The most amazing thing is that I can stick Ubuntu CD in and the PC runs right away without any installations of any hardware. Sound, wifi etc it's all there. So why Wins go through so much pain to run hardware?

That is normal, when you type your password in the terminal, you will not see anything. Not even asteriks or dots or anything. Just keep typing and press enter when you are done with your password. :)

@SneakyKid go to application tab. Then software manager (or something like that) then do a search for compiz. Download one of the managers and install it then you sill see it

Yes i know Go to cube reflection and deformation when deformation and if you have the sphere setting on the deformation change that to none.

ive fixed the problem that a lot o people have had about not being able to enable the extra visual effects. well in the youtube search type in 'use visual effects' (without the ') and it should be the 1st choice by learning ubuntu and the title doesnt matter what video card you have just do what he shows you and in the terminal when it says to check drivers say yes and a window should pop up with the latest video card driver and install that and then it should work. ask i you have questions

same problem as tijo. I have a 9800 GX2 graphics card and it should be WA more than needed and still it says it cant be enabled. maybe a driver can help but i searched it up for the 180 nvidia version i could not find it
