The Man in Black seems evil by what he does and says but when they show him in Locke, he seems like the good guy.

In Locke form, he is honest with people and doesn't seem evil.

I don't get it...but I love it!

I can see it going either way.. I can see MIB being a prisoner trapped there by an evil jacob

I can also see an evil MIB being held prisoner (rightfully so) by a good Jacob

or perhaps it's neither

Perhaps MIB and Jacob are not good and evil, but two forces / entities in a bitter battle

i agree, and i think he played his role like evil locke.

Yeah he did, same personality and everything. I would bet that Locke was always meant to become Smokey, (or the other way around?) like his destiny was to be the vessel for him/it. But I've been wrong before, lol
