Poor design. And everybody piss's their pants for a Parkzone. Most overpriced piece of foam I've ever seen. Even on ebay they fight tooth and nail for some returned, defective Parkzone. Get a GWS. Then if you crash it, you haven't thrown $100+ in trash can.
That parkzone P51 sucks, the first time I flew mine, it crashed after hand launch, then it flew for 1 minute and it nose dived. This plane is underpowered, therefore, I switched to a fiberglassed GWS ME109 with ultrafly brushless motor and LIPO battery and it flew great. I trashed my parkzone and sold the rest of the salvageable parts including radio & electronics thru e-bay. I will not buy any Parkzone Planes anymore.
Want ot see a real crash......Check out my P51crash video. Just click on my name. I stall the P51 in a turn and it spun in nose first. You can hear me say OH OH. Accidents all happen very fast. Just like a deer caught in the headlights, I knew it was coming but could do nothing about it.
I also just bought this plane. Thanks for the heads up! I will modify the battery door. I would have never thought of it falling out like that......Hope you got it back in the air to enjoy.
or put some foam around the battery like i did for my FW-190 and even tho the battery hatch is on top i still put foam there just incase and the batter is held there pretty well.
Parkzone should put side-loading batteries in their models, hehe. I've seen friends have battery ejects on their P-51s and FW-190s, and my stryker has lost a bat once or twice while flying inverted (before I moved to lipo.. yay for lightweight).
the batt fell out ? oh and here was me thinking it came out when you smashed the belly of it on the floor !! on the spit the batt goes in the top. better design.

Let's do the math.
Battery + Plastic Hatch X Too many G's = CRUNCH!

you made it farther than i did. i got maybe 5 seconds of flight before i killed it. battery shot through the cowl on contact with the ground.

Plastic battery tray on the bottom of the airplane? Who's brilliant idea was that? It was an accident waiting to happen. Sorry 'bout your luck.
