  • Hi Elissa. How much was this officetel? Do you know around about the price range for such officetels? I'm looking to move to korea in feb. 2010, and wanted to know my options. Thanks so much!

  • is there like any night clubs and bars near apartments in busan, and how much is rent usually

  • wow thats a nice/huge apartment!

  • No, I worked for CDI, a company that owns academies all over, including Ilsan. Ilsan is a relatively new development, so there's a good chance you'll have an officetel.

  • did you work for a public school? im planning to work in ilsan and hope to have an officetel but i dont know if it will work out that way since i wont know until i get there...

  • A: To try and work for larger companies like CDI or Wallstreet or YBM, because there are about as many small 'academies' claiming to be well-reputed business that have sprung up over night as there are convenience stores. and B. To respect the culture. A lot of foreigners think they can act like jerks just because they're white and that pisses off the Koreans, understandably. Then teachers get into trouble. Haha, long response, hope that answers your question.

  • It depends. Do you mean teachers scamming companies or vice-versa? I believe both occur in Korea, just like any other country. The reason they get so much publicity is that the cultural barriers that exist aggravate situations, which then get blown out of proportion. That being said, I have heard horror stories. The best way to avoid being a victim, in my opinion is (see next comment)

  • I saw on the State Department's website there are alot of scams involving ESL teachers. Have you seen any evidence of that?

  • Hi. The apartment is in Seomyeon, which if you look at a subway map of Busan, is in the centre of the city where the orange and green lines intersect. I don't live in Korea anymore and never had the contact info (company took care of it thankfully) but if you want a place like this just specify that you would prefer an "officetel" type of apartment, which is what Koreans call more modern places. Other good areas to live are Gwangan and Haeundae (east on the green line) hope this helps and g'luck

  • Hi! :) My husband & I are planning to move to Busan later in the year & we (along w/ everyone else viewing your apt. video) absolutely love your apartment! If you find the time, I would SO Greatly appreciate if you could tell me your apartment location details or contact details...basically anything that could point us in the right direction for finding an apt. like yours. Thanks in advance for your time & I look forward to hearing from you! Hope 2009 is treating you well! :)

  • Please can you tell me how have you find this apartment??How much cost it?? and please I will viist next year Busan with my friend. Please can you tell me the contact data from the person who have give you the apartment?? Thank you sooooooooooooooo much!!!!!!!!!!

  • No dryers in Korea. Everyone uses drying racks. Good in the winter cuz floors are heated, dries pretty quickly, not so much in the summer...

  • do they have any dryer..all i see is the washing machine.

  • uh yeah, except i'm already out of the country and the apartment has been passed on to Koreans, no problems whatsoever. dunno which CDI you worked for...

  • Its nice - but email me when you realize the catch - former CDI instructor - They stuck you here cuz they want you stuck to the deposit which is 100000000000000000 WON. Trust me! They will force feed you boshingtang if you don't do what they say.

Also, this is not korea! this is international free trade zone backed by USA military. Its US property.

  • Your apartment is nice, but it doesn't look as good as you in that dress at the beginning of the video.

  • It is pretty nice for single people, and it's a free housing too.

  • It's definitely not free.

  • Yours aren't?

  • No way. I pay monthly rent, utilities, gas, etc.

  • I see, but I've heard that most of them (ESL teachers) get a free housing. I guess you make more $ than others. I like your apt compared to others (studio apt). thanx 4 posting.

  • elissaturpin, dear, it is easy to make the video in the time and file space required by youtube. Use 640x480 video with divx compression and Mp3 audio - just check out the "help" section of the youtube website. Oh, and anyway, nice video!

  • I'm a teacher and my roommate and I have been taking turns as head instructors (basically like a faculty manager)at our school. Company is CDI.

  • What do you do in Korea?

  • wow the view is sooo nice...it looked too..unreal..like a screen saver for a computer or something..lol

anyways i love the apartment. thx for the post

  • Ha ha I can't tell if you're making fun of me or not (sarcasm being difficult to detect online). But we like it...! ^^

  • no, seriously, its really nice i love it

  • okay...gotta know the name of your school. Your apartment and view is in the top 99% of the videos I have watched. And...are they hiring?

  • I work for CDI (Chungdham Institute), what I believe is the 2nd largest English Institute in Korea (but don't quote me on that). They are always hiring in Busan and Seoul. While CDI will usually set you up nicely, we got pretty lucky with this place...it really depends more on what location you want to be working at.

  • Where in Busan are you living? Is it near Hwamyung? I am trying to get a feeling of what to expect from apartments in that area.

  • We're living in Seomyeon. Hwamyeong is about 30 minutes from here by Subway. However Hwamyeong is in a newer part of the city so in terms of apartments you should be able to get something pretty decent. There is also a pretty good foreigner community there (from what I'v eheard), mostly Brits.

  • Thanks for the info. By the way, do you know if the Saha are around Dadaepo is really poor and run down? Or is it nice, I have heard two versions.

  • I haven't been to Saha, but from what I've heard it's a rather new area as well. It's away from the center of the city too, so there's a good chance it's newer. Also, the company I work for has branches in Hwamyeong and Saha, and our company generally opens in the nicer parts of the city (it's where the money is at)...
