  • informative and interesting

  • nhprman, you're talking like a Harvard-educated fool. It's not surprising you don't understand the message of this video.

  • every one shuts his door some days.

  • left-leaning? Trashing of business and efficiency?

Hardly. It merely states that there are other principles than efficiency that matter when it comes to education.

If you look at the business world and the amounts they spend on training—and the rather sorry outcomes they get from that training—you'll see that higher education is remarkably effective.

  • Pretentious.

  • 1987 sucks balls and 1988 and 1989 sucks also...bunch of idiots where born

  • Absolutely. I completely agree. Just look at medicine for example. Women doctors don't work as many hours and thus are contributing to the health care shortage.

  • It's not just the guys off Wall Street, oh no! Non for you Higgins you paraquat [: )=>.

  • I clicked on the Education Tab and I get an advertisment.

    FUCK THIS COLLEGE

  • It was douche bags who went to ivy league schools who ended up screwing "main street". Those schools can rot.

  • Isn't this institution a non-profit?

If so, then a VC commenting on its business model, as if it were a for-profit enterprise, is silly.

  • dddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddd

  • hala wa gala

  • Most college kids just want a good laugh...4 funny shit. Search F'n Singin Telegrams

  • But could you offer the same "world class product" for less money per student? Does Dartmouth, or any elite university for that matter, need multi-million dollar student centers, gyms with climbing walls and saunas, fully funded departments in incredibly small and specialized areas?

  • Philophobiac

  • I have friends from Darthmouth and they are placed high in the industry and always look up to the college and its values. It has surely done something good to the future of many aspiring adults. So whatever business model they choose becomes irrelevant if they can do justice to the educational needs of the immidiate society.

  • did anyone else notice the leo glyph at the begining of the video?

at the top right of the graph at 23 sec.

  • i really hope this was written with all the seriousness of Jonathan Swift's satirical "A Modest Proposal"

  • i don't like the narration; it doesn't match the imagery...

  • I dont like your name, it doesnt match what you just said...

  • puta madre, el internet esta lleno de maricones

  • Dartmouth, education for the rich

  • This makes me want to go to Dartmouth now.

  • Thursday encontre este video An Enterprising Institution Random Content muy bueno allthemarket . net

  • Why is this on the front page of YouTube?

    Does anyone know?

  • Dartmouth produces employees like every other college.

  • Why don't they go ask for some money from Alumni Timothy Geithner. I'm sure they'd be proud to get donations from the guy who's fucking over our economy.

  • Dartmouth? That's where the guy "Andy" from the Office came from.

This video really didn't inspire me. Show me how 30K a year is worth the education and show me the return on investment to our community. I see very intelligent people come out of our top public schools who pay literally 1/10th of the price.

  • Yeah but in general public schools do not do a very good job with education either. Those individuals you are mentioning are exceptions to the general trend. Education is not a right. The private sector handles education best. Look at the top ten universities in the nation and notice how few are public universities.

  • The private sector already handles public education--fuck, business runs government.

Wake up, all your wildest dreams have already come true.

  • And that's why you'll never be president.

  • LOL! its surprising how true that is

  • Come back in ten years after you grow up a bit, maybe see the world out side of the USA before you start talking out your ass.

  • Just find wealthy people and say "Hey, give us some money or, you see this dart? It's going into your mouth!"

  • omg, i think about this all the time! there are people that makes the world better, worst, and just the same

  • Are they saying that grad students teaching in a huge classroom is good? That's the part I didn't understand.

  • Liberal Arts a good "value"? HA!! In this economy? Higher education is a business and this is pure marketing.

The actual career options of a "liberal arts" degree have always been fewer than science, technical or even, yes a vocational degree. Those degrees are REQUIRED by employers. Liberal arts degrees are NOT. Especially now.

Sure, a liberal arts degree has value and half of that value I can get a public library by the way. So is that worth 45,000 dollars a year?

  • i love it!!

  • Brilliant! Provocative. Puts everything into proper perspective.

  • dartmouth's endowment fell 18% this past February. Is that the reason this video came about?

  • EVERYONE'S endowments dropped. It's called...a poor economy.

  • Dartmouth's endowment fell less that most of the other Ivy Leagues. If your investments made money this past year then it's the exception.

So many non-profits could use this sort of message to show why giving to them is important. I showed it to my wife and she plans to show it around her office.

  • I don't recall the endowment ever being discussed as the video was put together - it was mostly inspired by Ernie's take on the topic.

  • this is wonderful. Is there someone whom I could contact to know more about this business model? I am doing a research, and I am proposing certain concepts related to a similar model. .. Excellent work, btw. All the best.

  • Amazing. Love the visuals....reminds my of the Dear Old Dartmouth from the memory books.

  • and thats why im going there. SO PUMPEDD DMOUTH 13!!

  • WORST CLASS EVER

  • Very impressive, totally outside the box in this area.

  • Info on who created this? So well-done!

  • This is cutting edge.

  • Awesome publication! very dynamic! :P

  • I Agree.
