  • 0:58 The Sun Wheel Looks Tall!

  • I just went there two months ago, and I'm going back in a few weeks. I can not wait.

  • haha this is so cool! i want like to see how they did the grizzly peak thing i never understood if it was made out of rock or so,ething haha

  • Ah man, that orange ride used to be FUN! (R.I.P.)

  • @juneradar It's still there, just without the orange. LOL

  • The 4 things that weren't bad ideas for DCA, Soarin' and Hollywood Tower and Grizzley river and California Screaming.

  • @Smallpoxproductions But you have to remember the Tower of Terror wasn't in the park when it opened. It was added to save the already suffering park (despite the fact it had opened a couple of years before!)

  • @Blu923the2nd So it had 3 good ideas when it opened wow

  • i remember when they had a tent before the main entrance showing a preveiw of what calif adventure would look like. i told and wrote them that this was a wrong move to do . i suggested instead just expand tomorrow land behind space mountain and expand jungle cruise ride, also expand main st and etc. etc but noooo! so who laughing now , they send me a letter saying thanks but no thanks now they admit they are wrong , and now they will have the guest pay for ther stupid mistakes! ha, ha,

  • This video is sad, they should of made it right the first time, even if the grand opening would been opened in 2005 or something

  • Too bad most of that stuff no longer exists and some of it won't even be recognizable for too much longer. I think the saddest replacements/removals would have to be them getting rid of the Mailboomer and altering of the main entrance, especially the removal of the big CALIFORNIA letters.

  • I'm thinking. If WestCOT was built, we would have never seen favorites such as California Screamin, Tower of Terror, World of Color, etc.

  • @Setheo1CP

The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror opened at Walt Disney World's then Disney-MGM Studios Park in 1994. It opened at Disney's California Adventure Park in 2004 so it already existed. If DCA was WestCOT, ToT would probably of been built as it is at Tokyo DisneySea park, which is not a Studio park. WestCOT could have World of Color as there would be a big open lake in the middle for it. California Screamin' is probably th only thing that wouldn't have been created.

  • didnt there used to be like a freight train yard where california adventure is now?

  • @GtaModRevange it was originally the parking lot for Disneyland.

  • i remember when i was little and there was nothing but disneyland and how empty the space was!! :O :O :P haha!

  • 0:52 "Hey, get back here!"

  • after all the work. they change everything...

  • disneyland was originally supposed to be built in san diego but the city's price was too high or something. so anaheim got disneyland and us at san diego got sea world

  • @simpsonsdumbhead ]

    Burbank, by the studios.

The city thought that Disneyland was gonna be like a carnival and refused Walt the land. The Anaheim location was the result of, more or less, surveying for potential growth of Southern California.

  • @simpsonsdumbhead it was supposed to be in Burbank, not San Diego. Burbank refused to let Walt build the park. The orange grove in Anaheim was bigger than the land where the park would have been if it were in Burbank.

  • you know with the amount of money it takes to open a park... disney has some serious balls... good for them

  • @seangames111 actually, California adventure was a very cheap park for a Disney park...

  • I think Disney made the right decision on making this instead of WestCOT. WestCOT needs WAY more than 55 acres to be a great park. But, I would LOVE to see Disney make this park in another location close to Anaheim just for the park.

  • I think all of this will be for the better, except for removing the letters from the entrance! I love the "California" entrance!

  • i think california adventure would do better if they themed it all to pixar. they're already making it lean towards becoming a pixar park, and its such a strong part of disney history now...

  • Persony, I still believe there is hope in DCA. It's a great park that I loved for many years, it just needs a bit of the Disney touch to it to make it a household name. And the expansion will do just that. Can't wait!

  • they should bulit a water park next to disneyland and DCA. like the one in FL.

  • @zoeymsi182 the water park idea was in the works for some time in the past while DCA was finishing getting built but it fell through when the owners of a strawberry field near the park decided not to sell after all, it would of been nice

  • Looking back at the previews of this park from when it was being built, you can tell it was not going to do well. I really hope the expansion does a lot for this DCA as I believe it can become a full day park and not just a half day park

  • WestCOT would have been a better fit, but oh well.

  • i agree, but considering what they did to epcot on the east coast....eh i wouldn't want to see that happen again on the west lol. tony baxter had a really great idea, building an epcot in cali. he's one of today's best imagineers in my opinion

  • The 'Disney Decade' would have unfolded much better if Disneyland Paris was either constructed less expensively or canceled altogether, thereby freeing up possible funding for both WestCOT and the proposed DisneySea resort in Long Beach. I also think Eisner should have stepped down in the early 90s as well. By that point he was becoming a destructive egomaniac.

  • indeed! can you imagine a world without eisner? or even a world with a real epcot, you know, an actual experimental prototype community of tomorrow!!! we would have flying cars and a cure for cancer by now lol. and of course no global warming, because the everyday need for a car would be eliminated, everyone would have a peoplemover station next door!

  • @NitekMuscle Actually, I think building DCA was a better choice than to build WestCOT. If WestCOT were built, EPCOT wouldn't be special anymore and every Disney park has to be special and unique. Take the blame on Paul Pressler and Cynthia Harris for making DCA look like an ugly duckling in 2001.

  • @NitekMuscle the thing is, there were problems

    1. Lack of money (thank you Disney Paris...)

    2. Lack of room. The only way, was to buy Katella, and put some park on that site.

But DCA is fun too, even though WestCOT would be more fun. Due to the expansion, they might become equal though...

  • cool! it rox you rock!!now i am very happy that disney california andventure it get billion dollars new look ! that new toy story maina it sweet ride

  • i want my parking lot back

  • Leave your car at the hotel and take the shuttle bus, its easier to get to Disneyland fron your hotel.

  • lol yeah that's what i do, but it still seemed more convenient to have the parking lot right in front of the park itself

  • now i am very happy that disney california andventure it get billion dollars new look ! that new toy story maina it sweet ride
