and the last but probably the most important. the drop hit top of the head exactly on the center of the main brain not front of the face. and is calculated to pass behind your ears so you cannot lick it while you begging for water because of the salty fish.... so far i never heard any human being to pass this torture. we tried it with my friends /without the rest of the cruelties of course/ and we came to conclusion that nerves are loaded to the outer limits

But from what I've read, it's the inconsistency of the drips. A single drip of water isn't that annoying, but the human brain wants to have some kind of pattern in everything. It's also more something psychological than physical.
Actually the reason they aren't consistant isn't due to that, the human brain will, if exposed to something repetitively, eventually start ignoring it (best example is when you're at a computer for hours, then turn it off, suddenly everything is alot quieter).
Its only psychological when they prime you with info (The water will slowly eat into you) and when the water is hot/cold and irregular. Combine that with lack of sleep and you'll do just about anything to get out of there.

I had this happen to me once, not for real, just to see what it was like. There are 2 terrible parts to this.
You literally feel pain, it hurts. Perhaps not as much as a broken arm but it's quite terrible.
You get cold, your mind starts hurting, you start to get physically annoyed and angry.
I imagine it gets worse as time goes by, I only lasted 40 minutes before I had to get out.
I did this under chilled water, I can't imagine what it would be like with ice.

@sga86 they're not saying this is waterboarding... it's just one way of water torture. as "MultiCrisper" described: besides waterbording most of the time random drips of water are used. Water boarding gives you the feeling you're drowning, whereas drips are more of a mental torture.

@zzq123k You dont get it. Your brain will try to figure a pattern in the water dropping on your head, but the water didn't have a pattern. So you would slowly go crazy because your body is trying memorize the pattern.

Who you are would be changed forever, people literally are driven insane by this. They no longer have rational thought or self-awareness, they are physically unharmed bu as a human being? They are destroyed. Your family, your friends... you couldnt connect with anyone ever again. You couldnt even have a simple conversation.

"Water torture" is the random drops of water onto a tied or strapped down person without stop for up to 3 days. The drips have to fall not in a pattern but a random order. Since the brain will try to focus on the pattern when in fact there is none, the psyche slowly wears itself out to the point where it is distorted. I.E. the torture victim goes insane just from trying to identify the drip-drop pattern when in fact there was none.

@MultiCrisper If you've ever been near a construction site or someone working with a heavy tool, listen to the banging or hammering they are doing. After a very short while you will notice that you are trying to identify the pattern of the banging sounds, whether there's actually a pattern there or not. And its not like you can control what your brain picks up and what it doesn't.

Waterboarding doesn't simulate drowning, tell me 10 year olds, how do you SIMULATE drowning while fully awake? It drowns you under more controlled circumstances so they can suffocate you to the brink of death but keep you alive for the answers you provide that aren't reliable since you will say anything to make it stop.

@simpleman951 Uh no. Waterboarding is a simulation of drowning, it's a pseudo-exocution. It's mental torture and it leaves victims traumatized. Someone can recover from having a finger chopped off, it's very difficult to recover from the trauma from waterboarding. That's why it's a highly contested torture tactic, it causes no "real harm" but it's very detrimental to the psyche.
