Def Leppard started out with exactly the same potential as Iron Maiden, when they released their debut album On Through The Night. There was so much diversity on that album. From that we can see that there were many directions for the band to go, and an unstoppable momentum of success could have been gathered which may have propelled the band forward into even more success for decades to come... Then Mutt Lange got his hands on them. Simon Cowell syndrome, but with music 1 million times better.
