Started with a YES concert in 79. Have been a BIG fan listen to them very day. Can't drive without a YES tune playing. Agree, YES needs Jon's voice, and Rick's keys. But some is better than nothing.
From the first time I heard Yes music in the 70s, it quickly became a strong presence in my life. The music is highly sophisticated and not for lightweights. Yes was at the height of its' career when it consisted of Jon, Rick, Steve, Chris and Alan. I particularly love Jon's unique voice and spiritualism, the powerful bass & drums, Steve's mastery of sound (especially the high-pitched tones), and what can I say about Rick...the man is truly amazing.
Trevor Rabin butchers this at the end. He takes over the lead toward the end where Steve Howe uses the pedal steel. I didn't want to hear Rabin. I wanted to hear Steve!
Yes Touring without Jon Anderson sorry but a lot of fans just don't want to see Yes without him. I'm not the only one who feels this way. It didn't work without him in Drama. Got nothing agianst Davis benoitle, and think they could maybe tour together and Jon do the classics and Davis do the new. Anyhowe wont be buying any tickets unless Jon is in the line up.

Ahh , yet another re-issue ,YAAAAAAAAWWWNNNN.........the power of psychedelics to delude .Yes a once incredible band in thier day definitely wins the award hands down for "resting on its laurels"...no one else (except perhaps the grateful dead) have been able to repackage and re-release the same thing over and over and over again ....more power to ya Chris, not only for the great music of the past but for great marketing strategies
Yes = No. Can't blame them for trying to reboot the franchise (those Squire boots don't come cheap). But their influence & popularity are long past. I've enjoyed the albums of recent years, but I don't have a real connection with any of them. Can you honestly say you do? Like CTTE?
I've been as angry as anyone about their treatment of Jon, but, frankly, having seen him live this summer I'd much rather be in his position than theirs. He's having fun. They're squeezing turnips for blood.
@sonnenberg You're a wanker. Get informed about Anderson's antics from 2001 to 2008 before spouting off. Then think about "Occam's razor" - what's more likely? 3 guys acted like jerks, or 1 guy? But in brief: Anderson said no more studio albums, then said no more tours, then sold off his share in Yes, then left the band for the 3rd time, then didn't turn up for 2005 studio album, then demanded more $ than HSW for 2008 tour. ONLY THEN did he get sick, after being a jerk for years, and pouted.
@kirklott Your arguments are compelling. I'll quit judging the situation on the basis of my limited view.
Ultimately, what I think is this: the Yes ship sailed long ago. I'd love to see them quit making studio albums, break up altogether, create five new bands with plenty of young, creative composing musicians, and move on. Do a reunion tour every five years to keep the old stuff alive. But they'll never recreate the success they had. They just won't. It's sad to see them try.
Remember that it was Joh's voice that was the soul of this band. I know he's old, but hell so are most of the fans. Thanks Benoit for being there with the guys, but bring Jon and Rick on for at least for some "cameos" on your next tour.
@1dydmtdmtd I'm with thor19b. If repetitious head banging stuff is for you then stay away from YES. These gentlemen are artists in the most all encompasing sense of the word. Give them a better listen, yes? MB
@SelfInstructor Nop I stick to boring. Although great in the seventies, what did they do in the last decades? Nothing more then finding them self great!.
I've been a Yes Fanatic since I was thirteen! I am now fifty four. I have seen them in Europe and all around the States. They HAVE NO PEERS! PERIOD. I listen to Yes every day. It's going to be a sad day for me and all Yes fans when they cease to exist! They have been a Major part of my life. It's hard to believe that these men are that talented! NO PROGRESSIVE ROCK BAND IS BETTER! God,I love these guys!
@beagleboy1955 I have to agree... They're all great by themselves but some sort of nuclear fusion happens when they're together.... And this is such a great tune....
@beagleboy1955 They are the most talented musicians anywhere! I was in awe after the 1st time I saw them in Chicago on July 26, 2002! I said that I'll never see more talented men than these 5!
This is so awesome, all of Yes on one stage. Saw them 4 times on this tour and went backstage at Wembley so has loads of good memories. One of the best gigs ever, can't wait for the dvd
Wow, sucks to be you bbmusic1 - such a pessimist. Union was a wonderful tour, and for Yes fans like me one of the first chance to see different amalgamations of my favorite band step onto the stage to perform some of their finest work.
I've got the Japan show already (pristine version) on DVD, so I'm happy the DVD will be a different night of the tour. And since I saw the tour in the round and on the normal stage, this makes it even better.
This blows, was really hoping it was the Japan show that has been widely bootlegged. This was one of the few show that was not in the round, and it was the last night of the tour, the band is clearly tired and just wants to get it over with. The sound quality seems like it's very good though.
Jon was the soul of this group. No offense, David, you are good, but we want Jon too. How about another Union type of thing with Jon and Rick along with Oliver and Dave.
One day after the union-show in Frankfurt Germany i saw a refiew in the newspaper. No sign, no hint in my hometown near frankfurt in the time before. what an sh...! saw them on three other tours, but the union-tour will never be seen again live.
Steve Howe just blows Rabin away with sheer mastery over speed and musical expression over `flashyness `. Howe´s playing is immense. A true guitarist.
Rabin is fantastic, but he lacks the ability to be instantly recognizable. Howe on the other hand.. well, when he plays there´s , " No doubt, No Doubt " it´s him.
( thens here´s Rabin bum note at 1:03 that clashes horribly with Howes solo )
Wow. This is great! Can't wait to see this entire DVD. I saw this tour in the round and remember them busting out Awaken after so long. Although the sound was a bit cluttered, seeing Squire in that striped duster strangling that triple neck was like owning a time machine set back to 1977! Thanks for the post!
Summer Tour 2011...
Yes without Jon,
Styx without Dennis...
