Hey everybody! I have released my new album 'Progenitor' which has electronic music inspired by great games such as Illusion Of Gaia. It’s up on my channel ORTmusic to check out and download!
The graphics were awful, but the game was awesome. I loved the storyline and the characters, this was a fun game. I wish they would make games like this for the PS3. So many times you give up gameplay for graphics. Am I strange to want both?
This game is so wonderful and amazing. It is really the best game I've ever played. Fuck up all the Ps3 Games these days, THIS is a game... And, the music.. ... so awesome. I liked the story of this game, even if it was a bit scary in times of my childhood. But this game is so exiting!!! Greets
@Lumosy that's right...it made me cry a lot when i was young...and it still does...this game sucks you in the world it is and you can feel it as it is =)
This game was so interesting. It didn't have the best story, graphics or sound... or even music~ but what it did have was a collage of uniqueness that gave this game a special feel all to its own. There are few games that illicit the 'feeling' Illusion of Gaia gives. It's oddness, strange pace, and lonesome adventure that spanned the globe makes this one of the better RPGs of our time.
One of my favorite games, this was the time when the RPGs had this special something to them, which is lost in modern games. 90s were the best, i grew up with these great games.
One of my favorite games as a young kid. Even at 25 now, I still love the music composed in this game. On a side note: I still don't feel guilty looking at a guide for all the red jewels; those things were *** hard to find!
This is going to sound really strange, but as far as atmospheric music goes...but does 1:15 through 2:49 sound similar to "Rockin' Back Inside My Heart" by Julee Cruise, from Twin Peaks? It has that same feeling of sadness and unfortunate loss? It's just a thought, and a fond memory from a time when games were interesting and emotionally involving...when we played because we loved them, not because they looked good.
I learned some things from this game. Like about Angkor Wat and the Nazca Lines, and the lost city of Mu. Plus I was so young so I picked up some words to add to my vocabulary from this game too.
This is quite literally my favorite game of all time. I played this game for the first time when I was six; I still continue to play it to this day and have the cartridge in storage somewhere. I don't even have a SNES anymore, but I still kept that cartridge.
The music to this game reminds me of my entire childhood and I will continue to cherish it for many years to come.
I never thought of this relevant to legend of zelda, until I read comparisons. There was something missing imo;it was one of the underrated gems of snes, anybody who played knew that. I want to see this on Virtual Console of Wii OR remake on any of the newer consoles!
I wish they made more games like this nowadays. I've played all the new ps3 and 360 rpgs, but nothing really compares to the feeling I got when I first played this game. Such a shame that developers and designers just focus on graphics for the newer generation of gamers.
@LotusElise05 Wish there was some sort of online petition to bring this into todays console. PS3 would be amazing for this sort of game imo,but to have it on virtual console on wii would be great too!
Illusion of Gaia, is perhaps the best non-Zelda game on the SNES. The atmosphere, the music, the story, the characters, the graphics, the entire game is developed with one key ingredient, LOVE. If the developers of this game had not put their heart and soul into this game, then it would have been as bland the games of today.
This game was pretty amazing. Enix's 16-bit output to me never quite gets the same respect here in the U.S. that Square's do nowadays. Granted, they didn't have the same volume of output, but what did come forth was amazing. Actraiser, anyone?
I can't believe more people don't talk about the music of this (aside from the game being great). I really would put this alongside Zelda and Final Fantasy as having one of the best soundtrack in the history of gaming.
This a Legendary RPG some of the music makes me feel sad and cry. I think about my best friend Franky. We use to always play the games together and beat them ALL. R.I.P. Daniel Ira Taylor AKA FRANK DOG BKA DOZHA KID
............O_O.....babel tower hits me hard....i also love shipwreck, ending 1, ending 3. and the most soothing are legacy of the ancients and memory revealed. ^^ thanks for bringin back the memories. i listen to spc now and so on
The more I think about it, the more I don't one specific game as my favorite. But if I have to say something, I'll cop out the original Super Mario Bros.
If you're talking traditional RPG, I'd have to go with Golden Sun. I love it lots. But anything that can go under that genre of "RPG" I'd say Illusion of Gaia.
There are only about a half-dozen games that I could play over and over again and still love, and this is definitely on that list! I wish they'd rerelease it for a modern console, its too hard to find it or a SNES.
The actual gameplay might not have been as good as other SNES classics, but man, the developers were clearly masters of storytelling. You don't see stories in modern games have this much of an impact on your thoughts and emotions.
Anyone know what the developers of this game are doing right now? It's kind of odd that you don't hear much about them nowadays, given their quality work during this gaming era.
@Alilatias I disagree actually. I think the many powerups Will has to find and use along with the ability to play as Freeden and Shadow are what make this game enjoyable in spite of its confusing and meandering storyline.
Wow...I loved this game as a young child (particularly the earlier parts), and I think you may have just rekindled my love for it with this video. Though the text and color scheme may date it a bit, this remains one of my favorite action-RPGs of all time.
This is a great Game, its not that it had a Great story or Battle seans, but it had a kind of atmosphere to it that made it feel so "spectacular" (^.^)
i agree, atmosphere is one of the key things to making an RPG shine, also the music that comes along with it. indeed an amazing game and full of wonders and mystique, one of my favorites for the snes and in general.
This is a fun game. But I wouldn't say it's a great game. I got this as a present when it first came out (it even came with a T-shirt), and It was kind of disappointed in that you couldn't revisit anywhere and the game itself was kind of short. And what pissed me off most was that, after getting all of the red jewels and beating the secret boss, NOTHING HAPPENS. Good game, but can't compare to SoM, Chrono Trigger, ff4/6, ect.
Yeah, I loved this game when I was younger. In college, I brought it up to another gamer, and he told me that it's not that good of a game and listed well thought out reasons. I was dumbfounded and devastated.
This is my favorite game. Ever. I would personally send a thank you note to every single member of the staff if I could. There is nothing which even comes close to matching the atmosphere created by this game. A masterpiece.
This was definitely unique, I got it for my 9th birthday I believe, and it was awfully cool becoming Freedan, but sucked that all the other characters did nothing to help.
okay, when i tried to beat the first boss, i got SOO mad because i didnt know that you had to hit his head after his hands....i died at least 75 times before i finaly gave up and looked for help.
I know this probably sound very stupid, but whats the difference between Illusion of Gaia and Illusion of Time? I have only played Illusion of time thats why...
Love this game, for me one of the best games ever made. Play through every now and then, because the story, gameplay and music are just great and unforgetable!
oh my god! this game is amazing, i have just got on the ship, then i took a rest and woke up and everyone is dead and there are skeletons everywhere, its truly incredible!
i just bought this game, well illusion of time, the pal version for £20 boxed with instructions, and im really enjoying it so far! i like that the instructions have a game guide in so if you get stuck on a puzzle you can look at the manual to get help!
Yeah, Illusion of Gaia was the second game of the three game series. Terranigma was the third, but for some reason never saw North American release. It was only released in Japan and England.
i miss this game so much...my brother gave some of the best SNES games ever to his college friend. this game, Crono Trigger, and Shiaolin Showdown are the best video games ever made for the SNES!!
Apparently it was all just an illusion... the game took place during modern times, the comet just changed the way reality looked... That is what the message at Angor Wat meant apparently.
What a great game! This is still one of my fav games. I love the music in this game. I had to get this game. I still have it sitting in ny stack of all the best SNES game ever made.
lol even though alot of people could hate this game, I think the reason I like it so much is cause I grew up playing it, And It was a great memory, I think thats what makes a good game also.
Great Game, Great Music, And fucking amazing graphics for its time. Still looks very good today, and has a story that will live on forever. Hearing this music reminds me of first grade.
to another adventure into wills next incarnation or something,
some how i get the feeling even if they souped it up and stuff it loose it's sentimental value, and the way square enix is going it seems like there more for the money nowadays, than creating quality game's, they'd probably forget about the original vision of the creators idea and try to milk for money,
It did have a Squeal, and a Pqueal. lol Sorry I couldn't resist. The precurser to this game was Soul Blazer, then Illusion Of Gaia, and finally Terranigma. While you're at it, you might want to check out other Quintet/Enix games like the Actraiser games.
This game had some of the most memorable scenes of those days... Hamlet the pig sacrificing itself, the raft in the open sea, that friend of yours that has turned into a huge fish and communicates through a wall, etc. Great memories!
this is absolutly one of the best games on nes i love it and often played it some years ago but still try it out now and then, they got rly nice music on it too! very nice and butiful! 5/5!!

To this very day I still don't understand what was the point of that boy being transformed... So odd to me.

Do you know Soul blazer, Illusion of Gaia and Terranigma are a trilogy?

It's a possibility that ActRaiser might be a part of that as well since Soul Blazer is sent to the Earth by The Master...
