I'm a fastpitch softball coach and was trained with static stretching, but after months of research have learned that static stretching does nothing in prepartion for an athletic event. Dynamic stretching is the best way to warm up your muscles and get oxygen flowing to your tissues and throughout your body....

  • Thanks for posting, these are some great ideas. I'm a dance instructor and I'm really interested in incorporating dynamic stretches into my warm-up. Many of these can be modified to work very well in a dance class.

  • Check out:

    AET Fitness

  • There are some pretty good moves in this dynamic stretching routine. I would add a twist with your upper body during the "spiderman stretch"; also try the single leg bent over move for the hamstrings--backwards, it is much more effective backwards reaching out same arm/same leg.

  • You must be either Brasilian or Eukranian to be so moronic. I hope you're glad knowing you are so fucking moronic.

  • No U are faggotry. Fucking moron.

  • is he blake griffin :P

    :D:D

  • o.O

Looks like the goose step at 0:50

Is this a joke or for real....?

  • We use many of these in TKD. Some are agility more than stretching though. Good stuff.

  • Comment removed

  • are there any dynamic stretching for the arms?

  • Great, this i what you get from Eric Cressey's M² Magnificent Mobility. He goes through ever movements, and gives a thorough explanation of them.(and of course more stuff)

  • does this help to increase height ??

  • I've been looking everywhere for good dynamic stretches. This really helped to give me more ideas, Thanks!

  • I love these! I'll be using them in my presentation tommorow for sure. Thank for uploading!

P.S. My favourite it the push up one. :D

  • very very very very foool

  • Should you do all of these stretches each time you work out, or are some of them just redundant stretches that do the same thing?

  • @moohasha A good order to follow for any activity is this:

    - Warm up

    - Active isolated stretching

    - Dynamic stretching

    - Activity

    - Cool down

    - Static stretching

  • @brockadile6 so helpful!

  • Is this kind of stretching good to do if you just need to do some stretching for regular exercise?

  • Depends on what your doing.

If you just want to improve flexibility then do normal static stretching. Dynamic stretching is highly recommended before playing sports, working out, or exercising. But, only do static stretching after your activity as a "cool down" to prevent soreness.

  • Thank you for the video!

  • good video thanks

  • this is actually a stretching routine for basketball players., right? Could somebody show a nice dynamic stretching video for a bodybuilder's warm-up?

  • Actually, we use this in all of our varies athletics programs and that includes our acvanced strength classes.

  • I just graduated a 9 month personal fitness trainer school. I'll be taking the NSCA here soon. We did most all of these dynamic stretches before we worked out. Then after the workout we did static stretching.

  • @kateinnh What is this faggotry?

  • @ArmoredFelix working out is faggotty to you? wow what planet do u live on dip shit.

  • @kateinnh Actually this doesn't warm up the upper body sufficiently. Something like IYTL with spinal flexion and extension should be included before weight training.

  • Most of them looked quite gay when I first saw them, but when I actually did them I found out they're actually a LOT more helpful than they seem!

Always warm up & stretch before exercising.

  • fucking awesome ,simple

  • Nice one man, helped me a lot. Keep up the training.

  • Feedback appreciated!

  • what are some of the beginner strecthing for running,, i am a little over weight and want to get into jogging,, can u send me some techniques?? thanks

  • always warm up b4 any exercise and after warm up u could either do this dynamic stretching shown here or static stretching than u do ur jog after jog cool down then static stretching, i recommend jogging every day for 15-45 minutes i go 30 mins every day but its a great exercise for weight loss...if u need any more tips mssg me

  • @kateinnh what are some of, if any, cons of dynamic stretching?

  • Thanks for this posting. I can never remember them and this is a wonderful review!

  • ma sta scherzando !!!!!!!!!! ma daiiiii

  • Thanks for the positive feedback!

  • this is exactly what I was looking for, thanks!

  • thanks for posting video, jolly interesting! I hope you gave the young man a cookie after, or maybe a pumpkin seed as it's healthier. Great video, many thanks!

  • Thanks for posting the vid. This is exactly what I was looking for when someone recommended I fit in some dynamic stretching before some faster speed work in my running training!

  • Have fun with this!

  • Thanks for posting! I am working on teaching stretching techniques right now :)

  • I'm cheering you on! Thanks for your positive comment. I want to do an upgrade of this. Good feedback helps to motivate me.

    Kate

  • i really appreciate you uploading this video,

you see m trying to be like my idol "Bruce Lee"

so a friend told me this would help so I'm trying my best :)

    hjimenez90

  • My highschool summer workout program uses quite a few of these for our warmup,

    nice video

    5/5

  • Thanks - it seems to have helped a lot of people. Makes me happy.

    Kate

  • Very nice video!! :D

I use this to help me warm-up for soccer!

    It helps a lot

  • Ministry of Silly Walks

  • I read that article, too. Thanks for the comment. Glad that you found the video.

  • A recent finding published in NYT found that static stretching (that is, the long stretching done before workouts) is bad for you, and suggested dynamic stretching instead. Had no idea what it was until I found this vid. Thanks a lot dude.

  • learn the names of the stretches, it sounds like you just described them based on what they look like

  • Sorry - that's what we call them. Are there other names for me to "learn"?

  • sorry if i seemed rude, I call the first two A step and A skip. There are two more called B step and B skip that involve a rotation/cyclical motion. Lunges we call lunges, and we do cyclicals (combination of high-knees and buttkicks)

These are for track and cross country, as they are mainly running motions.

It just seemed as i was watching the video to learn some new ones that they were named like the anteater was named

  • we do dynamic streching in my basketball practices and its really good and helps ;)

  • this used to be popular in the 90's or 80's but went into decline when people overdid it and began tearing muscles

  • False.

  • is this good for martial artists ?

  • good for any sport

  • @RespIendency even bboyin? i need to know plz

  • thanks, nice warm up

  • If you hate them, I hope that they will, at least help you to win!

  • We have to do this in track now

  • it seems fun though

  • Good luck in your season!!!

  • i hav to do all those streches in softball! meany!

  • keep working at it, it looks like your lateral movements need a little work, but if you are doing this consistently u should be alright. in martial arts the flexibility in the hips is crutial. i think its safe to say the same for many sports like tennis, soccer, football, and hockey

  • good stuff...but i wuldnt say its dynamic stretching..i would rather call it dynamic warm up before any rigrous workouts...we do more of this as warm ups in boxing

  • pojebane jak cała ameryka

  • Yup! Thanks!

  • Yes - it's good to do before ANY physical activity. In fact, it's good to do just by itself if that's all that you have time for!

  • Is this good to do before running?

  • We done that 2day in PE, Sweeny, Pete and Steveo looked like right spa's! haha

  • special ed pe!

  • Giving someone a smile is always a good thing!

  • im not going to lie, i laughed my ass off at nearly all of these, they reminded me of the "ministry of silly walks" sketch from monty python. still, i think they're much better than the stretching i've been doing, and i'll probably end up using all of these stretches at some point.

  • I walked down the street on the way to the gym doing these exercises and got my ass beat by a group of high school kids. I lost one of my shoes too.

  • Kate, isn't that knee jarring? Especially the hops.

  • Excellent job!

  • Wat abt the upper body? Any tips?

  • Dis for running and jumping

  • zrob pale dla pani co mowi ;d ehehe jazda

  • Some of these are really good, some of them I wouldn't personally do because they aren't getting much of a stretch(Though they are good for warming up). In that case I'd probably just do a real light jog.

  • Funny! Did you see the article in the New york Times on this? It's entitled, Phys Ed: Stretching: The Truth. It is currently listed on their list of most e-mailed articles list. It is good confirmation of the validity of this program. You may want to have a couple of copies on hand in case your players have any questions!

    Kate

  • My cricket team starts indoor training next weekend, and they are gonna hate you for this, Kate.

I (their coach), on the other hand, thank you!

  • so is it dynamic before the workout and static afterwards? do you still do dynamic if your going to run?

  • Dynamic before and static afterwards - if you do it at all. The reason to do static stretching is b/c it feels good. There is no performance or injury prevention benefit of any measurable consequence from static streching AND most people overstretch risking injury.

  • I agree with just about everything except with your opinion on the purpose of static stretching. Static stretching is still a great post-workout cool-down as it increases safe range of motion and expedites recovery.

  • cool. will try these.

  • I only put up an argument because the other guy had a HOLIER than though approach where he acted like some sort of expert on the matter. So I tested his knowledge and asked him to back up his claims. When I asked for references he provided zero scientific studies. If you can't provide evidence then don't talk shit and demean others IMO.

  • guys I never said I didn't agree with dynamic stretching. I call them drills instead of stretches, because that's really what they are. My only criticism was in some of those "stretches" it would be really easy to pull a muscle or tear a tendon - even if you don't realize you have done that. My argument is with the execution, not the theory.

  • There are differences between dynamic movements and dynamic stretches, both are included in a dynamic warm-up. If you're afraid of injury from a dynamic warm-up I would love to see what your "intense" workouts are like.

  • my highschool coach started us on something like this my senior year in track and my speed exploded and I wents to states for my event. Now in college my team is in the dark ages of static stretching and it completely SUCKS!!!! Its pissing me off because its killing my speed. I just dont know how someone can ignore the science behind it and not do it.

  • people need to understand that there is no reason you should STATIC stretch before or during exercise/competition. Studies show it DOES NOT prevent injury or reduce soreness, it decreases muscle eccentric strength and power by 8%, and decreases coordination of explosive movements.

What you see in this video is the proper way to prepare your body.

  • that's great, but you have no idea what you're talking about. Where are these "studies"?

btw I do dynamic stretches, but certainly not the ones shown here.

  • You are a complete fucking idiot and you have seriously just fucked up. They are peer reviewed scientific studies in medical and sports journals! I've read them with my own eyes. Go to a library and search a database you dumbass.

  • Yes I know you know everything because you are so smart. Sorry I bothered your perfect little life where you can cite references that aren't available via the entire internet.

  • Hes right

    Static stretching is for idiots.

  • The exercises shown here are the exact ones used in any division IA or professional strength and conditioning program. The guy didn't just make them up.

  • I never said he made them up, you did that yourself. I said I did DIFFERENT dynamic stretches that are more natural and put softer tension on the ligaments. As you may know since your probably a doctor who likes to demean others with crude language, many injuries are from improper stretching rather than the lack of it.

  • no offense but these drills like you would be more likely to pull a muscle than stretch it.

  • Dynamic stretching is good for short term, Static stretching is probably what you would like which is for long-term flexibility. This kind of stretching is good prior to competition.

  • no offense but you have no idea what you are talking about.

  • well i don't know about other people, but when you "jerk" a muscle the way this guy is it seems like it would tear the muscle tissue rather than stretch it.

  • Ok, I train with weights ,and few months now I am interested in stretching.I used some static stretching and improved my ROM into most exercises such as squat, and my recovery time also.I would like to ask:are ballistic stretches(the extension of dynamic) going to be beneficial for better weight training performance in long terms or going to stress the muscles and tendons even more. Are static and some dynamic stretches enough to prevent from injury and increase recovery time. Thank you :)

  • its great exercise for the people tall (basquet), and big...good video

  • Do you improve you flexbility, with these exercises?

  • whats the recommended #steps / duration for each exercise?

    thanks

  • Great question. Depending on the level of your athletes, 50 yards for a field sport team or the length of a basketball court. Doing them properly at a slow speed is important.

    Kate

  • what was that stretch called at 2:25?

  • That was cut off - it's called Spiderman.

    Kate

  • hahahaha thats what i was thinking

  • well done :)

  • Is it Stretching???

  • Yes it is. It's just not the usual static stretching. It stretches all muscles and combines that with a motion warm up.Much more time efficient.

  • hey.. This stretching is just awesome.. Great job..

  • interresting - thanks !

  • actually these are very good for ground based martial arts...

  • muy buenos ejercicios si señor

  • Yeah half those aren't stretches they are warm-ups. The second to last was a crypt walk, keep it gangsta.

  • lol thats true hes killin the crypt walk

  • Stretching is stretching. The only specificity is whether you are doing upper or lower body. Stretching aids in movement, regardless of the sport or activity.

  • Is this for real? It looks a real world version of Monty Python's skit "Ministry of Silly Walks" that's here on Youtube. Check it out. (IqhlQfXUk7w)

  • That is very funny! And you're right - very similar. Thanks for the smile!

    Kate

  • I am a Kick Boxing instructor and i am always looking to improve my exercise routine particularly the stretching exercises as i have many different age ranges from 6-66 and also have a fighters class which means i can be more specific with my training the exercises shown seem good and i will have a go at implementing them in my class.

  • Hi - thanks for your comments.I hae been asked many times about how this routine can be sport specific modified. This is missing the point, I think. Regardless of your sport, the whole body needs to be stretched and exercised. If sport specific is too strongly the focus, the injury potential is increased.

  • Yah coach!!!

  • its for basketball

  • its for WARM UP

  • Hey, what is this streatching for? What could I see an improvment in if I did these?

    For basketball, taekwondo, running what?

  • sum good ones..nice...

  • Wow! We've gone international. Cool!!

  • I guess this is a b-ball derived warm-up, but also extremely valuable for track and field warm-up...! Gonna embed the link on my athletics club website- westsuffolkac . co. uk- Any other tips appreciated Thanks friends across the pond!

  • its funny but it helps

  • thanks very much indeed for sharing this video; very informative and valuable; formidable

  • Thanks very much for your feedback. Glad to share this good stuff.

  • leg nevah did too straight pan di straight leg

  • Good set. I used to do a bunch of these for my Judo classes. Every instructor uses a different combination and variation, of course.

  • a few of them seem to me like tough cardio workout, but i guess the more extreme the movements become they can be stretches. great video, i will include a lot of this in my training!

  • Thanks! These are great

  • And thanks for your positive comment!

    Kate

  • i assume these routines are best for my sport (table tennis) but i cant help but feel silly about doing some of them >_<
