  • who's excited for a sausage party?

  • Great video.

Forget those grinding disks, get a cheap diamond blade on your 4" grinder. 1 diamond blade would half 30 barrels. Tears through cast iron, ceramic tile and NO SHRINKAGE!

  • Nice work.

  • Just stumbled over this video, was looking for a Howto on that! THanks a lot! :D

  • that is one bad ass bbq grill good job

  • the ultimate redneck BBQ!

  • Love it mate! great barbie!!!

  • Maybe drill some holes in the side for the air to give that extra special heat?

  • Oh come on...

    This is just wonderful!! :-)

  • 3:07 The children and the animals are slow.....

  • BBQ = smoked meat! Good luck smoking anything on that contraption. Look to me more like a Cuban refugee boat!

  • Easy lesson to get food poisoning , I wouldn't eat in that slags house.

Cockney swagger is no good laid up in a hospital bed!

How do you clean it gobshite, or do you like hospital food?

  • Das metall is doch verzinkt ! Auf sowas kann man doch net grillen ?!?!?!?!

  • I love this video......absolutely no consideration for safety...safety glasses during cutting.....how 'bout some gloves or leather apron when welding......I'm surprised no one was hurt....lol

  • LOL at 2:51

  • where do u put the wood?

  • how bout them safety glasses??????

  • That's pretty cool. But, if you want to get technical, you built a Back Yard Grill, not a BBQ grill. Real BBQ is ALWAYS SMOKED! Smoking is the only way to do REAL BBQ. Otherwise you're just grilling, lol. You did a great job building the grill though!

  • @bcbbcb1 Thanks, technically speaking you are wrong based on national differences, in England we grill from above, remember, we invented America.

  • @denzlepob Like you just said, you GRILL from above, NOT BBQ! HAHAHA. BTW, thanks for inventing America, Land of the free and home of the BBQ SMOKERS!!!! lol and just joking around!

  • @denzlepob LOL @ "invented America." More like oppressed your own people so severely that they sailed half way around the world just to get away.

  • @denzlepob LOL @ "invented America." More like oppressed your own people so severely that they sailed half way around the world just to get away. I imagine you said that in jest, however.

  • @denzlepob hahahahahaha........best comeback I have read in a long time, marvellous

  • @denzlepob said "[...] in England we grill from above, remember, we invented America."

No, you did not. Fuck you.

  • @denzlepob i invented ur mums arsehole, wanker.

  • @denzlepob You built a outside grill

  • @denzlepob but you idiots didnt believe in a round world remember? How can you invent something you thought was impossible?

  • @rawimpact Thanks for your kind comment, luckily we have an ocean between us.......

  • @denzlepob We like it that way too!

  • Comment removed

  • @denzlepob Not completely true, because the French had some influence in there as well. Ever heard of Rousseau?

  • cocksmokers

  • Mark

Great BBQ I love one please let me know if you sell it?

  • mmm, if you run out of fuel for the BBQ you have to take the mesh off, also if that mesh is gal you are poisoning yourself.

  • hey guy where is ur P.P.E ( personal proteccion equiment ),,,ear plugs, gloves, etc,,,,be safe

  • hey guys,,where is ur PPE, (personal proteccion equipment),,,,u going to be complete deaf,,,and then blaind to ur boos at work,,,,,and get some few days off, so u can finish ur proyect right,,,,and be safe, dont put ur life in risk & ur family,,,fro boise, idaho

  • where did you get the oil drum from? great vid, i love your shed!

  • Yay for 55 gallon drums!

  • where's your ear muffs, gloves and eye protection?

  • nice

  • Now I know what to do with the drum I have in the garage. Thanks mate!

  • .youtube.com/watch?v=yDrzB_uurgY check out my bbq, think ull like it

  • i would love to use one as a boiler

  • thats a good lookin weld from a stick!! great job on the pit.

  • do you sell those bar-b-q i would like to buy one

  • Helpful video, cheers. If using an old drum, fill it with water before cutting, then get it sandblasted and all should be fine.

  • never use used drums- ALWAYS USE NEW DRUMS. but great vid.

  • did you know that a used oil drum will be toxic.you can't cook in it.

you shouldn't even have food around it.

when the "pro's" build one of these, they use a "virgin" drum

  • you could have mitred the corners :D

  • awesome video!!!

  • good job there mates. cheers

  • well u got a big workhouse and a lot of equipment. for those who live in suburbs it could be a lot of fun to make handcrafts with scrap. the smoker is huge for just one household btw.

  • Lock Stock And Two Smoking Barrel Grills lol

  • dollar six, double burger.....no fuss

  • HAHAHAAA!! Polyphonicspree and BBQ!!

  • Well spotted !

  • who are these cock suckers .. you wankers don.t know how to build a smoker ..

  • Why you shoutin' Mark? lolz

  • NICE WORK SHOP

  • Brilliant ! Now we are gonna make our own.. we would like to thank you for making this video !, Cheers Brit-expats now in Bulgaria !!

  • nice basic model, i would gotten nice hinges and biuld a cover and a nice paint job, the drum looked a little rusty so it may need a primer, overall good job champs, are you having a laugh? he he

  • well done guys ;)

  • love the shorts using the grinder. Nothing like building bbq

  • nice job, thro a shrimp on the barbie mate

  • They are Brits, not aussies LOL. Anyway nice BBQ, I would like one myself but TBH my garden isnt very big and in the north we are lucky to get 2 weeks of BBQ weather. Still would be great if you have a big partie and enough people to make all that charcoal worth it.

  • nice bbq man!!

  • nice video.. really helpful... :) thanks

  • Great job! but remember your gloves and eye protection.

    Blindinoneye

  • Made on this like this in the States, Works GREAT! America or Aussie, we know how to grill! Good cooking to ya from America!

  • any big drum like that would work it doesnt have to be an oil drum

  • awsome i always wanted to no how to make one of them thanx 4 the gr8 idea m8

  • you guys are cool as shit i want to play! lol

  • For those of us without welding know-how or kit, drill and bolts work too! Great vid BTW.

  • i luv the mesh top material. my bbq has a lid. lids make in too top heavy. i like it w/o the lid. u can always trap smoke with foil or cookie sheets.

i think the barbie need carbaration at the bottom with a hatch. open air top doesn't do the trick. also. the barbie should have mesh at bottom for the coals to get air underneath.

now my dumb question. where can u get a used oil drum?

  • ebay, craigs list. industrial supply, maybe some restaurants. Look for something that had food grade product inside, less hassle in the long run.

  • Great vid and love the idea.

  • i liked the video these guys clearly know what they are doing!!school of rock;)

  • HAHAHAHAHAHA your song

  • well what a load of nanny comments. eye protect gas can kill etc ,these guys done a cracking job and guess what i bet no one died,This video gave me inspiration to build one . I did last week see my vid and well done you guys pretty good job for your age lol

  • shut up dick head

  • you should build them and sell them thats what im going to do

  • Comment removed

  • thats wat i do

  • nice eye and ear protection.. and it would be easyer to use a jigsaw to cut the barrel

  • Easier.

  • Comment removed

  • Any suggestions on cleaning/burning out a sealed top drum?

  • Nice work. But probably best to point out to the punter that cutting these drums can kill ya. Any wiff of hydrocarbon or solvent smell means the drum shouldn't be used. Volatile vapours in there, sparks from angle grinder - boom!

  • @ColFingers Yesterday, in Ottawa, a student was killed by an exploding drum while making a BBQ in shop class. Apparently it had peppermint oil residue in it. Very Sad.

  • NO way to control the heat

No way to add wood or charcoal once you have started grilling (unless) you take all the meat back off (and grad).

No grease drain? take a wild guess what happens when the hot grease starts building up in the bottom DUDE LOL

But since I see you made this video back in 2007 I'm sure you've experienced theses problems first hand and made adjustments hehe

  • Loving the music mate. I'm building a cold smoker using an oil drum. Not going as well as this looks mate

  • nice job....

but I suggest wearing some eye protection while cutting the barrel...

  • Looks brilliant - Nice one!

One question: Where abouts did you get the mesh from? I'm having trouble finding any at a decent price. (You say the entire project cost you less than £35, but this is about the average price I'm seeing for big enough sheets of stainless steel mesh...). I'm also in the UK, by the way.

    Cheers.

  • talking about cooking-quality mesh obviously... ;-)

  • Nice job lads im gonna make one now... !!!

  • That was brilliant! Love the comedy sketches in it if this was on T.V I would deffo watch this. Loved the use of SLAG too Quality fellas!

  • You need to used eyes and ear protection !

  • Looks good, love it!

Gonna make me one this saturday, can't wait to use it (and drink beer ;) )

  • Awesome Home made BBQ.

  • Cheers.

  • trust an aussie not to wear safety goggles when angle grinding lol!

  • Aussie? Check the accents buddy, these guys are Brits!

  • lol..sorry your right these brits are nutters using angle grinders without safety goggles!

  • hell i dont wear safety glasses when angle grinding, only wear them when i have to at work

  • thats a good idea i want one haha

  • that is awsome buddy i would pay for one of those hahah

  • yeah me too, how much to knock me one up!?

  • you got to tell them!!!!!!!! hows you

  • Comment removed

  • dont be so fucking pedantic its all for fun

  • Barbeque: A rack to hold meat for cooking over hot charcoal or fire. Cook outdoors on a barbecue grill

Grill: A grated utensil for cooking meat over charcoal or fire. A cooking surface of parallel metal bars

  • incorrect.

barbecue: a slow cooking process where the meat is not directly heated (i.e. a smoker).

grilling: fast, direct heat cooking process.

the 2 couldn't be more different and the results are completely different, as are the food styles. for example, you cannot barbecue a steak, but you can grill one.

i suggest that you google the difference between them.

  • You should read the wiki, each country has their own idea of what a BBQ is. I'd call the American version a smoker. I'm an Aussie, we get 55 weeks a year of sunshine to BBQ stuff

  • seeing how there are only 52 weeks in a year, that's really something.

  • We get extra on weekends, it's very convenient

  • nice video.

    I might try

  • I build BBQ's from hot water tanks that I get from the trash. Easy to find and free! Enjoyed the video.

  • C'mom guys. If you just "tried" to speak with a Texas accent, I'm sure you could you build a much better grill. That puny little thing couldn't begin to hold a hind quarters much less a full side of beef....(We don't eat sheep here so don't go there) Just kidding. Here we hinge the two halves together on one side giving you the option of open grilling or covering the grill for a pit effect. It also keeps the rain out. A cheap and effective grill can be made from hravy concrete mesh.

  • love the work! im going to build one when back in new zealand, although ill try build one that you can raise the level of grill so to ensure consistant optimal heat.

    cheers.

  • Hi

I'm having trouble sourcing a grill for my drum bbq... any ideas plz???

    Tnx

  • you need expanded mesh 2-3mm thick diamond shape.try steel & tube engineers or sheet metal works.

  • We put things away in our country.

  • Old barrels used for scrap can be covered with a plastic lid, try asking around the scrapyard.

  • lol

  • Great idea - though I would be concerned about toxicity from the 'oil'.

I may, however, use the concept and make one from a metal box perhaps~

  • You've got to watch them cutting wheels. My cousin was using one and it exploded ripping his left nut off. Poor bastard almost bled to death before we could get him to the hospital. It wasn't funny at the time, but now I think about and can't help but laughing

  • u dont want a galvanized drum r u crazy???that shit fa q up when heated

  • TIP: look for older galvanized oil drums, the ones with a curved bottom. Also, be cautious of certain toxins contained in drums.

  • not recommended. NO GALV. TOXIC.

  • nice 1 dad =)

  • Nice Vid Den, very useful lol.

  • good grille, building bbq's is fun, bigger the better!!!

  • Muy bien, very good from Tenerife, Spain

  • haha very funny. u guys are awesome

  • Love that shed!

  • nice thanks for sharing! i will build one like yours

  • The mesh that is used for bbq's is called 3/4 expansion but it warps over time. Your best bet is to ma the grill out of 1/4" cold rolled round stock.

  • You guys are fuckin' awesome... I know where to buy the steel/oil drum... Now I just have to find someone who has the right tools so I can make one of these myself...

  • Where did you get the metal mesh/grate from? Great vid, you inspired me!

  • you guys are rad

  • Fantastic video gents, this is why men have sheds!

As quoted by a good friend of mine, some of "The Philosophy of Shed"

The right of the people to be secure in their sheds, against unreasonable searches and seizures, shall not be violated - Extract from US Bill of Rights

He who is tired of sheds is tired of life - Dr Johnson

    I have a shed, therefore I am - Descartes

As long as you derive inner help and comfort from the shed, keep it - Mahatma Gandhi

  • Awesome job mates! I think I just might try this out myself later in the season.

  • now that was worth watching!! I'm inspired!

  • Glad you liked it Mr Gollumthedog !! We have more projects in the pipeline !!

  • are u batty?

  • Nice one guys. I've just come out of my garage after cutting my drum. I wasn't sure about the stand, so I did a quick google. Nice idea with the little side table. I'm off to buy some angle iron and a grill now :)

  • Good luck, where on earth are you?

  • omfg i have a new purpose in life :), nice shed man damn i have a new hobby thx

  • Hi SpLiC3, where on earth are you from !! ?

  • I'm from stockport near manchester :) i am 25 and really wanting my own shed now (somewhere to escape the missus) i love the vid btw i have tried them and it is so easy to mess up :)

last summer i even wanted it to rain a little so my lawn would be ok haha how daft am i :)

  • Dis mos nou hoe 'n braai moet lyk! Nice job.

  • Cheers Mr BurningZa !!

  • I don't think they have a McDonalds in that part of Dorset - do they? And I'm avoiding Dorset Knob biscuit jokes! I was thinking serious organic composter which would be easy to put together and useable in a small or large space - go on guys!

  • Yep we could compost all the waste from mcdonalds and kfc and pepsi and coke! i think not! Keep it local!

  • This should be a long running series of events, showing how to make all sorts of things that coct a fortune! Next u tell me, u need to know, send suggestions, the man may build them and show u how!

  • We have started something amazing, we like your composter idea and may well follow it up!!

  • Best line:

    'Slag!'

    'There's no need for that!!'

You could go far fellas, Hugh FW doesn't cut it like this! Just no dissecting goats, ok?

    Next project: the perfect composter!

    Love Jeanie xx

  • fantastic! What you need is a good backing track, and a tape measure,or not!! Keep going cant wait till the next.

  • Thanks Hazelend, can you suggest another project?

  • We are working on it, do you have any suggestions?

  • I'd put my prawn on your barbi anytime baby!! Well done guys, love Jeanie xx

  • Your prawn is more than welcome !! Can you suggest another outdoor/shed related project?

  • Very Jack Hargreaves! Except your shed is nicer.

  • We are honoured that you associate us with the wonderful Jack Hargreaves, Out Of Town was one of our favourites, thank you !!
