  • The arms are decelerating in this drill because the kids are afraid to explode against an unpadded surface. It's a natural response. Would you puch a brick wall as hard as you can?

    They are practicing be slow. What's the benefit of that?

    No wonder ND is getting pushed around.

  • @Flyyyy It's not for explosion it's for reaction, thats why they are stepping forward into the gaps. It becomes like second nature.For explosion they use blocking pads or football sleds. I did this a lot when I was playing ball as a MLB at Iowa University.

    Appreciate the comment. I'll take your word for it. Football guys and strength coaches see things differently sometimes.

    As a coach, I never want my kids to learn the motor skill of "slow hands".

    But there are hundreds of ways to skin a cat.
