This beats crunks! Every time I played this level it made me want to dance! But the Sega Genesis version had much more Soul than this. Bring that back!
I can think maybe why they used the SNES versions. I prefer some of the SNES over the PC but its a few select song where the bass feels to add to the song.
Also i don't care if you grew up SNES fan or Sega fan, I think we can all agree that the Sega CD version will ALWAYS have the best soundtrack due to it's updated sounds and FUGGIN GUITAR SOLOS OMGITSSOAMAZING.
These aren't composed by Diego Zaldivar. Most of these Earthworm Jim pieces are compositions by Tommy Tallarico. Maybe this guy re-orchestrated them, but they aren't his compositions.
Despite all the fanboy hate, I'm with you. Sega Genesis had the best version of ALL, precisely because of the grimdark vibe it had, and what goes better with a level called NEW JUNK CITY than a distorted synth and slap bass?
This one isn't too bad. It's a nice dark theme, although it's not as good as the Genesis and SNES themes. Personally I think the Sega CD version was the best. :)
Doug Ten Apel Made "The Neverhood" and "Earthworm Jim"...Terry Scott Taylor made the Soundtrack for The Neverhood and Skullmonkeys. If he had done the Soundtrack for Earthworm Jim too, this would sound like gods voice. They are genius.
The synth at 0:33 sucks. Everything sounded cool. I'm all for added ambience, but they should've blended in a 16-bit-sounding lead or a real instrument. What's there sounds wimpy and gay.
Jim (firing ray gun): Eat dirt hyper-kinetic scoundrel! Ah ha ha ha ha haaaa!
LOL! Man, just hearing that tune makes me thing about this game all over again! New Junk City was my favorite stage, next to Lorenzo's Soil and Level Ate! Thanks Renegade!
Thank you for uploading these songs but do take in mind that the SNES version is factually BETTER than the Genesis for the factoid that it had a more advanced sound system. The Genesis is great but the SNES was built for varying styles of music which is what Earthworm Jim is full of.
Please take in account not which system is your favorite but the wonderful advantages of both. You really can't make synth base like an SNES or a Genesis. You just can't.
@Renegade466isback Please do. By the way, what's the name of the track for the bonus stage where the keyboard cat is the boss. The theme of that boss, specifically.
People if you want music like this it's called Atube Catcher. You can download videos like this and convert it into and mp3 format. Ever have any music videos you have seen on youtube and want to keep watching? You can do the same for those too. Just google it, and it's self explanatory.
Probably the only person who prefers this and the SNES version over the Genesis version. The ambient feel suits the level well IMO. (I own this game on Genesis btw)
@TailsSR I'm with you, buddy. The SNES was made with better instruments. It's nothing to it. Better instruments. It's like Saying the Wii isn't better than the PS3 because of graphics. As games like Super Mario Galaxy 2 prove, graphics and bloodshed don't make a game. Fun does.
@TailsSR I agree. The ambience really works for it, and the stage. In my opinion it's what really makes the song: the mix between the ambience and the bass - in comparison the Sega version seems kind of... muted.
My favorite version is the PC version, though - it pulls of intense and ambient at the same time, sort of.
I find it brutally disappointing that this is based on the SNES version rather than the Genesis or Special Edition versions... Even though improves on the instruments a great bit, I still wish it were a bit more exciting, because it STILL sounds a bit bland...
Those f***ers better patch a better version of this tune into the game at some point... lol
I don't know why they insist on changing the music on every port. This isn't bad, it's like a mix of Sega CD and something else. Bassline is great the rest, meh.
So what? Many think the opposite. Believe me, I'm not the only one who thinks that the SNES music wasn't "trash". In fact, personally, I like it better. That's a matter of opinion, please don't disregard that.
Both tracks use the exact same notes, all they did was switch the melody with the harmony because the Genesis soundchip couldn't produce a bass soundbyte loud enough.
@Renegade466isback Why are people still arguing over which console had better music? It's not like its 1993 anymore or something like that. When are people gonna give it a rest? I like the majority of Super Nintendo game graphics and I like Sega Genesis Music. Why can't we just compromise?
@Renegade466isback The SNES music is quite good, actually. Some songs sound better on it, some sound better on the Genesis, and most sound better on PC.
@HawtDawg925 I hate to admit it, but that guy is right.. even though he put it so crudely.. The Genesis version was tighter and really solid. It may use a lower level sound system but the SNES version is just loose.
They are not changing the music on purpose. It's the quality of the sound modules in every platform that make it sound different. The most listenable is the PC version with soundblaster.
This beats crunks! Every time I played this level it made me want to dance! But the Sega Genesis version had much more Soul than this. Bring that back!

Final Fantasy Shrine forums have an incomplete rip of it, with alot of skipping and other errors in the track.
