there ain't really a big shortage of apprenticeships. but there is a problem with getting people to complete them. the pay is too low, surely the government should have more bonuses for apprentices if there is a "skill shortage". otherwise yes we are going to have a real skill shortage

Don't forget: you are not entitled to a job. If you believe you are entitled to a job, then you should be living in a communist country. A company is also owned by a person, who probably sacrificed and struggled to get to where they are... they have to make money... if they don't, then they won't have the money to employ anyone! If you don't like big business, try setting up your own company and see how you go paying people high salaries! Just my opinion.
Count the aussie fruit pickers I say. Even if an unemployed person doesn't have a piece of paper they should have fair employment opportunities compared to other nationalities.
Then again, some unemployed aussies enjoy doing sweet fuck all and couldn't be bothered finding work.
@TradieTrev Exactly, everyone should have a fair chance... so if an international person comes to this country with higher qualifications and a better work ethic, then why shouldn't they get the job? People seem to forget that people in their countries slave away in sweat shops so we can have all our luxuries. It's give AND take in globalisation.
@WenHao07 So if you boss advertised for people over seas because of a lack of skill shortage, and can get more people to work for half your wage you would be ok with this.?
@TrueBlueAustralian Yeah I would be fine with it. It's called business... it's called being competitive. If I lost my job because someone else was more attractive to employers, then I would just have to make myself more attractive too... instead of complaining.
@TradieTrev There are some Aussies that choose not to work, and iam ok with that. Butt he ones that can sacked from there job when there boss claims lack of skills is bullsh**.. :)
