i think this version turned out great (have not heard any others) but i've read up on this song. i think mitch has always been the greatest drummer for hendrix music and cox and redding are both great. this (sort of) lost track reminds me of nirvana's "you know you're right" last song. it was kicked around live, had a few rough studio takes and was ultimately left as unfisnished - just a demo. pat smear was to record his parts which never happened. cobain and jimi left inklings of future masters

@AbbeyNO and it was the flat monotone vocal that limited him I think from progressing a whole lot further. He was like Dylan regarding his voice but Dylan had a genius for prolific writing. Jimi was highly original as well as creative but I just find his sound repetitive. I guess it's a matter of opinion, as some love all his stuff whereas I find his later stuff not as inspired as the first album. It would have been interesting to see where he went in the 70's.
