Fake? At what point did kids stop learning that hydrogen explodes? I have electrolyzed water and exploded the resulting hydrogen. I understand the exceptionally energetic nature of hydrogen, and how violently it will explode. Of course, I was born in 1968, took chem. I and II in college, and I am a mechanical engineer. you can get same effect with Muriatic acid mixed with tinfoil sealed in 2L Bottle.

The Acid and Vapours that are produced are highly dangerous so try at own risk!!!

We used to take a cutting torch, fill a ballon (the bigger the louder!) with acet/ox mixture and tie it off, tape a sparkler to it the end of knot (for a fuse) and run like heck, sonic boom just around the corner!!! Why do people think this is fake??? The product of a hydrogen explosion is only water. After some complex math that's way over most of your heads, you end up with a blown up bottle and 1/2 teaspoon of water vapor that is dissipated immediately and quite violently. No smoke...

When I was in middle school I was fortunate enough to have a cool science teacher. Well one afternoon he took the whole class into the auditorium and on stage he had a small experiment set up. It was a regular size party balloon filled with hydrogen instead of helium. Well he took a birthday candle taped on the end of a yardstick and lit that thing off in the middle of the stage. The first hydrogen explosion I witnessed firsthand and that blast is still etched into my memory
