  • Those Phantoms are heavy birds! He carried a lot of energy in that ascent, just beautiful, you have to admire the performance of the F-4, you really do.

  • @VIR092 i wouldn't say too heavy empty weight is a ton lighter then a super hornet, and these babys can go mach 2.2, i have even heard the phantoms are more manuverable then the f-18's and can climb faster, plsu they look and sound badass. Wish we would have just upgraded them and kept using them lol

  • @MrGeforcerFX Hell yes they are, one of the fastest airplanes ever built.

Long live the Phantom, I would love to fly one.

  • @MrGeforcerFX a phantom more maneuverable than a hornet .....are you CRAZY have you never seen a hornert demo just type in swiss F-18 dem and you will see something ,

thats the crazyest shit i ever heard in my life

  • @viperdriver82 i only heard that, these are not fly by wire so they shouldn't fly like that, but there are some computer fly by wire phantoms out there that in theory could out maneuver a hornet, maybe not turn, but dive and climb it would smoke it, also it could run away a lot faster :) super hornet though idk

  • @MrGeforcerFX fly by wire does not make an airplane maneuverable, it is a means of controling inherently unstable aircraft that are made unstable in order to make them more maneuverable ie. putting fly by wire on a phantom will not make it more maneuverable.....there are lots of planes with fly by wire that can't out maneuver a hornet A320 B777 :)

  • @viperdriver82

Or Super Hornet. I would like to see any F-4 try to stay in the air at 100 kts.

  • @Skippy585 100 knots is about 115 mph. The top speed of the Phantom was 1,600 mph, or Mach 2. Its cruise speed was 585 mph or 506 knots. Have not found the take off speed for it but do know that a Boeing 737 takes off at approximately 140-180 knots, which is approximately 161-207 miles per hour. So I imagine it would be at least that for any fighter jet. You got my curiosity up.

  • @MrGeforcerFX Must agree the F4 looks and sounds badass. One of the donwfalls of the Phantom II was its manuverablity. Since it used missles instead of guns in a dogfight being manuverable was not high priority. An F18 can out manuver a F4 with no problem. It was faster though hitting Mach 2.2 compared to the F18's Mach 1.8.

  • @mondo78 How is the modern day Navy fighter slower than the 60's F4 and way slower than a 78 Tomcat????? I never got how they downgraded there. You went from the F4 to a better Tomcat, then to a lesser jet???????

  • @onblock7 The F4 was designed with speed in mind and it gave up manuverablity. Speed and manuverability were combined with the Tomcat which could hit Mach 2.4. The Super Hornet gave up speed, Mach 1.8, but kept manuverability. They say the maintenance costs of the Tomcat was too high to keep going. Giving up on such a bad ass fighter seems stupid to me though. The new F 35 is over Mach 1.6 but is stealthy and manuverable. The weapons system is supposed to more advanced than anything ever built.

  • @onblock7 In a dogfight manuverability is the most important issue. Anything above Mach 1 is just icing on the cake. Mach 1 is the speed of sound and no one dogfights at Mach 1. The F 15 hits Mach 2.5 in high altitude but only Mach 1.2 in low altitude. To me the F 14 and F 15, are worth their weight in gold. These two instill utter fear into the enemy.

  • @greecafrance51 Sound better on a B-58 hustler lol

  • I really do miss the sound of those J-79s!!

  • I did this (as pilot of F4J) in 1976 as part of the Bicentennial Tour

  • "DAMN!!!!"

    Nice reaction lol

  • cookin!

  • the sound they make is orgasmic

  • Chuck Norris can do this with his eyes closed and his hands tied behind his back

  • Its very unaerodynamic but who cares it carrys enough bombs to level half of any country lol.

  • @1bearcatf8f Most of the newer western designs are being a total dog-dirt, or are too narrow in application to be worth considering. PHANTOM is a //superlative// design, and is very much price competitive with any airframe that would seek to replace her.

The God damn wings are rotting off F-15, and Pentagon procurement criminals are allowing it to happen to attempt to force an expenditure that is not needed. Military folks end up dead or maimed, and survivors end up with nothing.

  • @centurion180ad F-14,F-15,F-16,F-18 arnt crap. There some of the best plane's on the market.Iran should retire there F-14s.The F-15C is still flying in the future it's replacment will be its brother the Silent Eagle wich is also far from crap.

  • @1bearcatf8f 14, 15 & 16 are being phased out. 18 is too short in legs, and possesses only 1 seat.

The 2-seat F15E is awesome but it is not being supported, it is going bye bye.

    20 & 22 are terrible, dog dirt.

  • @centurion180ad there is no 20 in the USAF or USN lmao get your fact's right. The F-15C is still going strong. The new F-15 Silent Eagle will be superior to the old F-15s

  • @1bearcatf8f My understanding is that the F15 fleet is being hugely neglected.

That 2 seater F15E is a brilliant design, and that is why she has to go. Corporation procurement criminals must sell the slaves-taxpayers overpriced hunks of junk.

  • @centurion180ad There not being neglected. There still the world's premire Air Superiority Fighter's.You on the other hand are just an anti-american who think's he know's what's true when it's clearly bull shit lie's.Read up on your "FACTs" before saying shit.

  • Smoke-less German redesigned J-79's transforms this fighter.

Don't ever forget that the F-4 held the climb to time record for many years.

A beautiful aircraft much like the Bf-109....not "pretty" but meant to kill...

succeded in every mission it was given....Navy, Marines or USAF.

Went out in glory as with the F-4G variant....an aircraft the USAF was a little too quick in retiring from service.

  • @nyege2 agreed!

  • Yee haw.

  • The mighty Rhino, loudest thing in the sky.

  • my dad flew phantoms

  • cool

  • Gone...
