@alexrj2 I know of no states where it is "forbidden to preach in the streets"...at least not as a law. There may be rogue cops, security, governmental officials, etc., but there is NO LAW in the U.S. forbidding the preaching of the Gospel on public property...

Honestly, I think the police were sincerely trying to protect the preacher. From the video observation it was getting obvious that some people not only were making fun of(mocking) and sport out of the preacher but were starting to physically get close and almost mock in a too up close way. I think the police knew that you had a legal right to keep preaching but sometimes as humans police have to make judgment calls when they feel that the crowd may physically turn on you the message aside.

That is exactly what they were doing if you ask me. That's just the point though. What they are supposed to do is NOT remove me (because I have done nothing wrong), but keep those who they are concerned about back.

You don't stop my freedom of speech because others are being unlawful. You stop the unlawful ones and take action on them, not the lawful one. This is what the law says they should do...

See its like sin you just cant do a little sin god said for all has sinned and falled short of his glory. Just look at the Ten comandments god said if you look on a woman with lust you have comitted sin in your heart. The word Alcohol was not even a word till 1672

The word was fermented and non- firmented wine.

Using your reasoning than it would be ok to smoke pot do coke -cane are any other drug as long as you dont do to much. We could even go as far as saying owning a slave would be cool because it to was legal at one time.

Skelly keep up the good work my brother. I would like to point out that jesus did not drink ferminted wine no alcohol at all. In proverds its clear that damned is the person that gives his neighbor strong drink. Not to look upon the wine once it moves itself. U dont put new wine in old bottles.The thought that Yashuah would use alcohol as a token of his blood is blasphemy. He made more than 150 gals at wedding of canna and no one got drunk new wine....pure like christ

The fact is that Jesus drank wine. Kerrigan was correct in stating that it doesn't justify their drunkenness. Just because you have a problem with alcohol doesn't make it a sin to drink it. That is called legalism. I would say that if drinking causes you to stumble into drunkenness, then you shouldn't drink it at all. That is a personal thing. You can enjoy beer or wine without falling into sin.

I have to agree with you regarding my horrible spelling and grammar. ("there"/ "their" oops! :) With that said, the fact remains that his rights were blatantly violated. The US Supreme Court has made clear that the police must protect the speaker until the crowd gets violently out of control.

Thanks. Do you know what the date was for this Supreme Court ruling? Maybe the Police thought that the crowd was about to get out of hand and therefore decided to act promptly to avoid any unpleasantness.

The big Supreme Court case would be Brandenburg v. Ohio, 395 U.S. 444 (1969). It says that a state cannot forbid speech unless it "is directed to producing or inciting imminent lawless action" and is "likely to produce or incite such action." However, for a case with facts very similar to this video you will have to look to lower courts. (Cases like this would not even go to trial much less an appeal to the Supreme Court. -- The city would settle the case, apologize, and move on.) (See Next)

Some of the spectators got pissed, and the city made the preachers take the signs down; the preachers sued and won. The Court said,

"The Court must also consider the context of the speech to determine whether it was inherently likely to cause a violent reaction, thus inciting a riot.

The laws of the Bible are arbitary and only Christians who beleive in the bible will follow them. You cannot tell people who do not beleive in Jesus that they are wrong, you have to tell them there is a better way.

When you tell them they are wrong you suggest that you are right and that you have it all sorted out. But noone does. Romans 3, For all have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God. There is noone righteous, not even one.

You need to tell them that Jesus died to change that.
