  • I'd just like to say this has been a favourite short of mine for quite a while. You've really got to put up a higher quality version!

  • @jefftheworld You're totally right, this is six years old now! Back then I got compliments on the quality I managed to upload! I think we were restricted to about 250mb per video! I'll see if I can get a better version up.

  • Hey I like ths guy, he is a kinda james bondy type of guy. It actually looks like it was taking from a tv program!! When is part 2 coming out? I actually think there is market for a hitman or women series, it would be fun to make and watch!!!

  • Despite what others may say, I enjoyed it.

  • who the hell did flag an ACTION MOVIE?!?

  • I know! He's only talking about anal sex, you can't see anything!

  • yo man this is a skilled movie making even though this shit is like 15 min it great enough for me to say 2 thumbs up

  • i think it would've been better if you put it bigger and louder gun shots. ooh... and more blood. you can't have enough blood :D

  • yup theres never such a thing as enough blood :)

  • "The rifle itself has no moral stature, since it has no will of its own. Naturally, it may be used by evil men for evil purposes, but there are more good men than evil, and while the latter cannot be persuaded to the path of righteousness by propaganda, they can certainly be corrected by good men with rifles."

    -Col, Jeff Cooper

    (Look it up)

  • Both of you need to look up KillaxNagato hes the only one that can be trusted with a Gun and Mr Gween Bunny, thats about it everyone else wud just start shooting each other LOL, but seriously i think if we need to get rid of guns we shud all just go back to the samurai/ninja timez were i can shine my skills as a katana user and killing people will actually take skill instead of a little kid who can press a trigger to kill an adult, sounds proper what do u think???

  • I think that it it takes plenty of skill to use a firearm expertly. I do think that the knife and sword have their place. The Filipino Marines still use them to great effect against the Moro. It is much more difficult to use a knife or sword than the fanboys perpetually jerking off to manga realize, and there is nothing particularly special about the katana's design. Just hype.

If you want to see good gun handling from Hollywood, I recommend Michael Mann's movies Heat and Collateral.

  • oh yeah for sure in that sense where you need to kill someone fomr a certain range yeah it does take skill and i wud know all about becuz im nagato the hitman, LMAO youre pretty funny haha but yeah there isnt much to it but i like it :)!!!!!

  • Glad that I amuse you.

If you're such an expert hit man, just remember not to use lead bullets in your Glock. It could take your hand off.

  • i already know that but i appreciate the warning, thank you!!!!

  • brilliant

  • By the way, shooting cast lead bullets through a GLOCK can lead to catastrophic failure of the weapon, and is contraindicated by the manufacturer. Use only jacketed rounds from a reputable manufacturer.

The magazine was also obviously aftermarket. Anyone concerned with the ultimate in reliability would certainly eschew aftermarket magazines for the GLOCK, and only use well-maintained OEM magazines.

  • Interesting movie. The gun stuff was a little off, not only in the details of the weapons, but also in how the actor handled them. Neither are uncommon. I always get a laugh out of "hard boiled" characters holding weapons like it's their first time. Things like flinching, blinking, bad stance, and lack of follow through always give the actor away as a tyro. I think actors that are going to handle guns should go to a quality shooting academy for at least a week.

  • agreed with some of the above comments, make jason the target. perhaps not the target of just one hitman. make a smoking aces feel to it, with several teams going in to try to eliminate the target first to get the pay off, only to have them eliminate themselves, leaving only 1 or 2 to deal with jason himself.

  • very nice, man

  • I wish you would of done some research. The snipers "techniques" are all wrong. Its mote myth than anything else.

  • what do you mean?

  • How did you do the exterior night shot near the beginning, when he's opening the door? It looks like you shot it during the day and used a filter, but I can't tell.

  • It was shot during the day, and probably with some filters. We didn't have the resources to have actual lights outside to film during the night, so we had to do it day for night.

  • Good video. Really enjoyed it. Only comments I can make are firearm things. Well, the first is metallurgical. Springs don't lose their compression strength from staying compressed or uncompressed (It's matter of creep in the metal).Magazines can be left loaded.

Check into the in-the waist band holsters. They are probably the best way to conceal a firearm and it's what I use.

I don't understand some people's comments against Glock. Any gun can be silenced by installing a threaded barreling

  • absoloutely brilliant lead man, and i love the dialog throughout :)

    can't wait for a sequel

  • I've come up with a concept of doing a series of shorts about this character. So we get to see more detail in some of the aspects of his job as basically a Mercenary. Sometimes he's being paid to do something for good, other times for bad. The first I've written is about what makes him bad. Is it what you do? Your thoughts? Your circumstance? Isn't being bad just according to certain rules we have made? I'm going to call the series, Freelancer.

  • @RickBush sounds brilliant be sure to let people know when it is being aired

  • Let me ask you guys? What kind of situation would you like to see him in? He doesn't care about anyone but himself. What situation hasn't been done before with that type of character?

  • make a story with another Hitman both trying to kill each other. some sort of a game.

  • Haven't seen him actually lose a fight. Ever. No hitman ever dies in a movie about the hitman.

  • Day of The Jackal? As soon as I do a feature, I'll kill him off! It'll be awesome.

  • Awesome dude. Really well made, great character, I hope ya do more with him

  • wow this vid was great.

  • Cheers guys, really appreciate the kudos.

  • Great film. Perhaps you should consider a completely new concept, maybe like a bachelor such as Alfie.

  • Excellent. Make a full length?

  • Excellent work, Rick. If you made a feature-length film about Jason Blaine, I'd definitely watch it.

  • brilliant!!

  • "Mark" not "target"!

  • While filming or before filming and thinking of the idea , u forgot to major rules of a professional hitman..

    1. Targets are never women or childern

    2. You never shot the target in the head.. because then the person who sent you wont be able to identify the target meaning you could have killed anybody..!

  • if ur a professional you do it for money and don't give a fuck if woman or child.. it's sad but look at the daily news.. people do kill women and children

and a shot in the the head still let you identify the victim... not a shot in the face maybe but the forehead should be ok

  • Leon isn't the bible of how to be a hitman.

  • How the f*** did u know lol

Great Video anyways..btw what was the video editing software used in Anatomy of a Shoot Out?

  • I am all knowing about these things Tony. Anatomy was done in Final Cut Pro, with some elements imported from iMovie I think.

  • cool then if u are knowing of these things tell me if i should make a chicken sandwhich now or turkey sandwhich? __

    ROFLOLMAO (**) (><)

  • Well it depends Tony, Chicken is a lot more dryer than Turkey and usually goes well with some lettuice or something. Also are they fresh breast meat or are they that processed stuff? I think this decision is best left to you pal.

  • your an idiot the assassin if they are any good will do whatever they are payed to do and they do tend to shot the mark in the head as any punture of the brain will result in death and getting shot in the head ist like in the movies the head doest exploded from a 9mm bulllet a shotgun perhaps

  • where is the magizine on the rifle

  • I do somewhat agree with some comments here... The Glock is a strange weapon to use, being unsilenced and all... My first inclination is to suggest a Ruger, but that seems too... Low powered for Blaine here.

  • My suggestion would be an H&K MK23, which fires a .45 ACP round, which is indeed subsonic and can be silenced, but is also certainly powerful enough for Blaine's purposes. Plus, while the SOCOM MK23 is U.S. military only, H&K offers a high-priced civilian model as well, which is something of a status symbol among gun owners, due to the high price ($2,000+). A gun Blaine could be proud of.

  • Interesting, i'll look into that.

  • Don't bother ... the MK23 is a freaking huge weapon. About the size of a Desert Eagle and that's already been discussed and shot down (no pun intended) previously.

  • slight problem the ammunition of a mk 23 is not localy produced in the uk hence the reason why the brits didnt

    use tommy guns

  • Ah, I did not think of that one. Fair enough, that would certainly make it a less-than-ideal weapon.

  • The Brits used Tommy guns in scads during the War.

The problem with the H&K MK 23 is that it is fucking HUGE! Good luck carrying it concealed. It weighs 2.43, unloaded. The Glock 17, by contrast, weighs 1.38 pounds, more than a pound less. That's a significant weight on ones pants!.

  • they did use them but it was more the joint ops with th americans that they uesd it on

  • I understand that the Thompson was very popular with the SAS in North Africa.

  • perhaps i should have worded myself better i meant british use as a whole sure special forces groups probably would have used but hey my fault

  • wow, the stuff you get away with on youtube. great movie.

  • The commentary on the Glock made me smile (actually, I found the whole movie pretty funny, in the good sense).

"It won't set off any metal detectors, bullets do and so do the internal working parts of the gun, so I'm not really sure what the big deal is."

I think that a shoulder holster would be a little more "hitman" though, and the second body shot on the girl sounded funny to me... Oh, and that credit music.

Still, great movie. Good acting, good story, good end.

  • why does he get a take a shot from a laser at 5.05?

    it strange.

    everything else looks really good.

  • It looks like a laser gun??

  • I enjoyed this short film Rick. Im an actor myself and at the moment Im shooting my own sitcom which has been picked up. Ive been working on a hitman short for a long time, adding things here and there, good work.

  • That was quality mate. Great stuff.

  • Ooh let's see, Me, DP, Gaffer, Camera, Focus Puller (3 on seperate days), Sound recordest (2), Boom Swinger, Producer, Make Up, Special Effects, Production Designer, Composer, Editor, Online Editor, Dubbing Mixer. Wow, that's 18, more than I thought.

  • o yea one more think that chick that gets killed has got some huge arms

  • Thank you for your comment. The huge arms wil be looked at and if I bring out a special edition I will be sure to use cgi to rectafy this situation. Unless you were saying that you really liked her arms? I personaly can't see what you're saying as I have seen some really huge arms in my time. Usually vigourously jerking my cock. What can I say? I like a bit of meat. As do they.

  • wow you try to make it look hella sick but it really isn't at all

  • Great job - very impressive!

  • WTF?! over 10min! plz! tell me how to do it!

  • You need a Director Profile.

  • A++++++ fookin swweett sex scene was a bit random tho,

  • I was very impressed with this guys, well done!

  • This guy doesn't know jack about guns. Not a big deal, but don't pretend you do, if you don't.

  • Can you gimmie some details?

  • Now THAT was a good movie. Awesome job. Yeah the putting together of the gun from off camera was cool. I agree the sex scene went a bit over the top, but was well made, and good overall. I haven't seen a flick this good in a while. Good job man. =)

  • Hey, that was really good! Great story, well directed and acted, top marks, i was very impressed.

I read a few responses to the sex scene, i do feel it was a bit odd, but i also thought it worked, in keeping in same sense of him telling us about killing, he moved it onto the bedroom, which i liked. But maybe a little too graphic, it would have worked equally i feel it he said one thing, and kept it broad about sex, just a thought.

    Great film though!

  • you guys have absolute talent r u english?

  • Yes, yes we are. Graduated from The London Film School last year and I'm working as an Editor for an adult film company called Relish at the mo.

  • great work guys

  • my favourite shot was when u zoomed in while he was loading the gun and didnt show it being put together. that was classy...we all knew what was going on and didnt need to see it. nice.

i agreed with other posters that the sex scene felt a little forced and took away from the tension. but it was still interesting and really proffesional looking.

  • This is sweet! Super high quality stuff guys!

  • Very nice short, I enjoyed this, which is more than I can say for most of the tripe on YouTube.

Keep it up guys and don't listen to anyone trying to offer you advice - just keep doing what you're doing.

  • briliant short

  • I love this

onthespoke was right about the inaccuracies but other than that this is great

    great job!

  • great short! I think the sex scene is unimportant and kind of stupid, all it does is limit this film's audiences,

However, overall great directing, scriptwriting, and style.

Keep up the good work, can't wait to see what's next!

  • A Desert Eagle (silenced)

  • Are you kidding?? That's not discreet!! You do realise how difficlult that monster would be to conceal right? And it's heavy! And still fucking loud even with a suppressor no doubt!

  • You can't silence a DE. The rounds aren't sub-sonic, so it would still be loud as hell.

  • sex scene was useless and out of order, and also what-ever hitman uses a glock to "take someone out" is pretty much retarded(also no silencer, what an idiot) as for the directing HOLY CRAP it was amazing keep up the good work, and next time talk to someone who knows about guns(such as me lol)

  • What would be your gun of choice?

  • nice short

  • I enjoyed the short, and can see why you did what you did, but next time I'd say to make some contacts at a local police department or weapons manufacturer as to get some technical advice. For a movie based around the profession of killing, there seemed to be a fair amount of falsehoods and inconsistencies.

Cheers though, it came out well.

  • A few comments about evidence posts to this film

Hair itself carries no DNA, only the follicles do. You can, however do a stereoscopic fiber match, but that's the extent of it. Even a hitman with a shaved head can leave behind as much trace evidence as one without any hair at all. A big part of what evidence is left is pure chance.

  • Further,

If you do get a good print on a casing, and fire that round, if the chamber is polished well, as it should be, the grease from the print will burn, but not burn off. It will even sometimes create a usable print on the shell. Secondly, a discarded, fired shell is just as powerful of a peice of evidence in court by way of unique extraction marks, primer composition, and firing pin imprints.

  • Unfortuantely, recovered bullets and shell casings do not always identify a gun. Plus, they need also need to have the gun in their posession to compare it to. The gun needs to leave unique marks and not just normal machine wear. It's quite unlike what you see on CSI or those other crime shows. I believe it was "Understanding Firearm Ballistics" by Rinker that it was discussed in.

  • Haha, very good, and very fun. Would love to see more of this guy :)

  • wow good video, I like the ending, it brings a human aspect into it. everything was realy subjective and tutorialized but at the end he shows a bit of emotion, nicly done.

  • awesome movie Rick. Now i've just got to say, through all of that i had this feeling of the main part beeing a very Sean Bean-ish character. (Guess he's a bit out of your budget ;) , but i think he'd make a marvelous Jason Blaine)

All done, a bloody marvelous film. Well made and edited.

  • That was rediculously good. The only thing that bothers me is not wearing gloves when loading the gun (fingerprints on the casings), but I can't find anything I don't like in the filming. Great job.

  • Get to know your target, yes. Fuck your target the night before and get your DNA in the picture, no. Elementary flaw.

  • I think it would be a cool concept to do a film about Blaine being the TARGET of a hit.

  • Yeah, me too. How would you prepare if you knew someone could be anywhere waiting to kill you?

  • Especially being someone who knows exactly what a good hitman can do. I really look forward to any future installments. Keep up the great work.

  • That guys voice really reminds me of Daniel Craigs. Does anybody think that also?

  • I actually casted him becuase he gave off a James Bond vibe! And that was before Daniel Crag was cast!

  • Hey Rick,

i wanted to say that i really hope you will not make a sequel to this, but just different short films.

Sequels are usually never as good as the original, and when released, they bring the whole image of the movie down.

Its your choice in the end, but i think this is great work, but it doesnt need a sequel...

  • Well let me tell you my idea and you guys tell me what you think. The Title at the mo is Werewolves Of London. And two hitmen bump into each other in a shop. They wonder if each other is there to kill them. After realising it's a ransom encounter they go for a drink, they're the only people they can talk to about they're line of work. But things are about to get out of hand. Because hitmen get bored shooting things that dont shoot back.

  • I really like the idea of them wondering if they are both on to kill each other, sounds like a big suspense part.

But the idea of shooting things sounds just like an action movie...

Anyways, i think that if you really want to film such a movie, then you should at least make it with other actors, so that its not directly related to Semi-Automatic.

  • I want to do an action film which has a meaningful reason for a fight, a build up to two guys shooting each other. It'll be classy, promise. There are a few more chapters in Blaine's life I'd like to film. Him in Jail. Him getting out of Jail aged 60 having become instatutionalised. etc.

  • Hey rick,

i think that would be a horrible idea.

You should not reuse a movie just because its good. It seems like you dont have the creativity to create a new type of movie.

I also think that you should not risk to put down your image, by making a sequel wich is not up to the original.

    Its not worth the risk...

  • I really want to see that it sounds awsome... What if you had them become really good friends and then you find out in the end that one was playing the other the whole time... Then they would both draw there guns at the same time and the one supposedly playing the other gets executed because the other hitman replaced his bullets with blanks... Or maybe a samuri sword fight to the death!

    haha.

  • Not sure I want to go too fantasy with it, at the core of things it's still about how Sociopaths interact with the world around them.

  • awsome video!

are you working on any new caue this was the best video I haven seen on youtube

  • Absolutely Brilliant... It quite possbely may be the best short film I've seen since I started making them myself... The acting was pretty good and I loved the sligth ticks that the guy has like not using the unclean bullet... and The tips on Anal... hahahah.

The only thing I can see changing is the gunshot sound it was a lil off but the rest of the film was spot on... Great work Rick.

  • Thanks dude, appreciate that.

  • lol, "don't what?"

  • Wow, That was Great. Keep it up! :)

    - A GURU WAS HERE

  • This is a AWSOME vid!!!

  • another thing... it seems the credit song is a bit jarring, mood-wise. it goes from a "thinking mans" ending to a happy, upbeat country-esque song. otherwise keep up the good work!

  • My inspiration for the ending is Am American Werewolf in London. Check it out. I think it's good to have some light relief after the depressing ending!

  • quite possibly the best youtube video ive ever seen. one thing- when Fliss and Jason are in the club, its a bit hard to hear what they're saying. i had to crank up the volume all the way to hear. but anyway great vid!

  • I take that back. Grrrrreat film, but the one thing I must really protest is all that 'massaging her flap' bit, I thought just the fast cuts would do tbh. But Apart from that, amazing.

  • Loved it all apart from the 'going down' bit. That was just waaaaaaaaay too unneccesary. The mirror shot was enough to show his craziness. This was trying to be Hitman meets American psycho and no offense, but that bit just ruined it.

  • Sorry you felt that way Jordan. But that was the response I was going for! To him it was nothing, he has no conscience. Good to see you do!

  • yeah, i was reading comments, and when i saw that, i was thinking "what is the point of this?" i think quick cuts of them making love would have been fine. but hey man, i aint the director, and your doin a fine job :)

  • This is honestly one of the best movies I've ever seen on youtube.

  • Thanks Matt, appreciate that. I'll try to keep the quality up! After I edit a comedy I shot 8 years ago but never finished! Hopefully it'll make people smile.

  • very well done. was this filmed proffessionally? if not, then you fucking rule. even if it is, you still fucking rule lol

  • It was shot by me and my very talented friends from The London Film School. We are all starting out in the film industry in some capacity now.

  • best of luck to you guys :) i hope ill be watching your stuff on the big screen soon

  • Bloody amazing! lol nice work

  • Nice one! A little reminiscent of "American Psycho" with the monologues, but that's probably what you were going for. Is Alex Dee related to Jack Dee by any chance? They're kind of similar looking. I'd have maybe tightened some of the edits because a few of the beats felt a little off (e.g. the glance into the broken mirror), but otherwise very solid. I'd be interested in seeing Blaine's character developed from here.

  • Absolutely brilliant. Well written, well acted, all around well executed (In more ways than one).

  • Well, I have to say I really enjoyed Semi-Automatic.

Superb script, well directed, and well shot.

The SFX were great, and Alex Dee, what a great actor....he played the part just right. In some respects his performance was very Bond like....expect to see more of him in the future!!

  • He can crrently be seen in Primeval on ITV!

  • Regardless of all the criticisms (almost any work can use improvements), your piece is a credit to YouTube. Would that all videos here had such high standards of quality.

I especially enjoyed the way he speaks directly to the camera, even while in the throes of sex. It really brings home his unflappable coldness.

  • Thanks pal, appreciate that. Hopefully the sequel I'm planning to shoot this summer will blow you guys away too.

  • Are you an actual famous director or something? This short film was excellent! Keep up the good work.

  • Awesome short film! It goes straight into my favorites list!

  • If you fire a glock at night in someones home without a silencer and think that someone wont notice then your a very brave man.Fair play on some areas though i didnt like the comentary that much.

  • He thinks he's the best. As far as he's concerned he doesn't need one, he's too good. He's done his homework, maybe he knows no-one around is at home yet. And I thought the talking to the camera would highten his narcisism.

  • nice touch as well to have the day shots fade into night as he remembers or imagines what happened earlier.

  • thats fair but i wasnt trying to be critic you made something witch is better than any thing i could do at the moment. I just dont like the voice. thats just my opinion

  • many people say that hitmen should not leave many traces, wich is right, because they might be connected to other hits.

but the thing is that even if they found his hair on the couch they would have nobody to connect it with, so does not have to worry...

  • he better hope she changed her bed sheets. because - no forced entry, which will make the police think it was someone she knows.

  • They fucked at his place.

  • haaa, didnt think of that. cheers.

  • GREAT!!! 5 stars, it's very very awsome

  • Well done. I enjoyed it since I want to be a film maker myself. It had a nice Pulp Fiction or Lock, Stock And Two Smoking Barrels feel to it. You did make many false remarks about firearms and the sniper scene taking out the drug lord was not done right. You should not have been hanging out the window. You stand back from the window a bit so you can still shoot out but are not visible. Really liked the ending.

  • Also if you look carefully, you'll see his scope would be looking into the window jam since the window is almost closed.

  • good film .the bit where he kills her is a beast,

  • err, why is there no magazine in the awp?

  • very good! i liked the 70s syle music and the way everyone had very anal (no pun intended) complaints to make about it

  • BRILLIANT BLOODY MOVIE!

  • The "2 to chest with 1 to head" is called the Mozambique Drill, which addresses the handgun's insufficient ballistics to immediately kill a target unless injury to the nervous system is inflicted.

In a residence, the shooter would likely use a suppressor to silence the report of the weapon. Gunshots that are heard attracts attention.

  • Aside from a couple of minor technical details, that short was pretty good!

The frame of a Glock is a composite polymer and is the only part that can pass a metal detector. Cartridges, the magazine, major mechanical components, the slide, and the barrel are still made of metals and make up the majority of the weapon's mass.

Every pistol is designed to inflict injury, not just the Glock. That's why they are all referred to as weapons.

  • "The frame of a Glock is a composite polymer and is the only part that can pass a metal detector."

Sorry, no. The metal frame rails are embedded in the polymer. Heck, even the serial number is on a metal tag molded into the frame.

  • Yeah, I just realized that.

  • the ending when she asks him what he was saying was very revealing of his... problems...

  • wow, very well done I enjoyed it alot.

  • Good movie, as a whole. Liked how it was so fricking professional.

  • i really enjoyed it.. good job... but as it was said before, i think the explination of all the sex stuff is kinda.. blah.. you should edit it out and just let them have sex... no explinations.

  • I agree wite previous comments, the sex scene is out of context, and does little to explain why jason is so moved after killing Fliss. Find an alternative.

  • Hmm, I think I wanted to say that he wasn't moved at all. Killing her was nothing to him. And that's what really got to him. Yeah i could've done a bit better with that ending. That was the one bit that had so many rewrites!

  • wow. AWESOME! well done.

  • AWSOME! not wat i was expecting! really enjoyed it.

  • AMAZING! Good Job!
