I have 3 AK47s and an RPK and all I can say is I love the ruggedness of these guns. And the cheap ammo, like you note means you can practice and just fun dump all you want. Not to mention the 7.62s power compared to the 5.56, and yes accuracy drops faster after 200yards, but hell, most of us would be fighting in closer ranges. Shooting through walls is the best way to find out if someone is on the other side.

The AK-47, Great gun, has it's flaws such as the short sight length on the Iron sights, and the non-level firing mechanisms causing the gun to rise when fired, but the loose tolarences and 9 moving parts are the main cause of it's rock solid reliability.

And being able to shoot a rifle without the need of the upper receiver cover is always useful incase you ever need to "lightweight".

This is AK74 or atleast looks pretty much like it.The front barrel with muzzle brake.Note the Gas Tube design which was first introduced on AK74.The receiver is clearly from an AKM.I'm kinda confused since there are no "ribs" on it as there would usually be.Just because it hasn't got bakelite magazine doesn't mean it's automatically an 47.First versions of 74 had 5.45x39mm steel magazine.
