I'm going for badass points and that super-smooth shave associated with a straight razor, but having gotten my razor (a vintage Fromm Red Head) from a junk store for $5, sharpened it with every resource at my immediate disposal, and still finding it unable to pass the hanging hair test, I'm afraid I'll have to invest in some new sharpening gear.

-a satisfying smooth shave that takes a while and some maintenance but makes up for it with tons of badass points (straigthrazor).

-a quick shave that is low maintenance but still smooth and pretty cool (DE razor)

I switched from the modern day 3-5 blade razors and got myself an old 1956 Gillette Flare Tip Super Speed. And I can honestly say it's the best switch in grooming I've ever made. I don't have as much skin irritation and my beard is softer than it's ever been.

This video was fabulous! I'm a safety razor kind of guy myself, I've been using a Merkur double edge razor for years. I have both the long handle and short handle razors. They work a lot better than those expensive, plastic disposable razors, with the single exception of the Gillette Good News razor, which I use when I'm in a hurry and still want a decent shave.

When I feel like pretending Im the Marlboro man, then I shave with a straight razor or if I im out of safety blades and don't have $40 to buy a new set. On the other hand, mornings that I wake up still piss drunk from pretending to be the Marlboro man the night before, well on those days I shave with a safety razor. Straight razors are great and they do shave nice if there properly honed/stropped, it's a nice way to start your day. The downside is you have to learn how to care for the blade.
