What a spectacular recordings. As much as I listen to these 30s sides from Bob Wills, I never get tired of them. Nobody quite managed to duplicate this magic ever again.

Yeah, tastes change - and the industry feeds from its menu. Even the later Playboy sessions went 'Hollywood', became over produced and not to my liking. This session I rave about likely offended many country conservatives in its day. But I'm so glad we can still get much of what we want; thanks, 'Tube!

I've been blown away from this piece for decades - the best western swing, the best jazz, the best sophisticated steel work - done. Slap bass, add drums,... Just think, you tune in to you country radio station and what do you hear? And before the war. What a session!!!
