I just don't get him. I find him awkward, but not in a funny way. His humour always seems to be a long run up to nothing. He's clearly well educated but the way he uses his knowledge in the comedy comes across as more condescending to me than witty. To each his own, though. That's the beautiful thing about comedy. There are many different facets. I just don't enjoy his style.
@holidaysinsweden Indeed his performance is brilliant as ever, but he did say we hated doing Whose Line on TV. I mean, you just have to look at the other videos of his appearance and the Hoedown to see that he is uncomfortable doing this kind of thing. However, loved doing the radio version of Whose Line.
SF blogged today that he "hated' being on TV version of WLIIA "Did all original Whose Line on Radio 4 but only 2 on TV. Hated it: made me feel I was in primary school on the playmat *shudder* "...
Stephen is SUCH an amazing bullshitter. He's so good at pulling a ton of nonsense out of no where and making it sound absolutely brilliant and rehersed.
Saying homosexuality is ethically wrong because sex organs, behaviour etc. evolved for reproductive use (heterosexuality) is an invalid argument. Arguing ethical points on the basis of factual knowledge represents the so-called naturalist fallacy - "It is, therefore it should be".
Your ethics are thus flawed, even if your facts were not. However, they are: There is a quite solid body of evidence for the genetic basis of homosexuality, so at least some part of the trait is involuntary.
Your comment was poor (unpunctuated, lacking in content, etc). You have failed to meet the required standard for this comments page. Please desist from leaving further postings on here. If you fail to comply with my orders I shall make good on my earlier threat to abduct and killa weasel.

Your fantasy life is steeped in submission-domination imagery. The most fulfilling sexual experience of your life - exhilarating, shockingly thrilling, shrieking psychosexual spontaneous overpowingly violent [i'm losing control...words.../
If he hasn't already, Stephen Fry should abandon whatever homosexual behavior he's gone in for, marry a good bright woman, raise 3 or more brilliant and charming children, continuing, well, the Fry line anyway.
Engaging in ludicrous pointless perversion for a while is one thing; No sense in being a lifelong fanatic about it.
If he persists with the perversion thing, he has a public responsibility to be less attractive. Otherwise it sets a bad example.
Homosexuality is a perversion because it inhibits the natural design and function of the human body in relationship to reproduction, and adversely effects physical health according to both optimums and norms in modern society.
This is not to imply that it is particularly worse than other perversions or abnormal behavior, but simply that it is indeed a perversion.
Adm, please cite the evidence for your claim that homosexuality 'adversely effects physical health'.
The OED defines perversion (sexual context) as 'sexually abnormal', but homosexuality is recorded as occurring in over 1500 different species (2006 study, University of Oslo) from fruit flies to lions; it is in no way abnormal or perverse. It is lireally natural (OED: 'Existing in or derived from nature'). Further studies revealed that homosexual parents were more successful raising young.
Most of these studies use circumstantial evidence as animals responding to instinct in specific conditions. Having raised rabbits most of my life, I have seen many of the 'conditions' spoken of. The things they leave out of most of those studies are the contrary evidence. With rabbits, in crowded conditions, incest, homosexuality, fighting, and killing become common and 'natural'. Studies also show homosexual parents to b less successful since average relationships are much shorter.
In a natural habitat, animals seek the opposite sex for a relationship primarily for reproduction. Nowhere have I ever been presented with any study to show that any animal actually seeks out the same sex for any reproductive stimulation. As I mentioned above, these studies cite circumstantial evidence, and since most animals do not exhibit sufficient intelligence to actually check the sex they are humping, logic would demand that such events would take place on accident.
Turning these accidents into a primary basis to prove that a relationship building on intentionally 'dysfunctional' uses are normal is not only a perversion in the structured physical sense, but also a perversion of the logic base. This makes homosexuals no less human, no less sensitive, no less needy, and no less important than any other person. However, it is a chosen perverted action and should be recognized as such.
@Admissible here's some proof in layman's term considering one of the most intelligent creatures on the planet, dolphins. Dolphins are the only other known species on the planet to have sex for pleasure instead of reproducing. There have also been cases of homosexual relations between dolphins, therefore the dolphins have had homosexual sex for pleasure, purposely.
thats not true pygmy chimps (bonobos) have sex for pleasure including homosexual sex. im just correcting the "dolphins are the only other know species" bit. and i think this this strengthens your point
It would appear that my previous reply didn't post, or was removed.
It never fails to amaze me how the people claiming that all views must be respected are the first and loudest condemners of anyone who disagrees with them.
Anyway, I shall endeavor to make my perspective clear. And a quick comment, regardless of whether or not I substantiate them for you doesn't make them fallacious, bigoted, or a lie. To say they are based on lack of presented information is a major logic error.
Probably the easiest way to examine homosexuality as a perversion is to note the designated function of the organs in question and compare them to homosexual use. Since those functions are specifically for reproduction, using them in a manner inconsistent with apparent design is a perversion. Using physical actions contrary to 'normal' function in most cases produces both mental and physical problems. A simple google search should give you access to the studies and articles I refer to.
Adm, you're using definitions for 'normal', 'natural' & 'perversion' which are contrary to the English definitions, so your claims are literally meaningless & your implication that I said 'all views must be respected' is dishonest.
The studies do not cite circumstantial evidence whatsoever, the paper was submitted with most data from natural settings & underwent peer review, but you're obviously commenting without having read it.
Which studies show 'homosexual parents to b less successful'?
Your definition of 'perversion' from the OED is 'sexually abnormal'. 'Abnormal' being 'not normal, average, typical, or usual' (Webster). You cited a study showing 1500 species exibiting such characteristics. However, this is neither an average of species, nor an average within species. Hence by definition, homosexuality is a perversion. I did not say you held the view that 'all views should be tolerated', but it is a common hypocrisy, so I apologize for any erroneous implications.
The studies do indeed cite circumstantial evidence. I am not trying to imply that they stack the circumstances since my example of overpopulation occurs in the wild as well, but something occurring now and then in a species doesn't make it average, typical, usual, or normal. That's why I pointed out that taking the actions of some individual animals doesn't make a precedent for a lifestyle. Otherwise we would have to work toward a society that considers other occurrences to be normal as well.
The studies I was citing about parenting are referenced in some online articles which I had attempted to link, but apparently have not shown up. So, a simple google of 'adverse effects of homosexuality' should bring up those articles on top.
Stephen Fry appeared in more than two episodes of Whose Line as after a break he appeared in one of the later series. Still it's always amusing to watch him.
