I don't like watching drum covers because I think it sounds funny having two sets of drums playing the same song. You'll never be 100% in time with the other drummer and some notes will sound doubled or "echoed" if you will. I like drum covers when the original drum track has been removed... just my two cents, you're a very good drummer and keep making videos :)
it's not a good video man, I didn't say that it's a bad cover... u just didn't record your footage work which is the most cool on Meshuggah songs... Bless
I don't know about your speakers, but with my speakers it's very hard to hear Tomas' bassdrum even my bass is not very clear sounding. Also it's impossible to hear Tomas' snare, toms and cymbals from under my drumtrack. I didnt cut Tomas' drumtrack.
i use Sennheiser speakers. So dont worry about them. They are among the best in the market. But that`s not the reason. Cause i get amazing bass drum sounds watching other youtube drummers and i can very clearly tell the difference between the original and the cover by listening on my cheap speakers as well. In your case, it is something weird. The only bass drums i can hear are the original, i.e. Thomas haake. So i dont think its got anything to do with my speakers.
Amazing effort man. I highly regard anyone who can keep the normal 4/4 timing with their hands while doing Thomas Haake's brilliant polyrhythmic double bass lines.
don't look like a stiff dick when you're playing drums, relax a little :) anyways well played but i can't really hear your bdrum under the playback :/
i asked him the same question about his bass drum not being heard. His reply was that the only bass drum heard was his. Now either thomas`s drums are cut off or this guy is not playing the bass drum .
You can hear his bass drums quite clearly with headphones, they are alot more "thuddy"/boomy than Haakes. The original drums are still there, as it would be impossible to remove them without either doing clever things with the stereo image, which could cut out the middle channel but would leave guitars in mono, or having access to the original multitracks.
nice cover dude. but yeah i know "concentrating and only playing whats necessary" is good, but come on. that was an insane cover. but fucking kill those cymbals move around a little. awesome job dude. keep it up
Solid. If a drummer can play Meshuggah that drummer is way ahead of the rest of us and you certainly proved it that point. One of my favorites and you rocked it.
Fuck Yes! Good Job. I Always have Trouble With The Break Fill. You Nailed It. I Did Notice You Do the Same thing I Do When You Play This Song, CONCENTRATE! no extra movement or Grooving Out While You Play Cause It Destroys Time. Haha. You're A Beast!
I can't even play double kick, let alone poly rhythms. I hear once you learn how Tomas follows the melody with his feet instead of his hands, harder songs are approachable. but damn my friend, You picked a tough example to learn from . RESPECT
