@ichangedtheworld I took that one back but I do have the 3G. my opinion did not dramatically change as Dan has suggested. However, I bought the 3G because I wanted a simple computer that would constantly be connected to the Internet.
All the HP tablet (and other iPad knockoffs) amounts to is a touch screen netbook. Apple excluded problematic things from the iPad. The more iPads get bought, the more apps will be written and APPS are what the iPhones/Pods/Pads are all about. Give the iPads 6 months and I bet your opinion will change DRAMATICALLY. I'll be buying a 3G version.
... and no video camera? no video conferencing? wtf! this is a child's (expensive) toy. you are right, we will see better things come out shortly... and these early, apple adopters will be wishing that didn't drop that much.
@georgeakapierz@georgeakapierz I never said it was a bad device, in fact I have talked my mother into getting one. Its just not the greatest thing next to sliced bread that Jobs says it is. It has a lot of downfalls.
For example, the inability to connect to a network storage device naitively, or the inability to print using installed drivers. Again, Apple believes that it doesnt need those things when it really does.
You also cannot upload pictures from your iPad without using the facebook for iPhone app. Facebook on the iPad is much better from Safari than the app. Because, as you see in the video, Facebook needs a plug in to be functional.
Would you cut your battery life in half to use Flash? Would you compromise the form factor? Would you like it to be heavier? Warmer? Right now the alternative tablets do this and their UI's are still catching up to what Apple is offering.
I think it is very likely that many web applications will change to accommodate the iPad's functionality, and it will happen soon. I would be very surprised if Google didn't update Blogger accordingly, perhaps even offering a native iPad application.
@cbarcus You would be right but I found that the battery did not last 10 hours for me. I use the internet constantly and for everything. I have experienced an 8 hour battery life on the iPad vs the 10 advertised rate. It also takes almost 4 hours to regenerate from a complete discharge (well not complete still had 17% left.
Its a great device and its something I have been waiting for for a long time. But Apple has it locked down. No Plug ins nothing. I need something to be all inclusive
Hey Paul did you buy the iPad or sell that one yet?
