  • how is your snare floating in thin air like that? how exactly did you do it

  • @romodrummerjz: It's Magic

  • @uwepetersen Well, if only it was one of pearls Free-Floating Snares, then you would have romodrummerjz completing fooled!

  • great idea jamming out in the sticks... wish I'd thought of that as a lad!

  • are you sitting on your spare bass drum?

  • i bet all the animals were dancing

  • Great groove, good job!

  • rosana shuffle?

  • very funky dude!

  • First and foremost, awesome playing. Second, do all of the drums fit inside the throne? Is that the idea?

  • @kihaminto Toms and snare fit inside the kick and the hardware goes in the stool. The two cylinders stack nicely on one trolley, with only a cymbal bag extra.

  • your heel down doubles are solid

  • well done dude, u got some groove in you boy!

  • That is one hectic beat. So listenable. You have a really unique rhythmic feel and unique ideas. Fantastic!

  • Ghost notes = amazing purrrrrrr. I love it.

  • beautifully played bro. nice consistant ghost notes

  • Sounds like a groovier version of Rosanna - Toto! :) - Nice

  • What kind of kit is???? Please

  • @Ostrica391: Yamaha HipGig

  • Kool Kit !!!

  • what kind of cam. you use? I dont see any mics.

  • hey man.... Nice sound!!!

  • are you always playing on the mountain? :)

  • Different tempo's are in order to really demo this groove....Wank fest....

  • Matching chair...

  • how do you get this shuffle up to speed? i have tried practice it at 3 different speeds for 3 minutes each and still no luck any tips?

  • @rosspeterson1993 In my experience with shuffle beats, you have to master what each limb is doing individually before you can put it all together to form one beat. If you want to speed it up, you have to practice it all individually and then put them all together.

  • NIce feel. I love the idea of you being on a mountain playing to nature & the world on Earth's height peak. Good Move...

  • cool drumseat :-))

  • amazing hahaa ^w^ you become my idol

  • why the fuck are you on a mountain?

  • anybody else havin trouble learning this groove? i saw ur other vid telling us how to do it, but it is extremely hard to catch on!! great groove guy!

  • with this view i would too play half time shuffle

  • @ThisBenJams no way dude! line up a bunch of drummers on the hills and have them all just rag on their kits and see if the echos and stuff start another earthquake....

  • I think its pretty epic that you're playing on a mountain.

  • if i were to just to hit the high hat with single strokes instead of doubles would it still be a half time shuffle? i would really like to know. i dont quite have the doubles down yet

  • No, because the shuffles is based off of the triplet pattern.

  • @smeaglerG If you shuffle with the bassdrum - Yes!

  • Nice set !

  • THAT IS AN AWESOME KIT!! can I have it?? lol joke XD

  • What kind of riser/adapter are you using for the little kick drum?

  • nice little set :)

  • I love the way you accent the 8th notes on the hi hat, got the half time triplet groove with a sort of solid 8th note backbeat going on, took me a long time to notice cos it's subtle but works really well, very nice.

  • Rossanaaaaa, rossaaanaaaa,...

  • you have any tips for me 2 learn this cause i really wana learn this groove? any1 have any tips or anything?

  • @drummeboy94life: check out my video "Halftime shuffle explained"

  • @drummeboy94life I respect that uwepetersen directed you to his video...still, I will suggest to start with the half-time shuffle without ghost notes:

R RR R(RL) RR RR RR R(RL) RR RR RR R(RL)

    (RL) = Right hand/Left hand together; L = snare downbeat/accent

    Then add ghost notes:

    RgRRgR(RL)gRRgRRgRRgR(RL)gRRgRRgRRgR(RL)g

g = ghost note (left hand)

I find it easier conceptualizing the ghost note after the snare downbeat as the 2nd lighter stroke of a double stroke

  • @drummeboy94life I appreciate uwepetersen's explanation...I would add:

Start with the half-time shuffle without ghost notes:

R RR R(RL) RR RR RR R(RL) RR RR RR R(RL)

(RL) = Right hand/Left hand together; L = snare downbeat

    Then add ghost notes:

    RgRRgR(RL)gRRgRRgRRgR(RL)gRRgRRgRRgR(RL)g

g = ghost note (left hand)

I like to add a ghost note after the snare downbeat, and I find it easier conceptualizing this extra ghost note as the 2nd lighter stroke of a double stroke

  • @drummeboy94life break it down and do one part at a time, helped me alot.. first get the shuffle hats right, then the bass drum (thats often the tricky part) then the snare and last but not least the ghost notes on the snare.. good luck!

  • @drummeboy94life /watch?v=MwFdExvCxM4&feature=related i hope this helps!

  • @drummeboy94life I will suggest to start with the half-time shuffle without ghost notes:

    (RL) = Right hand/Left hand together; L = snare downbeat/accent

    Then add ghost notes:

    RgRRgR(RL)gRRgRRgRRgR(RL)gRRgRRgRRgR(RL)g

  • lovely hats

  • Check out the drummer listed on Soul Drummers . com

  • dude your sitting on top of that mountain and shes rockin that mountain valley down below, crash kings reference

  • What kit is that please?

  • I really like how deep the bass drum is. nice video man.

  • how do you do that sixtuplet ghost note thing ? Can you post the pattern ? TIA

  • @georgewhedge If you mean the half-time shuffle (with ghost notes)

Start with the half-time shuffle without ghost notes:

R RR R(RL) RR RR RR R(RL) RR RR RR R(RL)

(RL) = Right hand/Left hand together; L = snare downbeat

    Then add ghost notes:

    RgRRgR(RL)gRRgRRgRRgR(RL)gRRgRRgRRgR(RL)g

g = ghost note (left hand)

I like to add a ghost note after the snare downbeat, and I find it easier conceptualizing this extra ghost note as the 2nd lighter stroke of a double stroke

  • what if it rained ?

  • It never rains in southern California.

  • @uwepetersen But girl, don't they warn ya', when it pours, man, it pours.

  • @metalgrande95 What about wildfire, and now radiation?

  • Tight! :)

  • @SJDrummer02 thanks. Your kit sounds really nice

  • Does anyone know how to do the fill at 1:27? does it start off with the kick drum?

  • Your ghost notes are sweet.

  • OH YES..SWEEETT

  • This made me laugh lol, amazing skills though!

  • I love It dude...are you enjoying the view?

  • Hmm.. i dont know what tell to you.. becouse your right foot technic looks very strange, and rare, .. something like wrong played.. but anyway sound fine.. but by some momentes its rare - bad.. I just wanna see and listen the Yamaha Hip Gig, its great drums set, made by Yamaha.

  • great video! what snare are you using?

  • damn that's some tasty drumming

  • i want your yamaha hipgig drum kit!!!.....nice grooving man!, so funky....it's all about the groooooooooooveeeeeee..............

  • im loving it the groove is similar to toto's rosanna

  • what drum bass pedal are you using?

  • In this Video I use the Yamaha pedal that came with the Hipgig kit, but usually I play a DW 5000 Accelerator.

  • Sounds like something Chad Smith would play, great stuff!

  • WTF!!!!

  • I may post a response to this with a shuffle. Not nearly as clean though, this is one of my fav grooves for sure.

  • You should put a mic or camera down in the canyon to pick up the reverb!

  • Awesome shops man.

  • How are you doing that?! it looks like right-handed paradiddles.

  • @ModernLiterature with the right hand he's just playing a shuffle and then ghost notes with the left hand

  • @ModernLiterature It's called a half-time shuffle (with ghost notes)...

  • I like how you are just in the middle of nowhere just jamming out. Lol were you alone?

  • oh yea all alone

  • love it

  • and the hi hat where is? aren't you able to open it????? stupid

  • @maurus1965 are you blind and/or deaf? it's the cymbal in front of everything else and he definitely opens it.

  • Where r your! videos...!?

  • That just really gave me the chills. Cheers from germany.

  • Reeeeeeaaaaally goood...

What is your cymbals set up in this video?

  • @sebastiaopv95

    the cymbals are all Zildjian.

    14" New Beat Hi-hat, 16" K-dark crash and

    20" K-Custom dark ride.

  • nevermind. i see you're in LA

  • whatch watch?v=MwFdExvCxM4

  • brilliant..id love a portable kit like that.iv made a cocktail set from an old floor tom. .its portable, but not as good as your hipgig.great vids..keep it up.

  • noice

  • Another nice groove there..these are really terrific clips. Hey, maybe the acoustics would be better in the Grand Canyon ( lol ) :-) Keep em coming!

  • Can you tell please, if this 16" bass drum can be tuned really low acousticly (live without mics)???

i know that snare and toms are AWSOME, but i'm vorried about bass drum(((

    exc for english:)

  • With a small bass drum like this you always have to make compromises. If you tune it too low, you want get any tone out of it, only punch.

It is also important what kind of heads you use. I recommend ether a Remo Emperror or Powerstroke4 and I only dampen the resonant head with a felt strip.

  • Seriously, the sun? Its not like it was 110° w/ blasting rays of the Ultra violet nature. And the wood comment??? The humidity can change as much in your house....nice idea man, keep on groovin'

  • ...are are you sitting on a drum its the same color as your set lol, great vid btw

  • with the yamaha hip gig you put the the drum set in the stool

  • oh thats tight

  • In the set (drumset) the "chair" is inclusive.

There you can put hardware ,...! :)

  • amazing groove you have! keep uploading videos

  • imagine if you accidently missed the cymbal and your drumstick went flying off the moutain!

  • ...and imagine after a couple of years there would grow a drumstick tree.

But thank goodness I have not lost a stick yet.

Thanks for checking out my videos.

  • i love your kit and i love your playing. the floor tom bass is cool and the snare. what kinda snare is that?? seriously, you rarely find drum videos as tasteful as this on youtube! 5/5

  • What snare is that?

Its almost as amazing as you.

Keep posting videos, yours is some of the best youtube drumvideos.

  • It's a Yamaha 13" piccolo Stage Custom Snare.

    Thanks for the compliment.

  • how do you bring the whole set over the mountains? you have no fear of ruining the drums with the sun? and then not take it too hard the whole set? I await answers

  • With the car, and why should the sun harm the drums?

  • if wood is exposed to cold or hot weather they expand or contract, fucking them up. Especially if they are taken from hot in to cold or vice versa to quickly

  • But you are talking extreme temperatures.

A little sun doesn't harm the drums, it will more likely effect the lacquer do to the ultraviolet light...

Plus don't worry about my equipment, check out the lesson and enjoy the drumming.

  • So slick man.

  • awesome dude :D love that kit lol

  • nice

  • sweet mountain sound!
