Big ships can't hit small and fast ships, the smaller ships can swarm and cripple a bigger ship in seconds before a bigger ship can even respond effectively. So, yes smaller ships can very easily threaten a bigger warship, especially when they carry anti-warship missiles and rockets.

It doesnt matter if the Iranian video is true or false. It doesn't negate the video and fact that the Iranian boats where aggressive and confrontational with the US ships and could have sparked a shooting incident. And it doesnt matter about the audio either. The video is clear- and it wasn't the first time either.

As far as I know, there is ZERO evidence of any faking and nothing in the Iranian video contradicts anything in the US video, they could have been taken at different times.

As far as why this one is an issue? Because it is larger than the others and finally crossed the line.

Actaully the Supreme Leader just gave the IRGC control over naval operations in the Persian Gulf recently. Google it- it was in the news.

And it not just an "irregualar unit" it is an elte force that has it's own command structure that ultimately reports to the Supreme Leader- The Ayatollah.
