  • I did this 42 years ago when I was 14 years old.

  • Just video with no explanation is not that helpful, sorry

  • @lsk 464 - I guess being the first guy to show that splitting water to make pure hydrogen and pure oxygen separately hasn't helped much at all. Sorry, just because hundreds of people are doing it now and using my process is not that cool.

Maybe next time you could just ask how I was doing it before anyone else.

So, when you look at split gas cells on the net - know that if it weren't for me showing people how to do it - you wouldn't be seeing them do it..

If you ask nice, I mite even show you..

  • What we want is a way to have a makeshift hydrogen-powered engine of our own

  • Nice one. Im working on a sub marine design, think this might be a good way to make oxygen for breathing and H for fuel. I'll send u a link:

    grabcad.com/library/mini-modular-sub

  • Where would one go to buy ,find ,aquire , monel ?

  • @Bubblytubebob - .megamex.com

  • Very nice experiment . looking to make one to have an input of 2.5 KW. Is it feasible ?

  • @Bubblytubebob , it's very doable. Any size to meet any need.

  • Dude,

I want to make a bigger separator but I want to discard the oxigen and use just the hidrogen. Could you tell me your opinion about the differences tyo build a small generator like this one and a bigger one. Also i would like to know about the presence of steam in the electrolisis.

    thank you for your help

  • DO YOU HAVE A WIRING DIAGRAM ? OR CAN YOU TELL US HOW TO BUILD THE Hydrogen Oxygen separated electrolysis unit THANKS

  • dude please turn that aggravating track off!

  • @mr1997 - yup, should have used some Tool, but what the heck, just used myown. If you don't like it, turn the sound down on your computer.

    Peace

  • u are using graphite as your electrodes?i have problems of oxidation on my anode,so,now i use graphite for the anode and cathode,is hard to obtain materials that do not oxidize. The only metal that i already know of don't make this is Au,because this i want to use graphite.

  • @fss1704 - I used a very low grade of stainless for this model. but monel, 316L, graphite, sliver, gold, platunium or cobalt will work just fine. If you want your cell to be very efficent, use cobalt on the cathode and 316L on the anode.

    Peace.

    Mike.

  • @mikepowers420

Instead of baking soda can we use regular salt (Sodium chloride)?

  • Nice Mike Gary

  • Dude use a 12V 5 amp supply and then see the results...........I guess you can buy 1 for cheap......

  • 09876124, this is inky a demonstrator unit. I'm not tying to get max output. Besides, with that many amps, it will run hot and start to produce steam. Steam is the enemy when trying to produce hydrogen and oxygen in the same unit separately.

    Thank you for your comments.

    Mike.

  • Looks like more gas is coming off on the left side?

  • Moffett, that was because one tube was lower in the jar of water than the other, and since there is twice as much oxygen being produced than hydrogen. It's a pressure differential situation.

I only built this gizmo to show that it could be done.

    Peace.

  • Oh, you mean in the cell it's self.

Thats because hydrogen is produced in smaller bubbles when water is electrolyzed. They have a tendency to propagate further down into the solution than oxygen bubbles.

    Peace.
