  • Years ago I worked at a motel and they had one LP, Nat King Cole. We played it over and over and over till I never wanted to hear him again. 40 years on I have seen the light. His voice is as smooth as Bailey's Irish Cream, it caresses and soothes and Stardust is done to perfection by him.

  • everytime i listen to old music i fall into a trance and state of nostalgia and think oh why i was put in this time why did i have to be born in 91 why

  • what can one say. I saw Nat many years ago at the Roxy in manhattan He strode on the stage,

sat at piano and played with a complete " Gift that he had" I was amazed at the music

  • One of the greatest Pop Recordings of All Time!!!

  • All-time great rendition of this song by Hoagy Carmichael. Wow!

  • Beautiful song, no doubt about it. What a wonderful voice this man had! Don't think anyone else can quite sing it like Nat King Cole. A classic.

  • I agree

  • Easily the most gorgeous vocal of this perennial favorite

  • How about props to Hoagy Carmichael who wrote on of the most perfect songs ever written.

Along with Georgia on My Mind.

  • this song touches my heart like the Moonbeam always did..................she was my yyentimi which in the Norwegian means girl mine................

  • this song touches my heart like the Moonbeam always did..................

  • and i am once again with you. i am headed where all these have gone.

  • I haven't heard a nicer song in a long, long time...

  • The "standard of all standards" sung by possibly the greatest pop song artist of all - pure perfection. Sinatra may be my favorite but it's painful comparing his renditions against Nat King Cole's. Nat was not as prolific in recording. Not fair to compare, but how can you possibly beat this?

  • @Jazz4Joe I'm with you here. I'm a giant Sinatra fan, but Nat just owns this one.

  • This is so gentle that if anyone ever attempts to change any single note of it anywhere, this perfection will be destroyed.

  • I love this song very much. I closed my eyes while listening to this song and I feel I am in those years. I feel like floating in the cloud. Nat's voice is so soul soothing. Thanks to whoever posted Stardust by Nat King Cole. This song will live forever in my heart.

  • This is what music really is;something that is beautiful and stirs the soul of the individual. How sad we have lost this ability to creat great music. This is the kind of music that brings tears to our eyes as we remember how things used to be and now are gone forever.

  • My gosh..it's soothing to the heart......

  • The definitive and ultimate Stardust. It simply transports one to another galaxy. Thank you

  • No dislikes...good. It will stay that way.

  • For all you Romantics out there, including those of you who may be alone tonight but who have memories to treasure!

  • I just got a tape of Nat King Cole yesterday along with one from his daughter.. I saw some songs on it that I thought would be the same ones that Michael Buble have sung.. I love Michael Buble and I had heard Nat King Cole was good as well so I thought I would buy the tapes.. got both for only 30 cents each.. I haven't listened to them yet but I think I will tonight.. :) I love this song

  • When I lived in Villach Austria and I would visit a small bar and the woman who worked there would always play this song by Nat when I came in.

  • "Stardust" gets my vote for the best American pop tune ever. A lot of great singers made memorable recordings of this, but I think Nat's is no 1. He had the perfect voice and style for this. Thanks for providing it.

  • Hoagy Carmichael's music, lyrics by Mitchell Parish... A soulful sentimental tune for those of us who remember loves past so fondly and with longing that spans yesterdays years ... My Favorite Song of all time sung by the consummate master of it's entrancing melody and his defining love letter to the ages, Nat King Cole's Stardust. For me, the epitome of melancholy melodies.

  • such a beautiful song thank you Nat for letting us have your voice to remember you rip

  • i love this song it's beutifull

  • SOOOOO beautiful!

  • This is Magic, and it enchants my heart.

  • A professional musician (a harpist, no less) once asked me the name of my favorite song. All I said was, "Music by Hoagy Carmichael, lyrics by Mitchell Parish....Stardust." Later that year she put it on a CD for me for my birthday. We will never listen to a more beautifully-composed song in our lifetimes.

  • A great song by a great singer. With all due respect to others who sang this song, Nat did it better.

  • The definitive version. Other singers have performed "Stardust" very well indeed; many such renditions are on record. But Nat NAILED it. His wam voice and lyrical style were perfect instruments for depicting the mood of this lovely song:) --

  • This man's voice absolutely shimmers like no other... this is truly the definitive version of this song!! Have you ever seen the movie "My Favorite Year"? It starts off with this!!

  • This is the most popular recording of "Stardust." The song, according to the Smithsonian, is the most recorded of any piece of music by an American composer. Thanks to Cto10121 for posting this.

  • @toscanini9 NO ONE should ever even try to record this song again for no one could ever do it more exquisitely than Nat.

  • I agree. I've always loved this song. Thanks for the comment! :D

  • I think this is the best version I have ever heard of this song. Beautiful orchestration and Nat make a great song truly excellent.
