i have P45DE Asrock , can i overclock mine to 3.1 ghz ? what do i have to have , so it can run properly ? i have gt 9800 1gb , and 8 gb ram 800mhz ddr2
@WishPL Ok, how do i do this? There isnt any place i can do it in my bios, or maybe im not looking properly. I have an lenovo idea centre k230, intel q8200 6 gigs of ram gts 450 vista premium 64 bit
Hey I looked over idea centre k230, you have some factory made pc with very poor moderboard. It wont go over 1333 FSB which is reqiored for high frequency clocks. (Chipset Type:Intel G33 Express,Data Bus Speed:1333 MH). You need mobo that supports at least 1600 mhz FSB. ALso like I have mentioned %OC of q8200 and many others depends on your memory.
I've got an ASUS P5KC MB and i just clocked my Q8200 to 3.1 GHz, i think that's almost the maximum, maybe 3.13GHz. I got a Scythe Mugen 2 Rev. B, and The temperatures are between 49°C and 53°C on Toast, depending of the room temperature.
@just0408 how much of an overclock will depend also on the cooling u have. having stronger cooling alows for better temps and that alows for a higher clock. make sure that when you overclock that you monitor the temps when playing games. and yes most of the time there will be a noticeable increase
i have the q8200 on a p5q mobo, just clocked mine to 2.8 def a diffrence lovin it..i have the thermal take big water cooler kit on mine also...nice and cool prob gonna try clock 3ghz next
@realboys2 well there could be to reasons for this. A, ur mobo cant support that much of a overclock so it starts to crash, or B, ur ram cant take the overclock and starts to miss information as it passes through ur computer.
hi thanks for the great video .. i over clocked mine to 2.8 ghz with stock fan and didnt touch the vcore its automatic set to 1.3 my tempreture ranges in idle from 38'c to 55'c in heavy games on stock fan cooler (didnt add any cooler) is that good or too much heat for the q8200 ???? by the way my mb is gigabyte p43 and ram is 4gb ddr3/1333mhz kingston
@ashouhdy yeah thats a great overclock mines at 3.2GH/z and i get 62C in some games so u should be fine. but be sure to monitor ur temps so that way they dont go overboard kk.
Kdawg and others, I would check out my settings that I posted on the Steam forums. Locking down all of the voltages below the CPU Vcore to default settings severely improve overclocking stability. I have been able to take my Q8200 to 500FSB (3.5ghz) on standard DDR2 800 ram.
@scholzpdx its not going to be the same for everyone. all CPU's even though marked as the same AKA Q8200 in this case will not all overclock the same. so this shows the most direct way to overclock with out to much difficulty.
@LimiTvBreaK for me my CPU gets up to mid 60's C and runs fine its hard to say every CPU will act differently. And yes normally the CPU underclocks its self under none heavy use AKA idle to help prevent to much heat and to much power being taken. this is known as Speed stepping.
yes the x48 chipset, given the right board allows more lienent mem dividers/ NB volatges. 3.1 - 3.5 is the absolute clock speed on these cpu. and thats @ 3.68 - 3.7 volts which i would advise only on a liquid cooled board. if you having much trouble getting passed 2.8 your NB (north bridge) might need some volts. but those things heat up quick. check your motherboards website for reccommendations
@n4f13666 the only way to overclock intel CPU's is to overclock the ram as well. if u follow what i did then u ram should get to around 950 and thats not going to hurt the ram.
it depends on the cooling and what happens with the CPU. can i say it will shorten the life span yes by how much i dont know. if i were to overclock a computer and it be stable for only so long and then crash and then not fix the problem then yes ur CPU wont last as long. but if the clock is stable and then the life span of the CPU wont be effected as much. so i cant say how long mine will last just that it will do untill my next upgrade.
I have a q8200 and thinking of doing this to finish off my budget pc.
I want this processor to stay future proof, and last a very long time. Will raising the voltage from stock (which averages 1.15) to 1.2875 shorten its life span significantly or by a small amount?
normally raising the voltages will shorten the life span of a CPU if it dosnt have sufficient cooling. it also determines what ur overclocking to. the Q8200 overclocked to atleast 2.8GH/z will least i would say another few years. but also all CPUs are diff even though they are the same model. urs could last longer then others or its cant i wouldnt be able to say. But with proper care it should last u.
try to find a zalman 9500 or 9700 i think they will fit in ur case not to sure but they should do better. also get some arctic silver 5 thermal compound.
I think I will get the 9700, in my budget and fits. Thanks for your help. I am extremely happy now. My processor will certainly be future proof and good for games.
I have gigabyte ep45 ud3l version, I have also a Q8200. I have overclocked my Q8200 to 2,8ghz and in windows the tempature go to 65 degres and idle is 50 degres. is this can be because I didnt removed the old thermal paste and the one I have used is the one with comed with the arctic freezer 7 pro rev2. is the temperature can be caused becuase I didnt removed the old thermal paste and used a cheap one. take in note that the new thermal paste was come already applied into the cpu fan. help!
normally 500 is that max ull get with any quad but its all dependent on ur CPU some can go higher some cant get that high. whats ur multiplier at? because with a 7X multiplier and 496 ur getting 3.4gh/z not 2.7gh/z
What's up brother? I finally OCd mine. I switched my Vcore to 1.21, my cpu to 400 X 7, my ram freq to 333, and the system memory multiplier to 200. It runs smooth but I haven't noticed any increase whatsoever to my FPS
normally yes. if u have the same mobo as me follow my video and everything will be made clear. if u happen to have a diff mobo then ur best bet is to search it up and look at there instructions. im saying this because i wouldnt want anything to happen to ur computer do to misleading info. all mobo companies BIO's are diff. if u have a ASUS and i have a gigabyte they will look diff and have diff things on them.
no problem. if u have any other questions u can go to the steam forums at steampowered and not only me but a whole bunch of other people can help u with any problems.
is u notice that the CPU is unstable then just go back to the bios and change it accordingly. i dont see y u should have to change it. and everthing else looks perfect to me.
the Q8200 is awfull OC chip currently clocked at 2.8MHZ 400MHZ/7.0X 1601MHZ with core volts 1.25 to keep it stable NB volt 1.30 SB 1.50 100MHZ 333 its 400 max bus speed bottlenecks my 5770 i cant even get it any higher and im running it on a x48 rampage... gona go ahead and buy the Q9550 or I7
craching it if after overclock my computer is on and shotdown?? when i overclock cpu to 3.3 it crashing! do i need change vortages? (my all voltages on auto).
hey i have one more question though. i did more research on overclocking the q8200. what people are doing is they are using mb intelligent tweaker but the problem is my bios does not have this. How do i get mb intelligent tweaker???? how do i overclock my core then??? PLEASE REPLY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
thats because they are using a gigabyte mobo. every motherboard company will call their overclocking area something else. if u see no where to overclock ur CPU then u probably have a prebuilt system or a mother board from one that dosnt allow u to overclock.
oh I got this motherboard: 7A89PG0A Gigabyte AND i got two cooling devices: temp probe handler -0xFE00 cooling unit group 64 OEM defined 0x00004000 nominal speed-2308 rpm and the other says 0x00 None 0x00000000 nominal speed 0rpm
first, how do I know which fan I got? I really NEED to open the case? .. may be dumb question but isnt there a software out there that detects stuff like that or thats impossible?
second, Ive got Q8200 and I wanna know how much I could overclock it.
ok so if this is just the fan that came with the computer then u have a stock heatsink. and also if this is a prebuilt then there is no way that i know to overclock it.
Auto volting normally isnt the best because u can run the voltages abit lower getting lower temps. my temps with my cooler are normally 20 for the CPU and the cores 40-50C
i followed your guide here but when i try this, and i open up cpu z, its only reading 2574.4MHz. but if i left click on my computer and click properties it shows 3.0ghz. any help on what i did wrong or what i need to change. thanks, i appreciate your work.
its a feature called step clocking. it drops ur multiplier by 1 so that ur CPU dosnt operate at 100% when not doing anything. this save's power and helps the CPU to last longer.
Hey I have this componens q8200 ddr2 800 mhz and I overclock my prosesor to 3.00 ghz , (1.3000v) 2.00b, 333 mhz .and I play gta iv on max settings and my cpu is 30 C. my question how can I more overclock my cpu?
that would depend all on ur motherboard, PSU and ram also the CPU i cant say since all CPU's will overclock diff. my video was to give an understanding on how it is done.
ur BIO's is what u should go by. this will provide an overall for the full CPU and not just the cores. my cores idle at 41-50 and my bio's says 19C so u should be good
Is your computer making noise or it's the wind ?

i would need pics to be sure
send them in a private message and ill see.
kdawgmaster 2 years ago
is u notice that the CPU is unstable then just go back to the bios and change it accordingly. i dont see y u should have to change it. and everthing else looks perfect to me.

forgot to add in
its 7 multipliers suck :(
HirachieOfSociety 2 years ago
i was able to get mine up there. the P45 chip set is one of the best overcloking chipsets if not the best for the 775 sockets.

I want to oc my q8200 around 3Ghz so does this apply to my setup? I have EP43T-UD3L with 4Gb ddr3 1333mhz.
sizumuziyuzi 2 years ago
as long as its a gigabyte mobo then yes.
kdawgmaster 2 years ago
@kdawgmaster Ah so my p43 can oc like ur p45? Lol my cpu is so cold it idles at 20*C so bring on the heat and performance!
sizumuziyuzi 2 years ago
the BIO's will be close to the same but it wont overclock as well as my P45. also got coretemp

if my ddr3 ~1450~ mhz and stock 1333 its olay?
yosef019 2 years ago
as long as its not crashing it should be fine.
kdawgmaster 2 years ago
craching it if after overclock my computer is on and shotdown?? when i overclock cpu to 3.3 it crashing! do i need change vortages? (my all voltages on auto).
yosef019 2 years ago
now my cpu on 3.03 (433) 3.40b 333mhz latch
yosef019 2 years ago
thats not to bad. did u try 3.2?
kdawgmaster 2 years ago
after 3.0 when I save bios my computer shut down and restart, avter tree times he reset the bios
yosef019 2 years ago
yea today I run on 3.2 run perfect
yosef019 2 years ago
all this without change voltage all on auto!!!
yosef019 2 years ago
hey i have one more question though. i did more research on overclocking the q8200. what people are doing is they are using mb intelligent tweaker but the problem is my bios does not have this. How do i get mb intelligent tweaker???? how do i overclock my core then??? PLEASE REPLY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
hamzathespartan117 2 years ago
thats because they are using a gigabyte mobo. every motherboard company will call their overclocking area something else. if u see no where to overclock ur CPU then u probably have a prebuilt system or a mother board from one that dosnt allow u to overclock.
kdawgmaster 2 years ago
ok. thanks i bought my monster pc. (ts a monster to me!) so i think i'll try overclcoking through windows!
hamzathespartan117 2 years ago
try to download newest version of bios and instal them with diskonkey (qflash) on post screen.
yosef019 2 years ago
hello I buy ddr 3 1333 mhz if you know what the frequency latch and fsb need change in bios???
yosef019 2 years ago
im sry man i havent used DDR3 with my board and im not sure its compatible with it either.
kdawgmaster 2 years ago
fu-k overclock ddr3 is very hard my comuter shutdown and freeze.

first, how do I know which fan I got? I really NEED to open the case? .. may be dumb question but isnt there a software out there that detects stuff like that or thats impossible?
second, Ive got Q8200 and I wanna know how much I could overclock it.
Nvidia GeForce 9800 GT 512MB DDR3
2GB RAM DDR2
how can I see my motherboard?
UpdatedKonradGames 2 years ago
ok so if this is just the fan that came with the computer then u have a stock heatsink. and also if this is a prebuilt then there is no way that i know to overclock it.
kdawgmaster 2 years ago
What would be the best overclocking speed for q8200 using a stock fan for the CPU?
Dyaems 2 years ago
2.5-2.7 max
kdawgmaster 2 years ago
Hmm okay, thanks for the info.
Dyaems 2 years ago
yup no problem.
kdawgmaster 2 years ago
justhes got a 3.3ghz overclock with stock cooling
zzAmatureGamingzz 2 years ago
i dont have a stock cooling,
kdawgmaster 2 years ago
what is real temperature ?
1. core1,core2,core3,core4 or
2.cpu temp?
yosef019 2 years ago
sry for the long response but go by core temps
kdawgmaster 2 years ago
I over clock my cpu to 2.96 ghz (403) and put the voltage on "auto" (in desc he running at 1.31 volt.
yosef019 2 years ago
Auto volting normally isnt the best because u can run the voltages abit lower getting lower temps. my temps with my cooler are normally 20 for the CPU and the cores 40-50C
kdawgmaster 2 years ago
myne too 16-30 cpu and cores 47-57
yosef019 2 years ago
ttwo of my cores isn't change temperture in desctop (44 c) in game 44-48
yosef019 2 years ago
it would depend on ur motherboard manufacture with out knowing that i cant help u.
kdawgmaster 2 years ago
i followed your guide here but when i try this, and i open up cpu z, its only reading 2574.4MHz. but if i left click on my computer and click properties it shows 3.0ghz. any help on what i did wrong or what i need to change. thanks, i appreciate your work.
rolindadice64 2 years ago
its a feature called step clocking. it drops ur multiplier by 1 so that ur CPU dosnt operate at 100% when not doing anything. this save's power and helps the CPU to last longer.
kdawgmaster 2 years ago
oh okay great, thanks a lot i appreciate it.

800 mhz of ram is changed too is it good or I need to buy ddr3 1333 mhz like the cpu (1333mhz)
yosef019 2 years ago
only if the mother board supports DDR3 ram.
kdawgmaster 2 years ago
I see one movie here someone overclock his q8200 to 4.2ghz
yosef019 2 years ago
can you write the the mhz of cpu and the voltage (3.33 ghz-1.35v) I have gigabyte "ep45c-ds3" moterboard 2+1g ram 800 mhz
yosef019 2 years ago
Hey I have this componens q8200 ddr2 800 mhz and I overclock my prosesor to 3.00 ghz , (1.3000v) 2.00b, 333 mhz .and I play gta iv on max settings and my cpu is 30 C. my question how can I more overclock my cpu?
yosef019 2 years ago
that would depend all on ur motherboard, PSU and ram also the CPU i cant say since all CPU's will overclock diff. my video was to give an understanding on how it is done.
kdawgmaster 2 years ago
what about the temp? mine OC to 2.52 temp 48-50 idle, but, in the BIOS shows 28..
joboskop 2 years ago
ur BIO's is what u should go by. this will provide an overall for the full CPU and not just the cores. my cores idle at 41-50 and my bio's says 19C so u should be good

did it stabil at 3.34ghz?
joboskop 2 years ago
it blue screened after like 3 weeks so i turned it down to 3.33 surprising it made it that much more stable.
kdawgmaster 2 years ago
So, I overclock it to 2.4 Ghz,works perfect, do I need to raise voltage? And can I raise it to 2.5 or I need to raise voltage?
