Protons are widely used in the UK road rallying scene. The old Satria Neo GTI is excellent on road in standard spec and with simple suspension mods (evo2/3 struts etc) are brill off road. The S2000 cars are extremely well built, fast and successful in rally form.
@nightsage217 About the only decent car Proton has ever produced. And Top Gear sucks balls anyway. Clarkson's a god damn asshole who thinks that the Brits make the best of everything. That being said, notice that he was actually picking on the shitty nerfed version of the Satria instead of the S2000
i personally drive a Proton Waja 1.8X,,i have to say its a wonderful n a very powerful car,,yes its nt a 4WD but its powerful enough on the road,,driving on the PLUS highway is great,,The Renault F4P MPI engine is good for high speed n very balance,,Waja also has the best cornering in its class,,im proud to own A Proton Waja 1.8,,
I was replying to bg039k013 that a Waja 1.8 engine couldn't be matched to a 4WD tranny but MEM has done it... the S2000 Neo in this one is a Renault 1.8L F4P D4 motor matched to Xtrac/Sadev 4X4tranny that has been REWORKED by MSD. It's not that MSD fully built an engine from scratch . Error : not a 4G18 engine, my bad. That's the 1600cc Waja engine code.
rm900k? i rather buy a porsche, vw gti 2.0..something like tat.. this stuff is for branding purpose...u cant run this on the street..if u wanna take a spin in sepang..with this 900k car..then ur filthy rich.. =) no offense..just a comment XD..its like a prototype..
willing to buy it ? what will you do with it ? take it for a spin in the local forrest ? and i doubt a random customer will be able to buy a proton rally car !
it cost about RM300k something. Gearbox itseld is RM175k. 280hp..1.8 N.A tuned from the Waja 1.8. I think this one must be at least 0-100km less than 4.5 seconds
split second car..

this car is exceptionally used by Top gear in a challenge, even though their critic on the rest are quite poor. so it's something really.

This is not a road car, but a pure rally racing car.
You should not buy one for any other purposes but for serious rally competiton.
So stop making "I rather buy whatever car" nonsense.
