My first point, which didn't make it up, was Jesus' existence as a man is not in question by scholars. His life was preserved by oral tradition between 80-100 years after his death. It was preserved by a culture rich in oral tradition and usually quite good about not INVENTING prophets and messiahs. That would have been a huge no-no in Jewish society.
