As always superb camera work, not into diesels, but still enjoyed,by the way my Aunt Jenny was from Carmarthen, went once by train, when i was 7or 8 about 65yrs ago when dad worked on railway, this just jolted my memory
@firemanvic36c A lovely story Vic, it won't have changed much since then , and I'm delighted that even a diesel video has brought back some happy childhood memories for you...Bob
@MonochromeLoco The whole years action will pass through here during April and May, leaving the rest of it a little bland to say the least, so every one counts....Thanks again Keith...it's much appreciated...Bob
Excellent video, I was on this tour and, seeing as it was passing through your territory, was looking forward to your videos. Despite the late running to Fishguard we actually managed to arrive at Bolton (where I got off) 3 early!
@37372 Thanks Tom, despite the delays, you couldn't have asked for better weather for your jaunt down to West Wales....fantastic to see the 37's back in Wales....Bob
Excellent footage mate. The Heart of Wales line really is beautiful, it makes a change from all these suburban lines.
It was an interesting day, had to do an emergency stop south of Ferryside as some prat walked across infront of us to get to the beach then promptly hid behind some rocks from all of our shouting. We were held up for quite a while too due to some problem at Carmarthen then on the way back the 47 had a moment of madness after leaving Crewe.
@Phil6219 Thanks Phil, it sounds as though there were many incidents to endure during the day, but hopefully it didn't prevent you from enjoying this lovely part of Wales...Bob
Superb footage yet again Bob..How great was it to see a couple of class 37's and a 47 back in southwales yesterday!!!...and well done 'Spitfire tours' for running such a glourious looking train and for putting up with 'Arriva' trains last min change of plans with such professionalism....maybe 'Arriva' should take a few tips.
@accubar I totally agree, there is little praise for the people behind these tours, that put in so much hard work in order that their customers have a great day out...Bob
I do like seeing these old vintage diesels, my very own teen era. I loved that shot as the train arrived at the station, in fact I was expecting to see it pull out from there too, but you didn't disappoint with the final long shot, marvellous scene.
@Bevoin1970 I was originally West of Carmarthen Paul, then the train was reported being nearly an hour late, so in case it went no further than Carmarthen, we went to the station, it then suddenly left when I was in the wrong place to do any filming..Can't win them all eh!...Thanks as always...Bob
@railwaylive We got held up for an hour going into Camarthen because of late running Arriva trains, and also we had to have an emergancy stop because a wedding party decided it would be to a good idea to take pictures of each other on the track. The Class 37 missed one of the people by inches.
@railwaylive Thanks for the rating, I'm not sure exactly why such a long delay, but I did hear mention that a thirteen coach train and three locos was a tight fit for Carmarthen station...Bob
Superb clips Bob. The locos look splendid in the spring sunshine. I had the priviledge of seeing County of Essex in action during her brief spell at the Mid-Norfolk railway.
@DavidMichael182 Thanks very much for watching, and it's great to hear that you enjoyed your visit to West Wales, despite the problems earlier.....Bob
That last shot is terrific. Were you per chance stood on a large block of concrete with another guy? If so, I do believe I saw you as we passed. Thanks for sharing.
@RallyBasher Thanks very much, and it was me and a friend of mine stood on that bunker..well spotted, and I hope, that despite the problems that you enjoyed your day out to West Wales...Bob
Got some photos of this at Carmarthen . Any idea what caused t edelays with this. I know there was problems with the doors not closing properly on the pacer which worked the 14:00 Swansea - Pembroke Dock .
@veolia215 Not sure Anthony, but it was rumoured that a train of thirteen coaches and three locos was too long for the smaller platforms at Carmarthen...Bob
@robmasterman Yes i noticed that the train was longer than the platform at Carmarthen although it was only the class 47 that was beyond the signal at the top of platform 1
again, Bob you have produced a fantastic compilation of the day. as I encountered, it was difficult to make any shots of the train at Carmarthen due to the long train length
@JPMiller14 Thanks Justin, I was going to catch it West of Carmarthen but when it was delayed, I came back to the station, then wasn't able to get back out in time...Bob
a few fine clips there Bob. fair flying in the last one, cheers.
