There is not one aspect of our physiology to suggest that humans are omnivores and the "grand design" is the process of natural selection which has delivered the patterns of diversity and abundance and inherent behaviours of life on earth - that includes what eats what. Nice theory about humans being an "opportunist" species but it doesn't make an omnivorous diet appropriate or healthy for us.
