Elizabeth is a self centered and snobbish ditz. Her sister in law and Demelza had to help out with Francis and Geoffrey Charles were ill because Dr. Enys didn't trust her to do the right thing. All she cared about was status and comfort....Demelza was a much more substantive and compassionate person, and therefore a much more attractive character.
@nessie96 elizabeths character is one who was always protected and had expectations of breeding but her character has grown and developed into a compasionate and loving woman who cares deeply for her family and friends her character and demelza's work together wonderfully and i admire both for their differences great writing huh and brilliant acting by both actresses
If she was so great in the sack they why did Francis cheat on her fairly soon after they were married? She's too selfish to be great in the sack.
I have the feeling Demelza would be fun not only in the sack but to be friends with as well. She really was the better match for Poldark. Elizabeth knew she was not. That's why she dumped him for his rich cousin. Francis only really comes off well in the end because he died at the right time. He would have messed up at some point.
@19rude87 According to the book "Warleggan", she isn't, and we have that from Ross himself. At the end, when Ross is trying to explain his night with Elizabeth to Demelza, he tells her that he was looking for the equal of what he had with Demelza, and for him it wasn't there.
@livvielouly94. Demelza may have a pretty face, but to me she remains a girl. Elisabeth may have her faults, but she is a woman. I never understood - and still can`t - how a grown bloke like Ross could prefer a young lass to a grown woman.
@morgandrim elizabeths character is stuck in her high bred loyaties and expectations as such she is never likely to break those bonds. She is beautiful and a great woman. Demelza's character is fun, loyal, and extremely fierce to back her husband no matter what. She won Ross through her loyalty and hard work and can't really be compared with young girls that take older men thru there youthful whiles well thats my tak on it anyway
I am so totally eating this up! I watched this years ago and but the series has aged well and is still as entertaining when I first viewed it. So great to watch great stuff w/o commercials! THANKS!

Tremendous effort, grateful thanks from the still active and hugely loyal Poldark fans who absolutely adore this TV production. Robin Ellis made this part his own, a superb actor, gorgeous, handsome and still the sexiest man on TV.
