  • Top Class.......brilliant

  • Had it not been for Sparks, Abba would have disappeared after "Waterloo". Ulvaeus and Andersson absorbed the Mael brothers' keyboard-driven staccato style like sponges.

  • iI KNEW RUSS AND RON..we wentto school together,,and russ sang a few songs in my band in 1969. they left for england and got a deal with island records,,,that was like 20 albums ago.

kimono my house is a classic in every song,,,earl mankey the lead guitar produced some fantastic Punk groups in LA later.

  • check out my homepage,iv got the rest of the songs from this session!!!!

  • Dinky Diamond's dead?! I haven't felt this bummed since I found out Glen Buxton of Alice Cooper died. You grow up with these people.

  • Thanks for sharing this great song!

  • Brilliant

  • great song...rip norman " dinky" diamond.

  • Blows my mind off. First time I heard that --almost 35 years ago-- I thought it was so weird. Now it seems so unbelievably great! Thank You.

  • Nice guitar playing Trev mate...from an old musical friend!

  • WOW! Where did this video come from?!

  • great song, im definatly buying it! 5 stars!

  • Actual live Sparks vids are rare! Thanks for posting it!

  • The best live version I have seen. I prefer this to the mimed stuff.

  • merry christmas indeed!

  • I love this!

  • What a powerful performance of this wonderful and special song! Pure magic!

  • Can anyone tell me what Russell is singing from 2:13 to 2:18 and from 3:00 to 3:04?

  • i think is some lirycs in german language.

  • Hehe, no, I don't think they're German.

  • They are americans believe it or not. I wonder if the singer for The Darkness was a fan of this group.

  • The closest German connection is that this video is from a German music programme from the 1970's by the name of 'Musik Laden'.

  • When I was a kid I thought Nina Hagen had also covered this song....

Or maybe I thought that this WAS Nina Hagen :D

This souned so much like some East German bands, but I was a kid and couldn't tell a difference between this and Nina Hagen so....

  • 2:13-2:18 - sounds like either German gibberish or Russell screwing the words up. It wouldn't be hard to do that, because its a hard vocal.

3:00-3:04 - "I want to thank you all for making this a moment of [unintelligible]." Best I could do. Hope it helps.

  • Haha, yeah. Wunder if he forget the words or he sings in german? That, we'll never know.. :/

  • good live version

  • what a belter of a live version of this 70s classic

  • This is how I wish this band should have stayed. You had the queen prescence along with King Crimson esque production and sound. Diving head first into new wave got them famous but also killed them artisticly. Great vocals and musicians. Doing sappy high school anthems should have been below them. They were as good as Sweet as a band. While I enjoyed the sappy humor at the time, I wish they would have rocked on without the porn stash keyboardist.

  • Check out their last two albums, "Lil' Beethoven" and "Hello Young Lovers" -artistically and musically brilliant.

By the way, mustachioed Ron Mael is a song-writing genius!

  • Yeah, I know. He was a major mark in the band but was hard to take and take seriously.

  • indeed, even before I read these comments I was wondering what was going on with him...giving people in the audience the evil eye or something...

  • All my friend thought I was weird for loving SPARKS? Well EAT THEM APPLES BABY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • This song is as good now as it was when i was 14 years old in 1974

  • You are right ,and I am 5 years older than you. So I understood this one. "All You Ever Think About is Sex."ahead of you....

  • yeh i know what your talking about ....lol

  • COOOOOOOOOOOL!!!!!!!

  • I could swear the guy on the keyboards is my math teacher

  • Man what is it about this sng that makes it so mindblowingly perfect?

  • Damn this stuff is addictive. I think this is how I should quit smoking. No wait, I've already tried that 700 times. Seriously, I counted.

  • Brain May made the wrong choice. Fantastic performance!!!

  • Sparks we salute you! Absoluty pure - enven at you live gigs now. Wow.

  • Great!!!

  • woW.sIOUXSIE COVERED THIS SONG.tHEY SHOULD BE BETTER KNOWN!

  • this song was such a big hit, worldwide....and after-

    wards?

  • i met them at a gig and chatted to them

  • One of the first pop songs that I was exposed to... no wonder Im the way I am !!!! LOL

  • Amazingly enough, Brian May almost left Queen in 1974 to join this mob!

  • Hmmm, in 1974? Are you sure?

  • Mob? What a jackass.

  • So? I think Queen is incredible, but Sparks isn't exactly a slouch.

  • THE CLASSICS! SUPERB VOCALS AND BACKING. EXeSTENTIAL LyriCISM. Oh Yeah!

  • SUPERB STUFF!
