Sorry John, but people should be allowed to do yoga every now and then or every single day if they want to. Yoga isn't about if you're not gonna do it every day then you're out. I think you're stretching this a bit and trying to find something that's not there.
Sorry for the delay, Jack! Though a 100 different people will offer 100 different interpretations, I think it can be distilled down to how we try to connect to that is beyond the material or physical plane.
While I am here, I will answer artzdesire's other question (without squirming). Enlightenment, to me, is the absorption of the individual consciousness into all that is (and is not).
Cookie cutter yoga can never work because people need different "doors" into yoga: different types of physical practice (active or relaxed, longer or shorter, etc.) or even starting with one of the non-physical practices (e.g. chanting or studying the ideas). Also, once you have practiced enough, you *must* listen to what is inside you and practice accordingly (thus my user name :-) ).
And - $100 per month? Let me help you cut that down. ;-)
To be fair, I think John is providing an invaluable service and I think he is a great voice within the yoga community. It is important to check in with how things are done and determine whether it can be done more mindfully. The book is awesome, the movie is awesome, and John is a wonderful guy.
Don't forget to purchase the book by john philip.... it will cost you just $30... Im sure it will put practitioners and studio owners on the right path.. Maybe he can come out with some t-shirts too to show your in the club. very complex topic
I love yoga. It destresses me and keeps me toned. However, I do realize that it's a racket. It's over $100 a month and I don't really think that's necessary

Ted: I'm impressed. Bikram studio owners are trying to carve out their terrotorities. I teach to serve my community in a positive way
