@TheComputerOwnage WRONG! 1080Psf and 1080i are the same - EXCEPT the PsF one stores the progressive frame in the two segments, and not two images. 1080p uses ONE image to store ONE image. 1080pSF uses TWO fields to store one image. 1080i uses ONE of the TWO fields to store ONE image.
1080i IS 720P with interlacing to create line doubling. It's the same actual resolution. 1080i would never 'downscale' (not that it's true downscaling, just de-inerlacing) to 480P. That's just not logical.
you are correct about the line doubling, but THAt also depends on frame rate. 720p @ 30 FPS is technically the same frame rate as 1080i 60fps, but pixels are totally different
Get ur HDMI cables from Amazon or Ebay for cheap I got all mine frome there I running 4 diff HDMI sources and all my Cheppy HDMI cables are great even the 50 footer to the projector
i do have ps3 for gaming and i decided to get the Blu-Ray movie. and i try to play it to my HDTV Samsung which supports 720p. When i finally played it, it seems like it has the same resolution with a standard DVD. Can help me with that?
are you using HDMI? it makes a HUGE difference. Also blu-rays can go to 1080p. 1080i isn't as good as 1080p but if you have to choose from 1080i and 720p pick 720p.
anybody know why my PS3 wont do Blu Ray movies in 1080p but only in 1080i? i alreadywent into display and checked it. My 360 automaticlly runs movies at 1080p tho so i dunno wtf is going on
u said you went to display settings and checked that it's 1080p, also it depends on what your watching. if it's a TV show it may only be in 1080i but movies should go to 1080p. Also try HDMI
Yeah, I actually cannot notice the difference, but just the fact that it's not a solid frame scares me into getting a headache. Progessive is the way to go. And also, I read somewhere that technically there are only 540 lines on screen at a time with 1080i.
with 1080i there ARE only 540 lines at a time because; it's interlaced. the first 540 lines are vertical and the second 540 lines are horizontal. even though it's 60fps and not 30, i still like 720 lines better.
1080p is a resolution of 1920x1080 which is Full HD
720p is a resolution of 1280x720 which is a lower version of HD
= higher resolution means more pixels on your TV therefore better quality.
hope this helps.
oh and 1080p and 1080i are the same.

Can't you just use 1080p instead of 480p, 1080i and 720p?
gokuzx 11 months ago
@gokuzx as talked about in the video, this disc doesn't have that option.

technicly 720p is higher quality than 1080i simply because it actualy uses the WHOLE screen! and dosent try to gimmik you with an optical illusion.

sorry but you are wrong. 720 p is short for:
1280 x 720 Progressive 1080i is short for:
1920 x 1080 Interlaced.

it depends on your display actualy kidda also 1080i is nearly the same as 1080p..
fretboarder 2 years ago
depends. if 1080i is 60fps, and 1080p is 30 the they are simmilar. but if they are both 60 1080p is better

okay...?

Do you usually watch Blu-Rays always in 720p or 1080p ?
The only way you can see a difference between 720p and 1080p if if the HDTV is over 50 inches.
Anything below 50 inches, 720p and 1080p will look identical.
Riddler95 2 years ago
i use 1080p. i have a 32' TV, so i REALLY notice the difference. I will only watch in 720p if it has a higher frame rate then 1080p
cheatingthesystem21 2 years ago
How do you like the 32inch unit ?
Riddler95 2 years ago
it's better than the 17" one i had! it's great, it specifically made for video games, so it looks great!

720p is better alot than 1080i.

Good job with the videos, man! You're absolutely right, 720p is higher resolution than 1080i. Progressive rules.
Remember to add a couple of seconds to the end of your videos to make sure they don't get cut off!
