@Juan1976ification Try upgrading your ram to 8gb or 16gb like mine. Final cut x runs verryy smoothly on my 16. I would imagine it would too with 8. Message me if you want to know where to buy ram for cheaper.

1:55 "in iMovie you can only do picture in picture once, but in previous versions of final cut pro you can do it as many times as you want".... so does that mean you can do multiple picture-in-picture in Final Cut Pro X, or only in older versions? It's kind of unclear, and I want to know because that's the main thing I want to get Final Cut X for....

You said that you can't add audio FX in FCPX but you can, if you click on Effects tab look below the Video fx you will see Audio fx witch includes amongst other things Echo

In Windows, Quicktime doesn't have screen recording unless you upgrade to the pro version. On the Mac, they made it free a while ago.

@grbaseball00 what I do is do exactley what he did for picture in picture but for both videos then I arrange them next to eachother in the frame. The only thing is, is that the videos get smaller and dont fill the frame. If you find out another way let me know. :]

@XEJ21 iIf you have FCPX you can, there an fx called Censor that is designed to do exactly that, go to Effects look for Stylise then you will see the fx called censor, drag it onto you clip and you will see a pixelated circle in the middle of screen, just use the key frames to move it where you need, you even have a choice of pixelate, blur or darken. hope this helps

Right, but how about covering the basic: editing in final cut pro x. I've been having a hard time adapting from final cut pro 7. For instance, I want to grab the edge of a clip and drag it to make it shorter in the timeline. But when I do it, the previous (or next) clip comes together. How do I do it leaving a blank in the timeline without bringing the other clip together? Another basic issue I had is to drag selected clips without moving the soundtrack with them...How do I block audio/video?thx

Can you see if you can make rounded edges on your picture in picture box? I have seen this on a number of videos and wondered how they did it. I know you can use a mask or use a custom overlay but I doubt they did that in these videos. It's no standard feature in Premiere or Vegas that can do it. So I figure it must be a Final Cut option. Mike Tompkins - Only Girl video has rounded edges on his video boxes to see what I'm talking about.

one thing i hate is that i cant apply transitions to the picture in picture. anybody know a way around this? If i have a split screen going and I want it to fade on one side, its not letting me unless im fading the one on the main timeline

@SnapTimePro Just click on the clip then go up to the drop down menus and choose, "CLIP" "CREATE STORYLINE" or the keyboard short cut is "COMMAND G" when you do this you will notice a grey bar above the clip, this lets you know that it a "STORYLINE CLIP" now you can add a fade. A short cut is "COMMAND T", that will put a dissolve at both ends, very handy. Hope this helps

@dirtymonkeystudio just go into Generators, then Textures, then Solids and pick white, put that on your timeline and fade to or from. hope this helps.
