  • lindoooooo muito bommm perfefomicccc fint fantasticcccc

  • Curt's live performance has definitely improved over the years

  • essa musica é demais, mas bem que ele poderia ter feito uma linha de baixo mais criativa á exceção do meio da música!

  • Massively, massively under-rated!!

  • @jessicatimelady

AWWWW! I like Bakerman! Oh well I asked for it.

  • Esta musica é 10 !!! , otima aprezentação!

  • Good music. Better than today. How can I Be sure? I just am.

  • Yes, that's Roland on the guitar. And as for him being out of key......it's a very, very hard song to sing live. His studio version of it is AMAZING, so if you think you can sing it better.....let's hear it!

  • I think he is very out of tune :p

  • Curt Smith is sooooo handsome.. What a sweet face ....

  • love this song...someone please invent a time machine so i can go back to when music was good, before x-factor & rap music...please...

  • the other guy playing guitar is that roland

  • I WOULD HAVE BEEN HERE IF I WASN'T -6 YEARS OLD

  • How could I be sure that the TFF boys actually played what this pretends? If they did, then apologies and respect, greater achievement than what I would expect.

  • @chazuke no fucker mimed back then...........

  • Gosto muito dessa música !

  • I fukin love 80s!!! tears 4 fears rules!

  • great live performance.

  • The 1 dislike is from the 1985 Ratt fan who used to pick on me for liking bands like this.

  • I love this

  • Is the keyboard player stiff or what. Can he actually play?

  • Does TFF tour the US anymore..... ? For that matter, do they tour at all ?

  • @violatormark yeah they are gunna be in california in september.

  • This is the first or the second Pale shelter on this show?

  • This is fuckin awesome!!!

  • Used to listen to this on my WALKMAN back in 1984 time has made no difference on this album.......fukin timeless

  • @TheTwilightalehouse

What the hell is a walkman? I was born in 95 soooo

  • @badboyforlife10195 look it up.......

  • and u missed the best era of music too unlucky

  • @TheTwilightalehouse

    I still listen to it.

  • @badboyforlife10195 y'know i'm sorry for you... that's all I can say!

  • @MrKarpote

I looked up a walkman, it looks like a dumbed down version of the ipod.

  • @TheTwilightalehouse Was it a Sony?

  • @JohnLawrenceCobraKai yep silver wish i still had it ,,,,,,,

  • @TheTwilightalehouse I wish I was born in 1962 so I could be in my 20's for the 80s. You are lucky, sir.

  • @stewardo I was 13 in 1980 and back then i thought duran duran ,,,,,spandau ballet ,,,wham,,,,what where the equilevant of 80's boy bands were shit....But when i hear any 80's song on the radio i know i was blessed to grow up in the 80's.Todays music is a massive pile of shit.

  • @TheTwilightalehouse can't let kids even listen to today's crap.

  • @TheTwilightalehouse lol so are you saying that in 20 years I'm going to appreciate today's music? I hope not :P

  • @stewardo If u gone tone deaf.....hehehehehe

  • @stewardo

    /sign

  • @TheTwilightalehouse I was 4 in 1980, but yep loved me 80's music, cant beat it ay.

  • @chchtemptress It is true......

  • @TheTwilightalehouse You're right on every count: today's music is inferior, 80s music was far better than we gave it credit for at the time, and duran duran, spandau ballet and wham were shit.

  • @deckbose But now when u here it ........let me guess u smile...

  • SOOTHES MY SOUL

  • This song give me shivers up my back...all good : )

  • well...i was looking at Flock of Seaguls live and i was a bit humored :P then i was like how bout tears for fears?....seemed to make me shut up lol damn ther good live lol better actually lol

  • 80's music trumps all. even the led zeppelins and bob segers and whatever came before. every conribution was pivotal in the 80's. every other generaton had bright spots with huge rock bands. this was the most creative and consistent time in music history. and im glad to have been born and grown up in that decade. pure gold that i will carry in my pocket until the day i die.

  • this is such am amazing live performance!!!!!!! and curt on that bass!!!!! AMAZING!!!! curt was sooooo cute too!!!!!! <3 u curt!!!!!!

  • @thebeatlespaulluv "and curt on that bass!!!!! AMAZING!!!! " GREAT BASS LINE

  • Amazing!!! Too bad today's music sucks soooo bad.

  • FedeTFF ,Curt obviously has watched your video he tweeted about it and left a link to here ; )

  • I broke the tape from listening so much (other side was alphaville, Big in Japan)(compilations and all)

  • @magikelly same here with me. i hated when tape does that

  • <3

  • Impressive, & not just the haircuts

  • memories fade but there songs will always linger on !

  • That Roland certainly got acquainted with the pies as the eighties progressed.

  • I`m agree with you! Nobody makes anything good!!!

  • Good times... the best times! 80's was the best age of pop music.

    thanks for posting.

  • @MrSKINFLICK hahaha! so why did you REMOVE your earlier 'stupid' and 'insulting' remark? post it back so people can read. ohh..you are really on drugs :-)

  • @MsPink68: Look at your embarrassing profile and stop bitching other people. You seem to have nothing but problems. • @MrSKINFLICK P.S. 'say no to drugs'! hehehe! ...what a crazy creature...

  • What a trooper Curt is, love the wry smile from him @ 1:26 after his voice goes a bit on the "SURE" - he keeps going though & what a performance to hit those high notes! People just don't do live performances like this anymore

  • That's what was playing on the radio in the 80's - so much better than much of today's music... Thanks for uploading this nice musical memory!

  • the response is completely in command.....not Baker MAn

  • very niiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiceeeeeeeeeeee!!!!!!!!!!! song great performance

  • This is the song right here!

  • brilliant performance by all! The singing was so close to the studio version!

  • I always heard it wrong, I'm assuming,

"When all I want to be is....Your 'Baker MAN'?"

some one set me straight. I know that's not what he's saying but I'm in a brainloop that must be corrected. .... By the way I love miss-heard lyrics

  • @240ups haha! your funny

  • That bass line is awesome! How does Curt playing and singin during that bassline I don´t know... that is a hard thing to do!!!

  • manny elias is awesome..wish he would return to TFF

  • I'm not a drummer but I love the little fills Manny Elias does at 0:40 for instance which weren't on the single...shame as it would have made it even better

  • @pawnsacrifice1 Yea, it is nice! Should have been in the official version.

  • man! They sure do have a lot of energy..and curt sings really well on this song...

  • what a bass!!

  • Best live performance Ive seen of them!

  • nooo roland is beautiful he!

  • curt is beautiful here .. such a powerful voice

  • they just had a concert in manila and it was amazing! check it out! omg, they're so cute here

  • @MsPink68 for reals??

  • fucking love his little bass solo or whatever you wanna call it

  • @rainbowsfordays no not a solo just the way he plays it :)

  • coolest 80s music! TFF!

  • it's a pity that this band will never be rejoined again

  • @drexmistyca900 THEY JUST FINISHED THEIR TOUR .. CHECK OUT TEARS FOR FEARS MANILA 2010... amazing!

  • @drexmistyca900 rofl stupid, they already got back together! and are touring!!!!

  • yes yes yes yes yes yes

  • 80's RULE...no doubt about it..this was strictly New Wave...the BEST

  • strange...I have the same version on video, the only differecne is that Curts voice cracks at the end of one the second verse.....or this been edited ??

  • @sapsion There's two different concerts on video. Same venue, outfits, etc.

  • at 2:51 it sounds like he messed up the first part of those lyrics hahaha

  • So so good. Thanks for uploading.

  • CLASS ACT...

  • I think it is a shorter version. i saw it at 6 min 35 sec. on here somewhere, but originally saw it on demand so looked for it here and found it.

  • great band

  • This is a condensed version. The full original version has Roland adding in a nice rythym riff during the bass solo.

  • MrHooLee, is all the audio still the same? or has that been alterd too?

    thanks.

    ~ Zelda.

  • i want 2 go back to 1980

  • @perplexBlur

    Can I come with you?

  • @pawnsacrifice1

yah, we will use my time machine

  • @perplexBlur count me in!

  • awesome song!

  • My favourite song from my favourite album - The Hurting!

  • Awesome Performance..!

  • Singing that well and playing complex bass lines like that..very impressive, musicians often don't come like this nowadays

  • His bass lines starts really simple, but them it gets really complicated. And he doesn't do alternate picking.

I really can't get why he doesn't play on most of the songs

  • The lyrics of this song remind me of a doomed romance with a girl whom I ironically kissed for the first time in a bus shelter. These guys were good !

  • did she press charges?

  • No, but she jumped on the first bus that came, even though it was going in the opposite direction of her home. There is no TearsForFears song about a girl getting on a bus to avoid inept fondling; which is why I am able to accept that Roland Orzabal wasn't following & spying on me that evening and at other times despite the evidence in titles such as Woman In Chains (another doomed romance) and Mothers Talk (a chat I had with my mother about the weather). He DOES resemble the bus driver though..

  • Roland don't smile too much : (

  • Kickass version, better than the studio one!

  • enough with the "Kickass", that's getting awfully tiresome

  • Excuse me, what a deliciously superior rendition of the studio version this is.

  • So,so cool after all those years>fantastic & (for me)"happy" music !Still!

  • TFF forever

  • Excellent musicians.

  • Comment removed

  • j'adore cette chanson!

  • that arpeggio Roland lays down is arrogant , in a good way I mean..

  • That snare sounds so damn good.

  • @evolnieveilebi

Agreed...the drum is awsome on this version

  • saw them 1985 in Bonn. want to see them again in Gemrany. TFF is perfect. Roland come on...

  • Wow...didn't think they were so good live!

  • There was another version of this same song done at the same concert by Curt, it sounded better and they were more rested and lively, youtube asshat administrators pulled it, I know someone has to have it, I wish they would upload it, as I said , it was the same concert and Curt and Roland both had the same clothes on, it must have been an earlier show done on the same day, If I can find the show on tape or DVD , im gonna buy it, just for the better Pale Shelter version.

  • Its back up,under the account of DexBam, amazing version!!!Lots of improve.Look in the Playlist to the right, its there.

  • 3:27 haha

  • 2:30 xD ;-)

  • That was the style 30 years ago~

  • Yea, but notice it says 1983?

It's hair back then, not now :p

  • what a band nobody makes music like this anymore!

  • Yep, and thats so sad... i was born in 84, so everytime I start to search about the oldies and the 80´s I think the exactly same thing...

  • @joe221995 Well said!

  • Truly one of the GREAT songs of the 80s.

  • I preferr Roland vocals but Curt does do a great vocal on this song.

  • this is a great track!!!!! totally awesome

  • I loved the Roland's voice at the end!!!

  • When don't ya' love Rolands voice?!

  • ok correction....

I loved the Roland's voice in all the song.... and all the his songs xD

  • I love Rolands voice too!Theres not a better voice on the planet!!!!!!!

  • That's true

that voice is and still is awesome!!!

    xD

  • I'm not a big Curt fan, theres only a couple of his songs I really like. Now Roland is the man for me! I have been in a debate on the Elemental video here on you tube abiut this very subject. There are alot of Roland lovers!

  • OMG!!! I prefer Roland too, I think he is amazing and very handsome too :D and I love his voice and his songs and yes, he is the man !!!!!

    xD

  • TFF was very influential in mid 80, several rival bands (incl. Depeche, OMD, Spandau, Talk Talk) copied their massive sound and chanting songs.

  • brilliant bassline.Curt plucks the strings as well as using the pick.oh and he' s also singing.i believe this is a blinding version of Pale Shelter

  • this has got to be my favourite live version of Pale Shelter.very pleasant to listen to.and i cannot get over how baby faced Roland and Curt are!they were all of 22years old

  • great bassline

  • Tears for Fears were great! I remember their songs crystal clear as if i am back to my early childhood again. And yeah, Curt was really hot!

  • Why didn't we hear of Tears for Fears until 1985, when at 17 I heard 'Everybody Wants to Rule the World' for the first time on MTV????
