Muslims believe Jesus was one of the greatest messengers of God preaching the word of God He was born a miraculous birth by the grace of God and Jesus is the messiah
However Jesus is NOT God nor the real son of God
Christianity is a Cult Guys Study History
Paul corrupted the religion
paul was known as saul of tarsus who kill thousands and thousands of the follower of Jesus
Your understanding of the relationship between the bible and archaeology is naive. For instance, there is no evidence of the Exodus -- in fact the evidence contradicts it -- and there was no city of Jericho at the time the bible has it being destroyed.
@4thcoming you got to be kidding me! this video is all about lies..................wtf, now something eles to clarify and debunk................jezuzfreek777 is your source for history now..............holyshittttt I'm surrounded by some gullible jackholes
How can anyone not see that this video is full of lies? The O.T. itself stole stories from The Epic of Gilgemesh, and the Ten Commandments were stolen from the Egyptian Book of the dead, and the story of Jesus WAS stolen from Mithra and Horas....I guess you believe in Noahs Ark too right? I certainly hope not!
Jesus of Nazareth is also a mythical character who was not recorded by historians. (Though there were a bunch of Christians who inserted a forgery into The Antiquities of the Jews.)
Many cities said to have been destroyed by the Jews in the Old Testament have been found to exist, but were found to have been destroyed by causes other than war (like disease or natural disasters). Also, there are good reasons to believe that Jewish war stories were based on those of the Assyrians.
If only people could just take the time to check out the original scriptures and see how detailed and how straightforward the Holy Bible really is. Maybe then even the Christians would actually act like true children of God.
The concept of "Christian texts" dating back to 2000 BC is delusional. Mithras temples in Persia DO date back that far (and was even worshiped in Rome as early as 67 BC - see Plutarch's Lives, Pompey) so you had to pretend the OT texts are also Christian. The Gospel writers claimed to see prophesies of Christ in the OT, but Jewish scholars don't. The claim Mithras worshipers plagiarized the OT has no foundation, and is simply an assertion. Even early Xn Fathers knew Mithras came BEFORE Christ.
Hinging your video's truth or falsity on the claim that Mithras was not a real human being is foolish, because it's a straw man. No one has ever claimed Mithras was a human being. No one. The ancients never asserted that he was anything other than a Divine being. The claim of being a man AND a god is one asserted by Christians about Jesus.
The video does uncover the uncomfortable truth that early Christians likely borrowed concepts from Mithraism & applied them to Christ. Oops.
There are no parallels between Mithraism and Christianity. You made a mistake by granting them. Mithra was not born of a virgin, he was born of a rock, he was not the son of God, he did not die or resurrect, he did not atone for sins. I recommend you take this video down.
kabane if you had your way you would recommend i take all my vids down. sorry but not going to happen.
I never said he was born of a virgin or anything you say I said. I clearly said " According to Mithasim" I am using the sentiments that many people attribute to mithras.
I am conversationally allowing the false claims and attributes Of mithraism to be allowed in order to to show that they are invalid.
Many sources claim that mithras did live up to wildly inaccurate claims.
Dude, you don't need to take everything like I'm being hostile. I'm not. Alright, if you want to take that route I guess you can but I think you should clarify in the description box.
@jezuzfreek777 Kabane has it right. Mithraism didn't claim that Mithras was born from a virgin; Mithraism claimed that Mithras was born from a rock (do a google search for "Mithras petragenetrix" for pictures). He also didn't die (again according to Mithraism), had no disciples, etc. Oddly enough, you've been misled by critics of Christianity. Most of the supposed similarities between Mithraism and Christianity simpy didn't exist in Mithraism.
Actually JEWISH text goes back to around 1400-1500 BC, not 2000 BC. There wasn't even a Jewish culture or identity back in 2000 BC. According to tradition Moses wrote the first five books (the Torah) around 1400-1500 BC.
There's alot of stories that reflect the Christ story before Christ's story was heard of.
. There's also some adopted "rituals'...ie: the partaking of the blood and flesh in the religion of Dionysus, who in story, was also the son of Zues, born of a virgin, who went to his hometown and tried to make the people believe he was Zues' son.
As if Mithraism was the only religion, predating Christianity, that claims: virgin birth, dec 25, wise men, death, resurrection.etc.etc....These are similar features of Many other religions. Including Hinduism, {Krishna}..Zoroster, Attis, Dionysus, and others......Sorry Christians, the Jesus myth is old and plentiful.
I don't know what's more impressive, the breadth of your misinformation, or the depth of it. By all standards, The New Testament is the most reliable document of antiquity (before 1455 when the printing press was invented). The fact that other religions introduced false deities based on Jewish prophesies of Messiah made 400-4000 years before his arrival is not the fault of Christians.
"Mithraism borrowed from the much older books of the New Testament."...Hahahah...lololol...You freaking liar, or you're stupid. The earliest N.T. books were written a.d.70 or so.
You forgot the word LIBERAL in front of "historians" and "archaeologists." I have seen phenomenal evidence of much of the Old Testament in archaeology.
Sorry, cincy, we cant blame the liberals for everything....After years of research in Egypt, they can come up with NO evidence of the Jews ever being in Egypt.
I will concede for the moment that my archaeological expertise concerning The Bible is more in Genesis and the New Testament, I need to do more research, but let's assume for the sake of argument you are correct and no evidence has been found. Currently, there is almost 0 population in Egypt once you are more than 12 miles away from the Nile. Egypt is about the size of Alaska, and remnants of a civilization could be anywhere out in the desert, like when the Sphinx & Pyramids were uncovered.
Archaeology be damned.....The Bible is the error filled, insane records of contradictory ramblings about a super-violent, super-jealous sky-daddy who will eventually torture most of his children forever. Sick shit.
Please explain these "errors." Does it occur to you that evolution is the most racist idea ever contrived, and was the driving force behind Hitler's "Final Solution?" You could at least be consistent in your criticism.
Google "bible errors." There are hundred of them. Evolution is not an idea. It is a word that describes the set of fact we observe about the complexity of life on earth. We have the fossils. Evolution had nothing to do with any miotivation of Hitl'er's insane rascism.
Really? Everything I have ever seen of the fossil records indicates that fossils remained exactly the same from the time they appeared to the time they went extinct, or in the case of existing creatures, still are today. As for evolution being something we observe, explain to me one time that any creature has ever been observed to have gained genetic material.
Yes I did. In fact, If you look up who the first critics of "...Origin..." in 1859, they were not theologians, they were paleontologists. They stated publicly that the fossil record didn't match Darwin's Claims.
Bacteria, you want to die on this hill? Bacterial drug resistance is actually a case of devolving. Take H. Pylori, which causes stomach ulcers. There is an antibiotic that can kill it. What happens is that the antibiotic chemically reacts with an enzyme in the bacterium to form a poison. The drug resistant strain is missing that enzyme. It survives because it is missing genetic material, not because it gained genetic material
Hm, but isn't that a bit relative? What may be de evolution to us may be a form of evolution to the bacteria, since evolution is technically a change, but nobody said it was for the better or worse, just to adapt to its environment, which with that example it clearly is.
Not at all. Evolution claims that simple organisms became more and more complicated. The mutation that you described is a case of a more complicated organism becoming simpler. Basically, it's the same principle as an albino, but in this case, by dumb luck, it works out for the better in this facet. Now, that does not mean that the bacterium can still function as well. Keep in mind, enzymes help creatures process food, water, air etc. It just benefits in from it in that way.
Hm, Im pretty sure that evolution was described as the process of adapting to the environment and not getting more complex. For example, there's the coelacanth, an ancient fish that hasn't not evolved for millions of years. The only reasoning for this is to assume that its environment hasn't changed for millions of years as well, or that its simply sturdy enough to survive without anymore mutations.
Before I bombard you with jargon and definitions, let's take this from a logical standpoint. If life were to have started as single-celled organisms, then how would they have become multi-cellular by losing genetic data? The biology of mutation is one of devolution, not evolution.
Moreover, the coelacanth is the same now as in the fossil records, because so are all other living animals. Animals do not vary from when they first appear until today or when they last appeared.
Incorrect. The coelocanthe of today is quite morphologically different.Probably by the same amount as modern sharks are to their ancestors.
It's evolved somewhat.
@Jezuzfreek. Fuck you and your video, don't tell me how to live my life, mind your own fucking business.Just deal with your own miserable existence(for it IS miserable)
Go on,tell me once again how rib woman fucked it up because a magic fucking snake SPOKE made her eat an apple.
I love how this video asserts everything as though it is indisputable. Historians and archaeologists have discovered that most of the old testament is bullshit, not true. I guess its ok to lie, as long as it's for jesus.
Then the ultimate in stupidity "christianity traces all the way back to creation"
Wrong. Creationism is known by all educated people to be laughably false. Nevermind that christianity wasn't even really established until long after jesus' death. Epic fail.
Always great to see another bandwagon evolutionist who believes everything he hears on MSNBC. I love the way you start by demanding my sources, but offer none of your own. "Historians" have made a number of false claims. Check out Michael Barnes disproven book "Arming America." Name something that these "Historians" have proven false in the Old Testament. Moreover, while the Old Testament foretells of Jesus, he didn't appear until the New Testament.
"Historians and archaeologists have discovered that most of the old testament is bullshit"-it depends whom you ask, to be honest-even liberal textbooks are changing their tune about the Exodus. Re. Christianity being established 'until long after jesus' death'-thats a very problematic statement.
Which textbooks? Last i heard Israeli archaeologists had found (much to their dismay) nothing indicating that the exodus was true.
There wasn't even a legitimate bible until long after jesus was dead, many factions believed many different things about jesus. It's not as old or as well-established as they like people to think.
christian texts go back to 2000 bC???? some jewish texts might (though the vast majority in the 6th century bc...)... btw you may want to read some scholarship that sheds some light on the "predictions" of the OT and how they come about in the NT to see what real scholars have to say about them...
Real scholars? Real scholars like Crossan argue that the Nt writers were using 'pesher', a common method of the day, and talking in terms of types, etc. If anything I would argue that yourstatement is just as ignorant about what 'real scholars' actually assert about it.
You are a bullshitter because i have read like 4 of Crossans book in the last couple months and he never talks about pesher. You are thinking of Barbara Theiring, you fucking idiot, and no one else backs her up
Sorry, you fail as a mind reader-and Pesher is commonly known-how this excaped a real scholar like you, I have no idea. Re. Crossan, I don't think you read very carefully, because he actually does refer to what I said-maybe its just because I'm a Jew I pay more attention to Jewish concepts about Jewish books. "you fucking idiot"-alas, insulting doesn't make your arguments more valid.
First off I dont know what I said that made you call me ignorant in the first place because crossan would have agreed with what I said. Pesher is a concept known to them but they dont use it as a concept to explain the writing of the NT or near anything related to it. Oh jeez you call me ignorant off the bat but when i call you a fucking idiot you accuse me of ad hominem... You dont seem to have much comprehension about anything I'm talking about anyway so whatever...
Actually I said "I would argue your statement is just as ignorant"-there is a differnce between that can calling someone "a fucking idiot"-but what where you saying about comprehension? Btw, I mentioned more then Pesher-and if you do read Crossan, then you can't deny how he explains "according to the scriptures". My advice, switch to decaf.
I forgot to say that this pesher shit has nothing to do with the NT or even normal judaism because it is something from the dead sea scrolls and not mainstream judaism... so think before you start up with your comments and citing authorities on the matter when you dont know what you are talking about...
The Old Testament is clrearly not the grestest historical books for a few reasons. One it is extremely biased, as one would expect from a religious text. While that is fine for a religious text is does disrupt the validility of it as a Historical text.
2. I dont know where your getting your studies, but achealogical evidence and digs are not supporting the old testament claims, if you wish to argue this please cite your sources that they are, as what i have read has shown that it is not.
1. Saying Jesus was better cause he is supposidly real, and that Mithras isnt real is not correct. To people who believe in Mithras he is very real, and its very rude and innapropiate to go around and tell people thier gos isnt real, I dont do it to you , I kindly ask you dont do it to others.
2. There are no Christian texts that are 2000bs+. Those are Judiac texts, just waed to clrify.
3. Throwing around opinionated comments like the grestest testament is the greatest book
This video reminds me of a something Richard Dawkins says, "Everyone is an Atheist about everyother religion that has ever existed, it is just that some of us go one God futher."
You need to find out something about Mithraism, since everything you is wrong.
In fact, everything you say about ancient religion, including Christianity and Judaism is wrong. Please tell what studies you have undertaken to gain what you consider to be knowledge about the ancient world? If its none (or you read the bible in translation), what qualification does that give you?
Julian's comments are still apt: the Christians are so stupid they actually believe their myths are true.
Actually, there aren't even any similarities that would justify thinking Jesus was a "copycat." Mithra wasn't born from a virgin, he emerged from rock making it a cave - he emerged a full adult. He didn't have 12 disciples, he had 1 or 2 followers (it depends if you look at the Iranian version or the Roman). Mithra did not rise after three days - he didn't even die for that matter (according to the stories written about him).
I'll send you (and anyone else who wants it) a link
But second: I wonder if Jesus' relation to *Horus* would be the biggest issue in assessing the Jesus myth? Because Judaism could have had some influence on the Greeks and Romans (maybe the Persians? Not sure), but since the Torah comes after the exodus from Egypt, one could argue that myths of Horus have influenced the Israelite beliefs.
Just feeling inquisitive tonight. Again, nice work.
I am a Christian, but I also can see through the "set-up" where people MUST believe that everything in the Bible is true even though they have no WAY of knowing this. . If you have faith - have faith in God. To argue for the purity of the Bible becomes an exercise in futility. The BIBLE is NOT GOD. This is what some people have been taught--it is a most destructive belief. There are many poor souls who believe that the fate of their soul rests on the Bible being inerrant
but the bible is God's Word. God is our heavenly father. Aren't we supposed to believe what he tells us? What if you asked your earthly parents about your history and they tell you this just fascinating story, but very fairy tale like...would you believe them any less just because the ODDS are against it? The bible is truth. Everything inside is true.
Based upon my research and my knowledge - I can say very honestly that I don't KNOW if everything in the Bible is true.
I can believe it is true but I don't know. What is it that you KNOW (Not just believe) that makes you certain that everything inside is true. We can probably agree that neither of us actually witnessed the events of the nor the people who compiled the book. So what do you know that proves the Bible is absolutely true.
What you are saying makes no sense. The Bible being the greatest historical book? The Egyptians have much more archeological evidence for their civilization. In fact, much of what we find in the Bible seems copied from Egyptian thoughts and beliefs. Horus - the Son of God would predate Mithra and is a clear predecessor to Jesus by over 2000years!. The 10 commandments - were predated by the 10 negative confessions of Egypt. Hebrews were in many ways Egyptian wannabe's.
LOL @ 4:01 "..as our exclusive savior " Made me think of an ad on tv...." Jesus Christ....The EXCLUSIVE savior of NASCAR !! " This video is typical christian circular logic. " christianity traces it's roots all the way back to creation " Are you fucking kidding me? YOU can't PROVE your creation story........so you can't use something unproven as proof of something else!!!! FUCK!!!!!
It seems to me that God really doesn't want to be "proven"
Jesus spoke in parables so that only the people who wanted to understand Him would.
Instead of trying to convince people by forcing your beliefs on them, why not teach the humility, peace, patience, self-control, love, forgiveness, compassion, power, and glory of the Christ? And also demonstrate it!
Trying to argue the validity of the Bible with statements that everyone can see are not backed by any facts is useless. IMO
Good point - And this is one of the reasons for so much fear and hatred on the planet. If we believe in the traditional Judeo Christian God then we all have a bad case of child abandonment syndrome. Daddy left us to fend for ourselves!
Even modern Israeli archaeologists will admit they have never found physical evidence for the existence of moses and the exodus. Your right that it isnt a debate because the people with evidence just ignore your crazy claims. I tend to believe the experts in these fields as opposed to the hunches and so called proofs of zealous followers. And r44cker, it doesnt matter the rest of the bible is on the same shakey ground. Then please tell me what does keep a christian believing ?
Yo rev, Any archaeologist will tell you there is no known evidence for the existence of moses outside the bible, midrash, or quran. No known written record of israel is known before 850BC besides an obscure mention in a text from the pharoh merneptah in1250 BC. All this proves is that isreal was in the land of cannan at least by the middle of the 13th century.
The music sucks. Usually I'm not so critical on art, but this band is awful. There is no lyrical insight, bland, plain, too safe, and lacking any true emotion.
Many bold words about biblical historical accuracy, but not one single source. Just because one religious nutter writes he wishes to paper, it doesn't make it any more true if million similar nutters iterate his words. Value of information is dictated by the writers credibility. Writers credibility is dictated by his methods and achievements.
jezuzfreek777 Please supply tools to validate your claims.
are you kidding me...there isn't any proof outside of the bible that moses existed or that the jews wandered in the desert...early christians had a completely different concept of who jesus was...you cannot just act like the old testament is proved by rock solid evidence...yeah the talking snake isnt even a debate anymore
triploblastic -"there isn't any proof outside of the bible that moses existed or that the jews wandered in the desert"
There actually is proof. Archaeologists have found so much evidence it isnt even debatable anymore. I have an incomplete list of historical, scientific & archaeological evidences on my profile. Most knowledgeable atheists dont even debate that anymore. Faith in Jesus Christ is just that, faith. You either believe it or you dont. Thats where the debate lies. It's a no brainer.
BS! Christianity dates from the 1st Century CE. It is NOT 4000 years old. Yes, it grew out of the Jewish religion which is about 4000 years old but 4000 years ago Christianity did not exist in any form.
Christianity is based on Jesus who has fullfilled many Old Testament prophecy's, thats why it all fits together and thats also why the christian bible contains the old testament 2.
DancingRabbit52 - "but 4000 years ago Christianity did not exist in any form"
The book of Genesis mentions the Savior, Meshiak. God told Adam and Even of the coming Messiah. So the knowledge of the Christ shedding His blood for the remission of sins was known right from the beginning. So, yes, it did in fact exist.
I beg to differ. If one defines Christianity as the worship of Jesus as Lord and Savior, crucified, dead and risen, that didn't start until somewhere in the first century AD. Regardless of messianic Old Testement prophecies, no one in the Old Testement times was believing or doing anything vaguely resembling Christianity.
Mithra predated Jesus of Nazarath. Whether or not there was any cross religious borrowing is up for debate. It is historical fact that Mithra came first.
Christianity's claim of historicity or perhaps it's superior organization or perhaps that a Roman Imperor converted to it accounts for the fact that it's a major religion today and Mithranism is barely a memory. IMHO, the early Christians did borrow their mythology from Mithras and grafted it onto the storys of the man Jesus.
Also, I would LOVE to see this "historical proofs" of Jesus being a real man that weren't written decades after his supposed death. The first historians that wrote of Jesus didn't document him until after the gospels would have been written. Meaning that they would have heard about him FROM CHRISTIANS.
the gospel of Mark after 70 AD. I think almost 40 years is plenty of time to make sure their messiah fit all of the prophecies. Think about it, even if he was the Messiah (which he wasn't because there is no God :) ) they would want to make sure he fit EVERY prophecy to make sure all of the Jews had proper reasons to believe in him.
The fulfillment of the prophecies foretold in the Old Testament doesn't mean shit... Most scholars agree (and they taught me this in theology class) that Mark, the first gospel which Matthew and Luke are said to be partially based off, was written at the earliest: 70 AD because of the destruction of the 2nd temple. Paul's letter never mention ANYTHING about Jesus's life events except for his death and resurrection, and the letters were the only bridge between Jesus' death in the 30s AD and...
This video gives Mithras' much, much more similarity than it might have had. For one, saying Mithras had a "virgin birth" is a bit far-fetched; he was "created fully grown from a rock". That's not exactly what springs to mind with virgin birth, is it? These theories have been around for 2000 years and Christianity hasn't been "threatened" by them, simply because they are not similar. It's straw-clutching to the highest degree.
Judaism is based on the Word of God. The Jewish people were God's chosen people to be an example to the world until the coming of the Messiah; he spoke to them directly.
Does it date back to the beginning of the world though? Of course not; I'm an evolutionist, I believe the world is billions of years old (which is like a second to God, who is outside matter and therefore time).
When we became 'Human' through God-guided evolution, he bestowed upon us a soul, God gives us all the knowledge of morality ("I will engrain the law in their souls and their hearts") and the want to love and worship Him (look at all the world religions, they all "feel" that knowledge of God and so explain it via their religions). God would have been happy having us worship him as we see fit via our little religions, but it came to be that we rejected God and were seperate from Him...
so God became man, he lower Himself to his very creation, and died for us, and through this, we are saved. He became what we are, that we might become what He is. Chris Jesus died for us, and taught us how to live a Godly life.
That's why I don't believe Christianity is a religion. As Jesus said "there are other sheep of mine, not of this flock". But only by living as Christ demonstrated and taught will we accept God and become one with God.. He showed us how to do it.
God is real people, no I don't faith. I know He is, deal with it. I'm tired of people going to other Theists or experts for answers or proof. Look for the evidence yourselves. Don't copy the answers from other people's homework, do the homework yourselves. I'll give you a hint, you are the living, breathing scientific evidence that proves He exists. All you have to do, is find out why.
Mithra surprises modern Christians, but it was very familiar to the Church Fathers [See e.g. Justin, Origen, Tertullian], who filled their Apologies with dubious rationales as to how Mithraism had anticipated the whole nine yards of Christianity centuries before the supposed arrival of Jesus diabolic mimicry by a prescient Satan being the standard explanation. Pagan critics were not slow to point to the truth: Christianity had simply copied the popular motifs of a competitive faith.
Horrible, horrible video full of false information.
You didn't even do any research on Mithra. I know for a fact because if you had, you wouldnt of put so many similarities together, then tried to deunk all the similarities. There are similarities, but it isnt 99% similar.
Also, jesus, a real figure? How? Circular reasoning [bible] any historian who didnt write 20 years about him??????????? No, you have nothing. I'd give you 0 stars, but what ever.
That has got to be the worst video i have ever seen.
Your really struggling with this topic.
The ides that it was all a devilish plot to try and undermine Jesus is ridiculous.
Yes the bible has real places in it. AND?
Yes the bible has real people in it. AND?
Those people and places existed. They may not today AND?
You then claim Mithras did not exist...But then you showed a church dedicated to him. By your own hand you claim that Christ was real cos the bible talks of REAL places. Ditto
Nothing in this vid indicates that your God is the one true God. It does indicate some reasons for you all to doubt Jesus, though. I hope you do more digging on this subject.
yes mithraism seems very similar to modern day christianity,
the early christians believed jesus to be a prophet and not God or son of God. the early christians believed in only one God.
So it does seem to me that modrn day christianity has been influenced by mithraism and therefore modern-day christianity is not true teachings of jesus
Christianity copied from (sorry, PLAGIARIZED!!!) the Jewish scriptures, the Old Testament. If Mithraism did the same (links? citations?) then what makes them worse than the Christian folks who hijacked the prophesies of the OT when they wrote the NT?
Your video doesn't prove that Christianity is true. Your video shows that Judaism is old. That's all. Seriously, re-watch your video.
I'd also like to know which historians have confirmed that Jesus was real.
well... the only historical evidences of George Washington are historical documents .
People (disciples of Jesus) recorded their testaments onto books that they had to write years after Jesus died , only because they had to learn how to read and write , then practiced to become a rabbi. and there is a week long tradition , before you can write the word "God" onto any holy document.
All this would have taken decades to accomplish. in 100 A.d. , people put the books together into the bible.
Yeesh... I wasn't implying that the council WROTE the Bible. I was aying that they "put the books together into the Bible." That's you that I am quoting. You said, "in 100 A.D. people put the books together into the Bible." No, the separate accounts of the Christ story and the OT were compiled into the modern day Bible in 325. I was simply clarifying for others, as it appears you already understand.
Actually. Christianity didn't come up with it's own gibberish.
All traits of Jesus were prophesied thousands of years before him , and even before the Mithras myth.
Jesus came to earth and told us a few prophecies that would come true before the end times.. the latest prophecy was about Israel , gaining it's independence.
He said that the truth would be spread around the globe. and the majority of earth would believe in him.
You see, the bible is not a history book. Very little written within it can be corroborated by history as recorded by historians. Jesus and his persona is just a small slice of the big pie that cannot be corroborated, so jesus is a myth, just like mithra.
When you want to talk about locations and cities within the bible being verified by historians and archaeologists, that is fine, but do not attempt to imply that these few facts make the entire bible completely true.
If you want to talk about where christianity came from, look no further than the Egyptian story of Horus the sun god. You can also find the model persona of christ in the new testament within the old testament and the story of Joseph.
The difference between historians and christians is huge. Historians, scientists, and archaeologists actually have an objective pov on the subjects they study, instead of an extreme bias like christians do.
jesus was a conceptual entity too douche. there is no records of him outside of the bible. it's sad how you just compartmentalize your brain. sad really.
please review your archeology claims. you have been listening to people who want to fit the story to the facts. Do you know for example that nazareth did not exist in jesus's time? Archeology points to Nazareth coming into existence in about 150AD. Also there is no evidence for the exodus. A tribe wandering in such a confined area as the Sinai desert would have left traces. A lot of the bible is mythology ergo no difference with mithraism.
Archeology points to the exact opposite direction. Namely, that it DID exist long before AD150. Reputable archeologists like McRay, James Strange, Jack Finegan, and Ramsey all make that point.
The Old Testament can only be considered 'accurate' if you only count the fact that the locations within its books existed or still exist today.
Christianity can trace its roots to Jesus, naturally, but modern contemporary historians can find no total proof that Jesus existed. Paul's account of him comes 30 years after his death, and that was composed entirely of hearsay; the first non-Christian account of a Jesus figure appears 30 years after the first gospels were written.
Don't lie, JF. The Old and New Testament are full of historical errors. The Exodus never happened, the census in Judea never happened. The evidence for the existence of Jesus is indeed very thin. One of the theories are that the figure of Jesus started as a symbol just as Mithra was.
Furthermore, how can you claim that Christianity has texts dating back 2000 BC and at the same time say that Mithranism stole Jewish myths? Maybe the other way around?
That is an outright lie or a very misinformed statement on your part since the Tribe of Dan was part of the allocated lands of Israel, 1200B.C.
Now, according to the pupils of Plato, namely Aristotle and Euxodus say that Zoroaster lived 6000 years before Plate; and the third pupil Hermodor places the date at 5000 years before the Trojan War, thus Zoroaster probably lived 6100 B.C. My source is the book "Introduction to the Holy Gathas" by Poure Davoud.
most of all these christ like figures you read about online dont end up having nearly as much in common as christ as people would want you to think . i have and know allot of people who have done independent investigations on the claims . one thing for sure though was Jesus was not born on december 25 , and the bible never claimed it . christmas was orginally a celebration of some guy that was supposed to be the son of God who was supposed to be born on the 25 ..
actually decemeber 25th was a pagan holiday, and like many pagan holidays like easter and such it was changed for christians. also Jesus was born sometime around the end of september, not decemeber. records seem to indicate this because of the weather it told of.
This based on the Sun's annual solstice. The Sun is at it's highest point in the entire year sky in June, and at it's lowest point in December during the week of Christmas...
ok, well for certain He wasnt born in December. that was my point. to be honest though, i never heard anyone say He was born in June. but now i have lol.
well think about it, the sun at it's weakest/lowest point in the sky supposedly showing the birth of Christ. I tell you what, Christ's birth was not at a weak moment in history or time. The individuals promoting the notion that the bible somehow borrowed from mithra is completely unfounded. The excessive skepticism of the bible stems not from a careful evaluation of the available data, but from an enormous predisposition against the supernatural.

Totalitarianism is not a religion. A religion consists of practices to serve a god. The biggest cause of these problems is the lack of freedom of speech. Worship of a god has nothing to do with it. Christianity is pro free speech btw.

Your understanding of the relationship between the bible and archaeology is naive. For instance, there is no evidence of the Exodus -- in fact the evidence contradicts it -- and there was no city of Jericho at the time the bible has it being destroyed.

The O.T. itself stole stories from The Epic of Gilgemesh, and the Ten Commandments were stolen from the Egyptian Book of the dead, and the story of Jesus WAS stolen from Mithra and Horas....I guess you believe in Noahs Ark too right? I certainly hope not!

Jesus of Nazareth is also a mythical character who was not recorded by historians. (Though there were a bunch of Christians who inserted a forgery into The Antiquities of the Jews.)
Many cities said to have been destroyed by the Jews in the Old Testament have been found to exist, but were found to have been destroyed by causes other than war (like disease or natural disasters). Also, there are good reasons to believe that Jewish war stories were based on those of the Assyrians.
Heathenfidel 2 years ago
If only people could just take the time to check out the original scriptures and see how detailed and how straightforward the Holy Bible really is. Maybe then even the Christians would actually act like true children of God.

So Satan founded Mithrasim? Oh come on.
flatbunny 2 years ago
The concept of "Christian texts" dating back to 2000 BC is delusional. Mithras temples in Persia DO date back that far (and was even worshiped in Rome as early as 67 BC - see Plutarch's Lives, Pompey) so you had to pretend the OT texts are also Christian. The Gospel writers claimed to see prophesies of Christ in the OT, but Jewish scholars don't. The claim Mithras worshipers plagiarized the OT has no foundation, and is simply an assertion. Even early Xn Fathers knew Mithras came BEFORE Christ.
nhprman 2 years ago
Hinging your video's truth or falsity on the claim that Mithras was not a real human being is foolish, because it's a straw man. No one has ever claimed Mithras was a human being. No one. The ancients never asserted that he was anything other than a Divine being. The claim of being a man AND a god is one asserted by Christians about Jesus.
The video does uncover the uncomfortable truth that early Christians likely borrowed concepts from Mithraism & applied them to Christ. Oops.
nhprman 2 years ago
There are no parallels between Mithraism and Christianity. You made a mistake by granting them. Mithra was not born of a virgin, he was born of a rock, he was not the son of God, he did not die or resurrect, he did not atone for sins. I recommend you take this video down.
KabaneTheChristian 2 years ago
kabane if you had your way you would recommend i take all my vids down. sorry but not going to happen.
I never said he was born of a virgin or anything you say I said. I clearly said " According to Mithasim" I am using the sentiments that many people attribute to mithras.
I am conversationally allowing the false claims and attributes Of mithraism to be allowed in order to to show that they are invalid.
Many sources claim that mithras did live up to wildly inaccurate claims.
jezuzfreek777 2 years ago
Dude, you don't need to take everything like I'm being hostile. I'm not. Alright, if you want to take that route I guess you can but I think you should clarify in the description box.
KabaneTheChristian 2 years ago
@jezuzfreek777 Kabane has it right. Mithraism didn't claim that Mithras was born from a virgin; Mithraism claimed that Mithras was born from a rock (do a google search for "Mithras petragenetrix" for pictures). He also didn't die (again according to Mithraism), had no disciples, etc. Oddly enough, you've been misled by critics of Christianity. Most of the supposed similarities between Mithraism and Christianity simpy didn't exist in Mithraism.
Naiant 11 months ago
Ahura Mazda, or Yahweh?
I'd be interested to see you apologize away the introduction of the concept of Satan into the Hebrew scriptures Kabane?
Satan is clearly co-opted by Judaism from Zoroastrianism.
If Christianity proceeded from nothing, than of course you won't see any commonalities.
What I see is the attempt by church fathers to distinguish the fledgling Faith.
Even unto today, the proclamations of Anathema, have not quelled the dissent amongst Christians over doctrine...

Actually JEWISH text goes back to around 1400-1500 BC, not 2000 BC. There wasn't even a Jewish culture or identity back in 2000 BC. According to tradition Moses wrote the first five books (the Torah) around 1400-1500 BC.

I don't know what's more impressive, the breadth of your misinformation, or the depth of it. By all standards, The New Testament is the most reliable document of antiquity (before 1455 when the printing press was invented). The fact that other religions introduced false deities based on Jewish prophesies of Messiah made 400-4000 years before his arrival is not the fault of Christians.

johnnyk2112 2 years ago

Sick shit.
johnnyk2112 2 years ago
Please explain these "errors." Does it occur to you that evolution is the most racist idea ever contrived, and was the driving force behind Hitler's "Final Solution?" You could at least be consistent in your criticism.
cincyninja 2 years ago
Google "bible errors." There are hundred of them. Evolution is not an idea. It is a word that describes the set of fact we observe about the complexity of life on earth. We have the fossils. Evolution had nothing to do with any miotivation of Hitl'er's insane rascism.
johnnyk2112 2 years ago
Really? Everything I have ever seen of the fossil records indicates that fossils remained exactly the same from the time they appeared to the time they went extinct, or in the case of existing creatures, still are today. As for evolution being something we observe, explain to me one time that any creature has ever been observed to have gained genetic material.
cincyninja 2 years ago
Did you get it from credible sources?
And also, bacteria. yep that's right bacteria. They've already shown us the process of evolution time and time again.
fruitytuttiluigi 2 years ago
Yes I did. In fact, If you look up who the first critics of "...Origin..." in 1859, they were not theologians, they were paleontologists. They stated publicly that the fossil record didn't match Darwin's Claims.
cincyninja 2 years ago
Bacteria, you want to die on this hill? Bacterial drug resistance is actually a case of devolving. Take H. Pylori, which causes stomach ulcers. There is an antibiotic that can kill it. What happens is that the antibiotic chemically reacts with an enzyme in the bacterium to form a poison. The drug resistant strain is missing that enzyme. It survives because it is missing genetic material, not because it gained genetic material
cincyninja 2 years ago
Hm, but isn't that a bit relative? What may be de evolution to us may be a form of evolution to the bacteria, since evolution is technically a change, but nobody said it was for the better or worse, just to adapt to its environment, which with that example it clearly is.
fruitytuttiluigi 2 years ago
It just benefits in from it in that way.
cincyninja 2 years ago
Hm, Im pretty sure that evolution was described as the process of adapting to the environment and not getting more complex. For example, there's the coelacanth, an ancient fish that hasn't not evolved for millions of years. The only reasoning for this is to assume that its environment hasn't changed for millions of years as well, or that its simply sturdy enough to survive without anymore mutations.
fruitytuttiluigi 2 years ago
Before I bombard you with jargon and definitions, let's take this from a logical standpoint. If life were to have started as single-celled organisms, then how would they have become multi-cellular by losing genetic data? The biology of mutation is one of devolution, not evolution.
Moreover, the coelacanth is the same now as in the fossil records, because so are all other living animals. Animals do not vary from when they first appear until today or when they last appeared.
cincyninja 2 years ago
Incorrect. The coelocanthe of today is quite morphologically different.Probably by the same amount as modern sharks are to their ancestors.
It's evolved somewhat.

Then the ultimate in stupidity "christianity traces all the way back to creation"
Wrong. Creationism is known by all educated people to be laughably false. Nevermind that christianity wasn't even really established until long after jesus' death. Epic fail.
JACKtheRIPP3R189 2 years ago
Always great to see another bandwagon evolutionist who believes everything he hears on MSNBC. I love the way you start by demanding my sources, but offer none of your own. "Historians" have made a number of false claims. Check out Michael Barnes disproven book "Arming America." Name something that these "Historians" have proven false in the Old Testament. Moreover, while the Old Testament foretells of Jesus, he didn't appear until the New Testament.
cincyninja 2 years ago
"Historians and archaeologists have discovered that most of the old testament is bullshit"-it depends whom you ask, to be honest-even liberal textbooks are changing their tune about the Exodus. Re. Christianity being established 'until long after jesus' death'-thats a very problematic statement.
DolosChristou 2 years ago
Which textbooks? Last i heard Israeli archaeologists had found (much to their dismay) nothing indicating that the exodus was true.
There wasn't even a legitimate bible until long after jesus was dead, many factions believed many different things about jesus. It's not as old or as well-established as they like people to think.
JACKtheRIPP3R189 2 years ago
christian texts go back to 2000 bC???? some jewish texts might (though the vast majority in the 6th century bc...)... btw you may want to read some scholarship that sheds some light on the "predictions" of the OT and how they come about in the NT to see what real scholars have to say about them...
xNickTheBrickx 2 years ago
Real scholars? Real scholars like Crossan argue that the Nt writers were using 'pesher', a common method of the day, and talking in terms of types, etc. If anything I would argue that yourstatement is just as ignorant about what 'real scholars' actually assert about it.
DolosChristou 2 years ago

Sorry, you fail as a mind reader-and Pesher is commonly known-how this excaped a real scholar like you, I have no idea. Re. Crossan, I don't think you read very carefully, because he actually does refer to what I said-maybe its just because I'm a Jew I pay more attention to Jewish concepts about Jewish books. "you fucking idiot"-alas, insulting doesn't make your arguments more valid.
DolosChristou 2 years ago
First off I dont know what I said that made you call me ignorant in the first place because crossan would have agreed with what I said. Pesher is a concept known to them but they dont use it as a concept to explain the writing of the NT or near anything related to it. Oh jeez you call me ignorant off the bat but when i call you a fucking idiot you accuse me of ad hominem... You dont seem to have much comprehension about anything I'm talking about anyway so whatever...
xNickTheBrickx 2 years ago
Actually I said "I would argue your statement is just as ignorant"-there is a differnce between that can calling someone "a fucking idiot"-but what where you saying about comprehension? Btw, I mentioned more then Pesher-and if you do read Crossan, then you can't deny how he explains "according to the scriptures". My advice, switch to decaf.
DolosChristou 2 years ago
You're prolly right about the decaf
xNickTheBrickx 2 years ago

Nice vid JF,
Actually, there aren't even any similarities that would justify thinking Jesus was a "copycat." Mithra wasn't born from a virgin, he emerged from rock making it a cave - he emerged a full adult. He didn't have 12 disciples, he had 1 or 2 followers (it depends if you look at the Iranian version or the Roman). Mithra did not rise after three days - he didn't even die for that matter (according to the stories written about him).

Hey jezuzfreek777.
First off: Good work, I like what you did.

CoffinBuilder89 2 years ago
Dear Coffin, God bless you.
So what do you know that proves the Bible is absolutely true.
jimboedwardlee 2 years ago
What you are saying makes no sense. The Bible being the greatest historical book? The Egyptians have much more archeological evidence for their civilization. In fact, much of what we find in the Bible seems copied from Egyptian thoughts and beliefs. Horus - the Son of God would predate Mithra and is a clear predecessor to Jesus by over 2000years!. The 10 commandments - were predated by the 10 negative confessions of Egypt. Hebrews were in many ways Egyptian wannabe's.

IMO

BS! Christianity dates from the 1st Century CE. It is NOT 4000 years old. Yes, it grew out of the Jewish religion which is about 4000 years old but 4000 years ago Christianity did not exist in any form.
DancingRabbit52 2 years ago
Christianity is based on Jesus who has fullfilled many Old Testament prophecy's, thats why it all fits together and thats also why the christian bible contains the old testament 2.
r44cker 2 years ago
DancingRabbit52 - "but 4000 years ago Christianity did not exist in any form"
The book of Genesis mentions the Savior, Meshiak. God told Adam and Even of the coming Messiah. So the knowledge of the Christ shedding His blood for the remission of sins was known right from the beginning. So, yes, it did in fact exist.
RevDrRussell 2 years ago
I beg to differ. If one defines Christianity as the worship of Jesus as Lord and Savior, crucified, dead and risen, that didn't start until somewhere in the first century AD. Regardless of messianic Old Testement prophecies, no one in the Old Testement times was believing or doing anything vaguely resembling Christianity.
Mithra predated Jesus of Nazarath. Whether or not there was any cross religious borrowing is up for debate. It is historical fact that Mithra came first.
DancingRabbit52 2 years ago

Coalition92x 2 years ago

BBX118 2 years ago
come on people,
I know I laughed when he said Christian stories predate Jesus by 2000 years.
Could it be that both Mithraism and Judaism both borrowed from even older stories?
OtherGonzo 2 years ago
Judaism is based on the Word of God. The Jewish people were God's chosen people to be an example to the world until the coming of the Messiah; he spoke to them directly.
BBX118 2 years ago
Does it date back to the beginning of the world though? Of course not; I'm an evolutionist, I believe the world is billions of years old (which is like a second to God, who is outside matter and therefore time).
BBX118 2 years ago
When we became 'Human' through God-guided evolution, he bestowed upon us a soul, God gives us all the knowledge of morality ("I will engrain the law in their souls and their hearts") and the want to love and worship Him (look at all the world religions, they all "feel" that knowledge of God and so explain it via their religions). God would have been happy having us worship him as we see fit via our little religions, but it came to be that we rejected God and were seperate from Him...
BBX118 2 years ago
so God became man, he lower Himself to his very creation, and died for us, and through this, we are saved.
BBX118 2 years ago
God is real people, no I don't faith. I know He is, deal with it. I'm tired of people going to other Theists or experts for answers or proof. Look for the evidence yourselves. Don't copy the answers from other people's homework, do the homework yourselves. I'll give you a hint, you are the living, breathing scientific evidence that proves He exists. All you have to do, is find out why.

So it is not possible that you are just a confused man, clinging to religion in order to cope with your own insignificance?
Would the strength of your belief be any more then the belief all men have had in their own gods over the eons?
But your god is real right?! Not probable in the least!
Mithra preceded the christian religion!
Skavar4000 2 years ago
Mithra surprises modern Christians, but it was very familiar to the Church Fathers [See e.g. Justin, Origen, Tertullian], who filled their Apologies with dubious rationales as to how Mithraism had anticipated the whole nine yards of Christianity centuries before the supposed arrival of Jesus diabolic mimicry by a prescient Satan being the standard explanation. Pagan critics were not slow to point to the truth: Christianity had simply copied the popular motifs of a competitive faith.

The jewish text is the OLD TESTAMENT!
I'd give you 0 stars, but what ever.
jay666KJ 2 years ago
also, the gospels were written by Mathew, Luke, Mark, etc. Well Mark mentions the destruction of the jewish temple, which was in the year 70.
It is a known FACT by historians that Attis, Mithra, and so forth pre-date christianity, the new and old testament. It's not my opinion, its a FACT.

Epic fail, JF.
SiCurious 2 years ago
well... the only historical evidences of George Washington are historical documents .
People (disciples of Jesus) recorded their testaments onto books that they had to write years after Jesus died , only because they had to learn how to read and write , then practiced to become a rabbi. and there is a week long tradition , before you can write the word "God" onto any holy document.
All this would have taken decades to accomplish. in 100 A.d. , people put the books together into the bible.
alexross8 2 years ago
...the bible wasn't put together in 100ad... it was created at the council of nicaea in 325CE.... read a history book...
galticus 2 years ago
No... the council didn't create the bible.
The testaments were scattered throughout lands that tell of a man named Jesus.
The council merely decided what books would belong in the compilation we know today as the Christian bible.
alexross8 2 years ago

Seriously, if your argument is in anyway correct, all you have proved is that christianity did not plagiarize, but came up with it's own gibberish.
hookedmangoman 2 years ago
Sounds a lot familiar don't it?

Krishna was also similar to Jesus because he was a carpenter, born of a virgin.

You see, the bible is not a history book. Very little written within it can be corroborated by history as recorded by historians. Jesus and his persona is just a small slice of the big pie that cannot be corroborated, so jesus is a myth, just like mithra.
When you want to talk about locations and cities within the bible being verified by historians and archaeologists, that is fine, but do not attempt to imply that these few facts make the entire bible completely true.
boburanus69 2 years ago
If you want to talk about where christianity came from, look no further than the Egyptian story of Horus the sun god. You can also find the model persona of christ in the new testament within the old testament and the story of Joseph.
The difference between historians and christians is huge. Historians, scientists, and archaeologists actually have an objective pov on the subjects they study, instead of an extreme bias like christians do.
boburanus69 2 years ago
jesus was a conceptual entity too douche. there is no records of him outside of the bible. it's sad how you just compartmentalize your brain. sad really.
thisguysajerk 2 years ago
Of course there is. Satetments made without previous research is more sad :)
regelemihai 2 years ago
please review your archeology claims. you have been listening to people who want to fit the story to the facts. Do you know for example that nazareth did not exist in jesus's time? Archeology points to Nazareth coming into existence in about 150AD. Also there is no evidence for the exodus. A tribe wandering in such a confined area as the Sinai desert would have left traces. A lot of the bible is mythology ergo no difference with mithraism.
yellowlabrador 2 years ago
Archeology points to the exact opposite direction. Namely, that it DID exist long before AD150. Reputable archeologists like McRay, James Strange, Jack Finegan, and Ramsey all make that point.
regelemihai 2 years ago
The Old Testament can only be considered 'accurate' if you only count the fact that the locations within its books existed or still exist today.
Christianity can trace its roots to Jesus, naturally, but modern contemporary historians can find no total proof that Jesus existed. Paul's account of him comes 30 years after his death, and that was composed entirely of hearsay; the first non-Christian account of a Jesus figure appears 30 years after the first gospels were written.
DecmanReturns 2 years ago
Don't lie, JF. The Old and New Testament are full of historical errors. The Exodus never happened, the census in Judea never happened. The evidence for the existence of Jesus is indeed very thin. One of the theories are that the figure of Jesus started as a symbol just as Mithra was.
Furthermore, how can you claim that Christianity has texts dating back 2000 BC and at the same time say that Mithranism stole Jewish myths? Maybe the other way around?

And yet, the old Testament "plagiarised" the Gathas of the Zoroastrian religion which pre-dates Judaism by a long shot.
GreyAutumn 2 years ago
GreyAutumn and again, the knowledge that the Tribe of Dan brought forth out of Atlantis predates your precious Zoroastrian... Fail...
2222554 2 years ago
That is an outright lie or a very misinformed statement on your part since the Tribe of Dan was part of the allocated lands of Israel, 1200B.C.
Now, according to the pupils of Plato, namely Aristotle and Euxodus say that Zoroaster lived 6000 years before Plate; and the third pupil Hermodor places the date at 5000 years before the Trojan War, thus Zoroaster probably lived 6100 B.C. My source is the book "Introduction to the Holy Gathas" by Poure Davoud.

most of all these christ like figures you read about online dont end up having nearly as much in common as christ as people would want you to think . i have and know allot of people who have done independent investigations on the claims . one thing for sure though was Jesus was not born on december 25 , and the bible never claimed it . christmas was orginally a celebration of some guy that was supposed to be the son of God who was supposed to be born on the 25 ..
kingbrandor 2 years ago
actually decemeber 25th was a pagan holiday, and like many pagan holidays like easter and such it was changed for christians. also Jesus was born sometime around the end of september, not decemeber. records seem to indicate this because of the weather it told of.

Nate and their is others who say Christ was born in June...
2222554 2 years ago
This based on the Sun's annual solstice. The Sun is at it's highest point in the entire year sky in June, and at it's lowest point in December during the week of Christmas...
2222554 2 years ago
ok, well for certain He wasnt born in December. that was my point. to be honest though, i never heard anyone say He was born in June. but now i have lol.
nateindahood777 2 years ago
well think about it, the sun at it's weakest/lowest point in the sky supposedly showing the birth of Christ. I tell you what, Christ's birth was not at a weak moment in history or time. Thus in December... And the Sun as the solar timekeeper, that is showing you who is in control of time itself. And who is the one that controls all time? That's right God/Christ Himself. Thus a strong sun in June is the more logical birth time of Christ. Not to mention that there is evidence of those figs

being in season... That they could not have come into bloom in the winter months... Good Night All...

Nice work Jezusfreek!
