I did ear candling the other day.. The first time I had a wonderful; experience.. This time it was a terrible experience. I did the test candle hoax.. Just to see if what I did wasn't a good thing. I wish I checked this out before I candled my ears. I use a soy and bee's wax formulated ear candle. Well when we were finished.. I cant hear. that isn't ear wax that's the candle drippings All an ear candle accomplishes is it softens your ear wax so that you can use a q tip and have better results because your ear wax isn't so hard and compacted due to the heat from the ear candle but all that collected in the candle is not ear wax. I used to do ear candling... then one day I opened up a candle that I had not used, and it looked exactly the same. It already has the debris in there.

Ear candles were actually proven to be a hoax even back in the 90's, the residue collected inside the hollow lower part of the candle is all originated from the candle. Also, you shouldn't forget the possibility of injury (e.g. hot candle wax straight into your ear) if something goes even a little bit wrong. I'm surprised ignorant little shits like yourself still swear by them. I assume it's safe to say that you also fear the full moon and like to toss (pun intended) salt over your shoulder?

In that case you must be a plain old idiot, while it is true that scientists aren't always right (at least not on the first time, theories evolve), ear candles have been proven enough many times to do absolutely no good while the potential to do harm is roughly the same as giving a 3 year old a pen and asking him to clean your ears. For your sake I urge you to look into this issue and find out the truth before you or someone you care about goes around playing with the candles and ends up deaf.

Perhaps some ear candles are not as good as others - but having an otiscope (sp?) and seeing the that the gucky nasty wax that was impacted in the canal is no longer there but is found inside the bottom of the ear candle... I trust results I can see. However I can also be open minded to other people's experiences. If you do try this please have someone help you who knows what they are doing and has experience. It is very easy to cause serious damage.

@Soloartist18 I would have tried it, too! Did you ever get the "little spoon"? One of the technical terms is curette. I heard say once that using the metal "blackhead remover" tool you can sometimes find at either Wal-Mart or your local drugstore chain works for gently easing the wax out of the ear. :)

freekygeek is right. There is enough stuff on the internet to show that the "wax" is from inside the candle and is produced because of the heat. One person did an experiment using a small glass phial and attaching the ear candle to it to simulate a session. When opened it had all the same debris in it as if it was a real person. There has also been accidents where the wax has dripped on and set to the ear drum.

The American Medical Association and FDA, Have done multiple test that show that Ear candling does not Pull or suction any wax from your ear. The material found inside the candle is soot and debris from the candle it self. Sorry.
