@ron6244 He was hounded out by the religious right because he WOULDN'T join the Monica witch-hunt. Look up the speech he gave apx 3 days after the whole thing broke, where he described it as "The Lewinsky nonsense", and he all but told Clinton to hang in there and NOT to resign, because Clinton was a good president to work with. He condemned the impeachment and regularily criricised those involved, because the whole stupid thing did far more damage to the Republicans than to Clinton.
