Lovely Truck, please restore it and drive it into a dry place, the wetness let the brakes, the airlines and all hydraulics rust away quite fast...very hard to get any parts
a great old truck i have one myself youve maybe seen her on flickr i noticed you have some spares i dont suppose you would part with any i desperately need a dashboard and some other bits an pieces many thanks.great to see your old scammell on here.
@howiesscammell i have seen your scammell on flicker looks good, wish mine was as good.i have a old dash from a mk2 but it is damaged most of the bits you see are from my one that need to go back on ,i need a fair few bits for mine steering ball joints ,headlights, bumper etc.
Nice to see the old girl still in one piece, I worked for Arlington motors, in Willesden, London, in the late 70's, and have many happy memories working on these.Probably the best 8 legger about then.
hi ricandlou thank`s for your comment this routeman was bought from arlington motors in brentfield rd ,it was new in 1978 only done 167000 k`s been parked over 25 years and 1 owner my dad .
Good grief! in 1978 I was a chargehand at Arlington motors in brentfield road. The fitters were split up into 3 sections, each with a chargehand. My section did no end of work on scammells, mostly the routeman. We sold no end of them, they were excellant tipper chassis. Loads of Irish contractors had them, they used to say they were for "Muck away" I hope you don't scrap the old girl.
yea she runs and drives put a video of starting it,needs some work but will get it done oneday.truck is in ireland and i am in london so only get to see it on holidays
i worked on gravel pits around slough and maidenhead in the 90s....the old boys drawing in and out told me you were worth ur weight in dog poo unless u had driven a scammell!!!!!!!
Try a wanted ad in "classic and vintage commercials" magazine, all sorts crop up in there. good luck with it, they were probably the best 8x4 tipper money could buy back in the '70s
My dad had one of these around Slough Maidenhead area in late 70s early 80s. Its what I learnt to drive in as a boy!!!! Hope you get everything you need. If I win lotto it'll be the first luxury item i'll buy!!!!! Good Luck
scammell was part of british leyland ,daf bought leyland and paccar bought daf. i think it was mainly uk for these 8 wheel tippers,my dad had this from new.

I think one of the vauxhall cars used the same headlights, viva or victor or something, might be worth looking into if you still need some lights.
