Hey Everybody! I have just released my new album 'Unhinged' which is inspired by great games such as the Silent Hill series. You can stream or download the full album for free on my youtube channel!
Goddamn this song makes me feel so old but at peace.
This song was the reason I chose silent hill 2's foggy world as a fictional place I would like to live in for a school report when I was in high school.
The title goes perfectly with the song. It seems...almost happy, but then it still has this mournful tone. Like it's trying soo hard to be that happy song on the soundtrack...but not quite D:
I love this song..I remember when it was a Sunday...sometime fall 2008..it was cloudy and very foggy. I was just relaxing with this song laying on my bed..it was awesome
@Te4RHyP3 There is no real definite answer to the hole. It's all the how you want to interpret it. I like to think that the hole represents the emptiness James is suffering from the death of Mary, while the "it's gone now" part means that James is trying to fill up the hole; in otherwords, he's suppressing it.
akira yamaoka is one of the biggest musical genious in all of the universe that i had ever the peasure to hear .he really deserves all of my respect along clasical music musicians and rock bands
When I listen to this, I think of an empty neighborhood. Rows of white houses with lawns littered with trash, but otherwise perfect. A shopping cart in the street, the sky's dark and the fog is so damp you feel as though you're breathing in water.
Wow music didn't die in New Age, it just hid itself from the hairy hand of mainstream in the video game industry.
First 3 games of Silent Hill and Resident Evil are timeless classics for me and the soundtracks on them are out of this world. Sadly the new ones are kinda meh :(.
@Te4RHyP3 I think it somewhat represents SH4. You travel through holes to get to different worlds. But its strange that they say that statement before SH4 was released. Thats just my theory.
@Te4RHyP3 Its okay. I don't think anyone knows the answer. Its not on the wiki so I guess its not important....but still, wtf is the point of putting it there?XD
I thought that for a bit, before I thought of Silent Hill 4 Holes, and also like the void in James, after Mary died. I prefer to think the second and third guess, :S
when a game is bad you dont play it.when a game is good you play it for a while.when a game is great its not just a game anymore, its an expierence, and one that you'll never forget.
Silent Hill 2 is one of those rare games that is more than just a game. It's also a work of art and an experience that really makes you think as well. It makes me consider the darkness we all have within us and reminds me that it's not the darkness that defines us; it's how we choose to deal with it.
This song is like peeling away all the pain and sadness in your life and finding beauty at its core. Just like a flower...Even though you might be in the darkest moment of your life and there's not a soul out there to help you...something beautiful is beginning to grow.

Back on topic.. this music is like a "prisonic" White Noize.. sounds like more despair then fear.
stop fighting about a video game, guys.... go out, get some fresh air, maybe? SH is good (and the music is godly) but sometimes all you need are in-real-life friends... o_o
it doesnt matter what the reason for that town to exist...it will have many faces of death and decay for who ever dwells ..in that....town...weather it be old gods..or feelings of guilt manifesting in to people to punish those that were called by that town..one things for sure...who ever goes to that town..they..will never be right again...lol..god help me..im one of them:D..i love silent hill:D
Laura is a girl that had met Mary at the hospital, thus, there is an ending which James adopts her because Mary had requested it in one of the letters Laura had (In which yes, Mary DID give Laura the letter, from the hospital).
Maria and Laura exist to bring out James true nature and make him realize what he had done, his guilt has caused him to go mad and see things that aren't there. Which is why Eddie never runs into Pyramid Head, and Laura and Maria were both in the "alternate" hospital. Eddie isn't part of James imagination, but was brought to Silent Hill to show that he is no different than James in what he has done. But sadly, James can't take a hint, which is where the video tape comes in.
Similar to the first game where Lisa was only in Otherworld so Cybil never met her. Though I like to believe Laura is real because of the Leave Ending. To me the Maria Ending makes no sense.
but who says they left? since james gave up on his life, he probably decided to stay in silent hill.
and even if they did, it wouldn't matter since the power of silent hill has intensified after silent hill 1, allowing the events of silent hill 2 to happen.
Interesting theory. I suppose since Fog World is something of a Purgatory, middle ground between reality (Heaven symbol) and Otherworld (Hell symbol) one could exist permanently, given the fact they refused to face their demons, like in the Maria Ending. But that could also be used in the In Water Ending. James killed himself in Silent Hill so perhaps he would continue to exist in that unchanging Fog World....maybe as a monster himself?
I understand how the town's power was created and why. You're missing my point. The Fog World is like reality, but a twisted, cut-off section where monsters from Otherworld can leak into. When Alessa died she lost control over Otherworld, allowing the old gods to take back their power. This is hinted at in the Rebirth Ending.
Alessa did die. The first one, anyway. During the events of SH1 there were two forms of Alessa: Cheryl and Alessa herself. "Cheryl" died when she fused with her original self and the whole Alessa died soon after placing a part of her soul into Heather. Heather is just a piece of Alessa, like Cheryl was. And obviously the events of 2 came afterward as 1 was set in the 80s.
The old gods do exist. Remember James knew a lot about Silent Hill's history. He wouldn't blindly use the Rebirth artifacts.
.....You didn't get the Rebirth Ending, did you? And Silent Hill isn't "special" by any means so the rules of reincarnation still apply. One cannot put their entire soul into a new form without dying immediately afterward. Alessa put a good amount in there, I know that, but there is absolutely no way she put her entire self into Heather. How else would she create a portal and stop the ceiling from falling? She kept a small piece of herself to see Harry (and Cybil) off back to the real world.
-_- From what you've been saying you do not understand the three worlds and the history of Silent Hill. Search the Rebirth Ending and watch it as many times as you need to. James specifically says old godS, not GOD. Whether or not A cult worshiped the old gods, it doesn't matter. 100 years before Alessa was born the town only knew their polytheistic religion. The Order came about much later with their single god and knew that a girl with powerful psychic abilities would be the only to birth it.
You are taking my words and twisting them to make me wrong. I never said anything about the connection between the Otherworld shifts and the old gods. What I am saying that you don't seem to understand is Alessa was not the start of all the town's "problems". Many years before she born there were the old gods, their sacrifices, and the symbolic executioners Pyramid Head resembled. Why do you think PH looks like that? James knew what they looked like. He picked that appearance to punish him.
in my opinion silent hill wasnt evil when it all started.
it has always been powerful but not evil.
i think as the events unfolded, since silent hill always had some kind of supernatural energy, these energies turned something darker as the wars&& deaths where taking place.
Second, I understand your point perfectly. You are not understanding me. The town has never been "good" or "evil". A land full of buildings cannot possess these human characteristics. There have always been cults and gods and evil creatures in the town. Why? Some towns just have freaky people like that.
&& about james, i think before silent hill 2, when him&& mary were vacationing there, he prob. saw the picture in the silent hill historical society museum.
he didnt really picked the appearance of PH, silent hill did.
You need to stop associating the town and self-awareness. The gods (having reawakened by the influence of Otherworld in 1) lured James to them, using his biggest fears and guilty feelings to project identical monsters. The appearance of PH was something James could recognize, like Maria. And the 2 PH only bore a RESEMBLANCE to the old executioners. They wore pointed red hoods, not internally spiked helmets. Only a monster who no one can kill could do that.
Continuation: There is always someone or something creating the Fog/Otherworlds. In 1 it was Alessa's fears. 2 was the work of the old gods playing off of James' subconscious and guilt. 3 was The Order trying to spark Alessa's memories in Heather. 4 was Walter performing his ritual. The town cannot produce things on its own. It really used to be just a normal town. And a theory is that it still is, just not to those like James.
alessa is a powerful being, thats why she was chosen by the order to give birth to the "god".
im pretty sure alessa reincarnated herself fully into heather.
she prob. created the portal&& used her last powers to get them outta there since she had the god in her&& was fused with cheryl, she was powerful enough to do this.
&& yes silent hill is normal to those who are lucky enough to see it.
i take that back..when you come to this town..there is no hope...this town is full of sorrow and despair for all who did bad...but..how do i explain laura?...wow..my head hurts now...lol
Laura, is as best as i can put, a coincidence. She was merely here looking for Mary at the same time James, Angela and Eddie arrived. Or possibly here coming could have been arranged at that time so her innocence and youth could torment James about Mary.
youre right about her innocence tormenting james...but..she didnt "come to town looking for mary"...she...was made..by this town..she wasnt..real..maria wasnt real either...notice they dont have last names..they were made...to punish james..he made a grave sin..punish him!!!
Uh, Laura is real. We know that she's real because she interacts with Eddie, someone who is also real. No, she doesn't see the monsters or the Otherworld but that's because she's a child and children are supposed to be innocent.
That being said, Maria most likely existed before James came to Silent Hill: in Silent Hill 3 you can find an ad about Maria in Heaven's Night Club - she just got drawn into the events of the second game. The town might have made James think that she looked like Mary.
im sorry Applesbleed...she isn't real..look...she has no last name...and maria...that add was found "in that town"..note..i said IN THAT TOWN!!!they were made to punish James...and Eddie came to be punished in that town to so..yes..he can see her too...laura is probably what James wanted from Mary..a loving daughter in a happy family..but...great opinion, Applesbleed..u..almost convinced me:D
i agree with most of what u said except im not sure about maria being real, i mean she did die in the game like 3 times. I thought she was a manifestation of james guilt about his wife.
Actually, you're close. When Mary was sick and dying, James rarely visited her at the hospital. He occasionally frequented strip clubs, and he came to have a favorite one, named "Lady Maria". Maria is a combination of the memories of that stripper and his wife. Look at Maria's hair and the way she is extremely open to James - "Would you like to touch me?". James' subconscious basically combined Mary and "Lady Maria" to cope with his sexual frustration, which can be seen by the look of the nurses
And by favorite one, I mean favorite stripper. If anyone wants, I can link the source of this information from a very large plot analysis that just about covers every last subtle detail.
It's most likely that during the 3 years Maria was ill James went to the Heavens Night strip club and Maria - having a similar name and age, probably caught his eye, he probably wished that Mary was a bit more open like this woman was, so naturally his would see his ideal woman as Mary but with a sprinkling of this stripper. Not to mention since James' monsters aren't visible to anyone other than himself and Mary dies by the hand of one repeatedly chances are she isn't real.
It's like returning to the dreams of your childhood, toys, games, and photos of friends and family inside an empty house gathering dust... The paradise you left behind.
paradise?...ha!..there is no paradise..only empty dreams gathering dust..and decaying with age:(..dreams were never meant to last..the only two absolute things in the world are...your death!..and the sun rising and setting..this song should be called "carol of broken dreams"..:(
@GameBoyPL1991 That's because Silent Hill's music is poetry without lyrics (well, the majority of them are without lyrics)... Silent Poetry, if you will. ^^
Yes! Silent Hill 2 has the BEST songs...specifically this one and Day of The Night are my favorites! Also Heaven's Night as good too! It makes me very clam....I love foggy cloudy days but they rarely come... These calm songs from Silent Hill 2 make me feel more comfortable when alone.
Thanks for uploading this. I am a huge Silent Hill fan. Like all SH fans SH2 is my favorite one. The music is so captivating, I dont know what it is about it. It just swallows you. Thanks again! BTW... Can you put this up for download??

@ninjast4r i can't really find any official dictionary definition.

@Te4RHyP3 Prisonic
Adjective describing something prison-like in nature or appearance; cold and unfeeling; devoid of any form of freedom.
Did that help? Sure, if you took out the 'ic' at the end of Prisonic, you get Prison. Hope that answers your question.

I think Laura is James wanting of a daughter that he never had with Mary and now never will, thus adding more punishment for what he did.
SpikeyMike26 2 years ago
Laura is a girl that had met Mary at the hospital, thus, there is an ending which James adopts her because Mary had requested it in one of the letters Laura had (In which yes, Mary DID give Laura the letter, from the hospital).
LettingHerGo 2 years ago 4
I meant metaphorically..I know she was a real person, I didn't understand her being in SH though..
SpikeyMike26 2 years ago
Maria and Laura exist to bring out James true nature and make him realize what he had done, his guilt has caused him to go mad and see things that aren't there. Which is why Eddie never runs into Pyramid Head, and Laura and Maria were both in the "alternate" hospital. Eddie isn't part of James imagination, but was brought to Silent Hill to show that he is no different than James in what he has done. But sadly, James can't take a hint, which is where the video tape comes in.
Kojitsu 2 years ago
Similar to the first game where Lisa was only in Otherworld so Cybil never met her. Though I like to believe Laura is real because of the Leave Ending. To me the Maria Ending makes no sense.
NocturnalPyro 2 years ago 3
the maria ending shows james&& maria leaving together meaning james is doomed to spend eternity suffering because maria exist only to punish james.
as you can realize when she starts coughing.
colombiatm 2 years ago
Ja ja, aber Maria can only exist in Silent Hill. How can she leave when she is like Lisa? Nonexistent yet real. No one sees her but the protagonist.
NocturnalPyro 2 years ago
exactly.
but who says they left? since james gave up on his life, he probably decided to stay in silent hill.
and even if they did, it wouldn't matter since the power of silent hill has intensified after silent hill 1, allowing the events of silent hill 2 to happen.
colombiatm 2 years ago
Interesting theory. I suppose since Fog World is something of a Purgatory, middle ground between reality (Heaven symbol) and Otherworld (Hell symbol) one could exist permanently, given the fact they refused to face their demons, like in the Maria Ending. But that could also be used in the In Water Ending. James killed himself in Silent Hill so perhaps he would continue to exist in that unchanging Fog World....maybe as a monster himself?
NocturnalPyro 2 years ago
no. its a world that exist beyond james.
alessa created this world in silent hill 1 so she could hide from the order.
but like i said its power intensified so much, to the point the town took a life of its own, punishing any person with darkness in their heart.
allowing silent hill 2.
colombiatm 2 years ago
I understand how the town's power was created and why. You're missing my point. The Fog World is like reality, but a twisted, cut-off section where monsters from Otherworld can leak into. When Alessa died she lost control over Otherworld, allowing the old gods to take back their power. This is hinted at in the Rebirth Ending.
NocturnalPyro 2 years ago
you're missing mine&& along the way making it what it is not.
alessa never died, remember alessa is heather.
its not clear how long its been since the events of silent hill 1 but we know for sure that silent hill 2 happened AFTER silent hill 1.
&& about your point on the old gods, they are non-existant here.
its all about silent hill, its energy&& power.
beyond control now.
colombiatm 2 years ago
Alessa did die. The first one, anyway. During the events of SH1 there were two forms of Alessa: Cheryl and Alessa herself. "Cheryl" died when she fused with her original self and the whole Alessa died soon after placing a part of her soul into Heather. Heather is just a piece of Alessa, like Cheryl was. And obviously the events of 2 came afterward as 1 was set in the 80s.
The old gods do exist. Remember James knew a lot about Silent Hill's history. He wouldn't blindly use the Rebirth artifacts.
NocturnalPyro 2 years ago
alessa cut here soul apart in order to delay god's birth, creating cheryl.
heather in the other hand is not just a "piece", but alessa herself.
in other words a reincarnation.
&& about the old gods. i meant they are not-existant in silent hill's 2 situation.
they're not the cause of whats happening to james, angela, or eddie.
but rather the town itself.
colombiatm 2 years ago
.....You didn't get the Rebirth Ending, did you? And Silent Hill isn't "special" by any means so the rules of reincarnation still apply. One cannot put their entire soul into a new form without dying immediately afterward. Alessa put a good amount in there, I know that, but there is absolutely no way she put her entire self into Heather. How else would she create a portal and stop the ceiling from falling? She kept a small piece of herself to see Harry (and Cybil) off back to the real world.
NocturnalPyro 2 years ago
its clear that the fog world was a creation of alessa.
when it comes to the otherworld, its a different case.
i think THE god, note that its only one god.
unknown being is responsible for the shifts between worlds.
&& since poor alessa had to carry this being inside her, it prob. turned her worse nightmares to life, creating this other world.
it was never in alessa's plans to do this.
the otherworld changes with different people but the series is based solely to alessa's nightmare.
colombiatm 2 years ago
continuation:
the rusty, decaying otherworld filled with wheelchairs, hospitals, nurses.
this indicates alessa's fears.
hope this made sense to you now.
colombiatm 2 years ago
-_- From what you've been saying you do not understand the three worlds and the history of Silent Hill. Search the Rebirth Ending and watch it as many times as you need to. James specifically says old godS, not GOD. Whether or not A cult worshiped the old gods, it doesn't matter. 100 years before Alessa was born the town only knew their polytheistic religion. The Order came about much later with their single god and knew that a girl with powerful psychic abilities would be the only to birth it.
NocturnalPyro 2 years ago
the rebirth ending doesnt have anything to do with the different worlds in silent hill.
james needed to do this "ritual" to revive his wife.
the really no connection between the rebirth ending&& the shifts between worlds.
colombiatm 2 years ago
You are taking my words and twisting them to make me wrong. I never said anything about the connection between the Otherworld shifts and the old gods. What I am saying that you don't seem to understand is Alessa was not the start of all the town's "problems". Many years before she born there were the old gods, their sacrifices, and the symbolic executioners Pyramid Head resembled. Why do you think PH looks like that? James knew what they looked like. He picked that appearance to punish him.
NocturnalPyro 2 years ago
we're misunderstanding eachother man...
your right, alessa was not the beginning.
she was only a victim.
in my opinion silent hill wasnt evil when it all started.
it has always been powerful but not evil.
i think as the events unfolded, since silent hill always had some kind of supernatural energy, these energies turned something darker as the wars&& deaths where taking place.
turning into what it is today.
colombiatm 2 years ago
First of all, not a man, do not call me that.
Second, I understand your point perfectly. You are not understanding me. The town has never been "good" or "evil". A land full of buildings cannot possess these human characteristics. There have always been cults and gods and evil creatures in the town. Why? Some towns just have freaky people like that.
NocturnalPyro 2 years ago
pardon me then miss.
i think you're very lost with the silent hill history&& events.
google is your friend, my friend.
research since you didnt seem to understand playing the games themselves.
colombiatm 2 years ago
&& about james, i think before silent hill 2, when him&& mary were vacationing there, he prob. saw the picture in the silent hill historical society museum.
he didnt really picked the appearance of PH, silent hill did.
colombiatm 2 years ago
You need to stop associating the town and self-awareness. The gods (having reawakened by the influence of Otherworld in 1) lured James to them, using his biggest fears and guilty feelings to project identical monsters. The appearance of PH was something James could recognize, like Maria. And the 2 PH only bore a RESEMBLANCE to the old executioners. They wore pointed red hoods, not internally spiked helmets. Only a monster who no one can kill could do that.
NocturnalPyro 2 years ago
Continuation: There is always someone or something creating the Fog/Otherworlds. In 1 it was Alessa's fears. 2 was the work of the old gods playing off of James' subconscious and guilt. 3 was The Order trying to spark Alessa's memories in Heather. 4 was Walter performing his ritual. The town cannot produce things on its own. It really used to be just a normal town. And a theory is that it still is, just not to those like James.
NocturnalPyro 2 years ago
silent hill is damn special if you ask me.
alessa is a powerful being, thats why she was chosen by the order to give birth to the "god".
im pretty sure alessa reincarnated herself fully into heather.
she prob. created the portal&& used her last powers to get them outta there since she had the god in her&& was fused with cheryl, she was powerful enough to do this.
&& yes silent hill is normal to those who are lucky enough to see it.
unlike our heroes, harry, james, heather, henry....

i take that back..when you come to this town..there is no hope...this town is full of sorrow and despair for all who did bad...but..how do i explain laura?...wow..my head hurts now...lol
nile1love 2 years ago 4
Laura, is as best as i can put, a coincidence. She was merely here looking for Mary at the same time James, Angela and Eddie arrived. Or possibly here coming could have been arranged at that time so her innocence and youth could torment James about Mary.
darthveamon 2 years ago
Or, perhaps, she was a figment of Mary's imagination, and was invisioned to fill her loneliness, as she was so lonely she began talking to herself.
050294devart 2 years ago
well, possibly. though the town is James's imagination, not mary's. Laura is as best as one can guess: an actual human being.
darthveamon 2 years ago
youre right about her innocence tormenting james...but..she didnt "come to town looking for mary"...she...was made..by this town..she wasnt..real..maria wasnt real either...notice they dont have last names..they were made...to punish james..he made a grave sin..punish him!!!
nile1love 2 years ago 6
Still, he runs off with laura in one ending and maria in another. Idk how it works really. dont ask me :O
darthveamon 2 years ago
Uh, Laura is real. We know that she's real because she interacts with Eddie, someone who is also real. No, she doesn't see the monsters or the Otherworld but that's because she's a child and children are supposed to be innocent.
That being said, Maria most likely existed before James came to Silent Hill: in Silent Hill 3 you can find an ad about Maria in Heaven's Night Club - she just got drawn into the events of the second game. The town might have made James think that she looked like Mary.
Applesbleed 2 years ago 6
im sorry Applesbleed...she isn't real..look...she has no last name...and maria...that add was found "in that town"..note..i said IN THAT TOWN!!!they were made to punish James...and Eddie came to be punished in that town to so..yes..he can see her too...laura is probably what James wanted from Mary..a loving daughter in a happy family..but...great opinion, Applesbleed..u..almost convinced me:D

i agree with most of what u said except im not sure about maria being real, i mean she did die in the game like 3 times. I thought she was a manifestation of james guilt about his wife.
SPRINGS02 2 years ago 3
Actually, you're close. When Mary was sick and dying, James rarely visited her at the hospital. He occasionally frequented strip clubs, and he came to have a favorite one, named "Lady Maria". Maria is a combination of the memories of that stripper and his wife. Look at Maria's hair and the way she is extremely open to James - "Would you like to touch me?". James' subconscious basically combined Mary and "Lady Maria" to cope with his sexual frustration, which can be seen by the look of the nurses
Fetusmilkshake 1 year ago 12
And by favorite one, I mean favorite stripper. If anyone wants, I can link the source of this information from a very large plot analysis that just about covers every last subtle detail.

but..what about that sub scenario...born from a wish...maria..is not real!...she was...just ...born from a wish:D
nile1love 1 year ago
@Fetusmilkshake And the reason PH rapes is cos of his sexual frustration
FinalFantasyLov3r124 1 year ago
@Applesbleed
