From what I've read on the internet, Sudan is divided into two groups, which are the Northern Muslims and the Southern Christians. The Janjaweed, the group partially responsible for the mass slaughtering, are from the North. There has always been "tension" between both sides, clashing religions and basically a fight for resources like land, water, etc. It's just that since 2003 or 2002 the UN's taken notice of how many have died due to this tension.
The reason this is so heinous is not just because thousands upon thousands of people are dying, but also because the Sudanese govt. is responsible for sponsoring these terroristic groups like the Janjaweed. In a wikipedia article that I read, Omar al-Bashir (President of Sudan) has been charged by the International Crimminal Court for creating a plot and following through with the massacre of "three tribal groups in Darfur because of their ethnicity." Omar al-Bashir denies it.
Yet even with these charges against him, men and women are still being killed, women are being raped by their husbands' dead bodies, children have lost their parents and are in search of help and security. There is a recorded 5,590,000 people who have been displaced so far and a remarkable 675,000 people killed. Still, the govt. has covered up a substantial amount of evidence, which is why journalists and anyone who has tried to expose this barbarity for what it really is has been "silenced."
in fact, the genocide in darfour has nothing to do with muslim-christian issues. there are two separate genocides that happened in soudan:
1-the sudan civil war: mainly in the 80's between the norths muslims and the south non-muslims (christians and animists). it resulted in 2 million deaths.
2-the genocide in darfour: happening as we speak, between muslim arabs (janjaweed and gvmnt) against muslim african tribes (mainly fours, zaghawas, and masalits), so far around 300 000 deaths...

From what I've read on the internet, Sudan is divided into two groups, which are the Northern Muslims and the Southern Christians. The Janjaweed, the group partially responsible for the mass slaughtering, are from the North. There has always been "tension" between both sides, clashing religions and basically a fight for resources like land, water, etc. It's just that since 2003 or 2002 the UN's taken notice of how many have died due to this tension.

In a wikipedia article that I read, Omar al-Bashir (President of Sudan) has been charged by the International Crimminal Court for creating a plot and following through with the massacre of "three tribal groups in Darfur because of their ethnicity." Omar al-Bashir denies it.

1-the sudan civil war: mainly in the 80's between the norths muslims and the south non-muslims (christians and animists). it resulted in 2 million deaths.
2-the genocide in darfour: happening as we speak, between muslim arabs (janjaweed and gvmnt) against muslim african tribes (mainly fours, zaghawas, and masalits), so far around 300 000 deaths...

If you are from a wealthy nation then you should choose not to perchase products that are made in china. The chinese government will do absolutely everthing and anything in its power to help the sudanese government in order to gian controll of the rich oil fields in Sudan and the government will continue to commit some of the worst atrocities ever known on the people of Darfur as long as they are still being backed by china. I'm a Palestinian my people have experienced the exact same thing by the hands of the Zionists since 1917. We were killed, displaced, uprooted and ethnically cleansed and we're still not recognized as refugees or as people with any rights. Definitely it's the difference in skin pigment that has kept a cloth over America's (our) eyes on this subject. Why should we care (I suppose some think)? Well, what's come mainly to the forefront is Hollywood/entertainers doing much, much better at reporting. Still, as far as the documentary goes, I'm not religious, but I can still see that I need to research this human issue in greater detail and do what I can, SOLELY, out of love for my fellow bothers and sisters of shared existence.
