    Squier Telecaster

Squier and guitarist Joe Trohman (the Damned Things\Fall Out Boy) have teamed up to create an unusual new take on the venerable early-'70s Fender Telecaster Deluxe. The Joe Trohman Telecaster guitar is a triple-pickup beauty that rocks a ton of tones with easy switching features. Like all Squier guitars, it delivers ...

  • does this have humbucking pickups or single coil pickups ? And if you have to choose between the vintage modified tele custom I or vintage modified tele custom II which would it be ?

  • @gearwire can you do a review for the squier vintage modified tele, without the p90's?

  • i can only say.... go today and buy it. really... in black looks great, but i was shocked the 1st time i play it. cause it really has an amazing sound quality

  • i have this one... i´ve already bought an epi lp 56... and i have to say... this guitar is great.... one pf the best values at any prize...

  • Damn! Tighten that truss rod!

  • is this humbucker or single coil??

  • @cxgzxcfzx9777 P-90s

  • oooh if only the fretboard was rosewood...

  • My exact guitar.

  • Too much relief in the neck as seen @ 1:37.

  • weezer!

  • Круто,гитара хорошая!

  • Guess tis guitar doesn't have tat twang

  • how much is this guitar ??

  • thank you for demonstrating with an actual song (a great song at that) and not some stupid ass blues lick

  • @macvicious13 and @Melvinpoindexter182 squier also sells the telecaster custom with humbuckers.

  • i hate when you look at the camera in the intro

  • Orgazmic

  • what's the song at the beginning

  • @BillyTalentguitar1 Say it aint so by Weezer

  • I bought this guitar yesterday ♥♥ :)

  • The aggressive guitarist! :D

  • WEEZER! :D

  • The Squier CV and Vintage Vibe lines are some Best buys to be had in my experience.

  • 1:37 Holy CHRIST, would you look at that action!

  • @metalgtrfreak too much action!not good!no thanks!

  • @KORINALOVER you can adjust the action -_-

  • Is there anyway I could maybe replace the p90's for humbuckers. And this is an AMAZING review, by the way

  • @Melvinpoindexter182 Have the same question!

  • bei 1:38 hat die eine scheiss saitenlage

  • wich guitar is better? squier telecaster custom or squier telecaster custom II ? I'll buy a guitar and I am undecided

  • The perfect squier guitar for modifying and making it superB

  • I´m an old fashioned guy, so I like to create my tones using only the guitar controls. The neck P90 sound great for blues. In the middle position you can create any sort of different tones messing only with the volume and tone controls, and the bridge p90 souns amazing. The combination of the classic metallic sound of a tele with the clarity, and bite of a P90 create a killer tone. Far better than a HH (In my opinion. So if you want a great sounding, looking axe for a ridiculous prize, go for it

  • Really, I have this guitar for about a month now. I initially wanted the 56 RI les paul, but I couldnt fnf anywhere, so I ordered this one. The R6 arrive first and it´s great. Beatiful guitar. Then this one arrived and I didnt want it anymore. But in the store I played it, connected to a fender 30 watt amp. So I bought it. And it´s awesome. It has the lightness and playability of a tele with the electric setup of a les paul. Sounds amazing. It´s now my main axe

  • whats the first song I recognize it but can't put my finger on it >?

  • @97rockgod I guess you must be talking about Say It Ain't So by Weezer

  • "bolth"

  • IMO Squier Tele Custom II P90 is the best Squier and a non-Caster-Ish guitar ever..I mean, A Telecaster with P90s, String-Thru Body and 2 Volumes and 2 Tones.

  • @AzArAzA95 fender always does whatever they can to make great sounding guitars. P-90s are gibson pickups but Fender uses them anyway because sound is important to them. not politics.

  • well done video... good playing and clear demonstration of the guitars features. I own one of these guitars, just 'cause I couldn't resist buying a cool P90 equipped guitar for $150 used. I would've bought a PRS SE w/P90's if I could've found one cheap but I seriously doubt I'd find one used for less than $350 .... this Tele is fun to play and I like the 25.5 inch scale once in a while compared to my other guitars

  • yea i think it sounded like poop

  • Alnico 5, not 2. lrn2guitarspec

  • @Finderbeing

all pickups are like that though.

  • @xPsuedo not really. a pickup has to be wired very hot to get distortion from a relatively clean amp.

  • is that guitar nice for punk rock music?

  • The prob here is that he is distorting the hell out of the p90s with a pedal or amp distortion. the cool thing about p90s is when you turn up the guitar through a loud amp they naturally distort and when you back off the volume they get a nice mellow clean tone. thus all the work can be done on the guitar and not at your feet. saving your feet for delays, reverbs, phasing, and yes looping.

  • Ma prochaine guitare !

  • @gearwire THIS is the right way to do a guitar review. Feature the guitar by playing a familiar song. Speak only about the features and keep the talking brief with a clear shot of the playing. I appreciate the professionalism.

  • @TheStrigiforme Now if only the guitar would be really in tune :/

  • @cbranchereau Pffft... tunings for college kids.

  • @TheStrigiforme and so are apostrophes.

  • This one or a brand new VM jazzmaster?

  • I love weezer, but that was god awful.

  • this guy is just so clueless.

  • the overdrive on this is supposed to sound THICK. think a big muff, or marshall guv'nor.

  • @eatmyorangemarmalade Yea, almost like a fuzz pedal. only less saturated. If i could find that distrotion he used, i would be happy!

  • Weezer!

  • can you take the pickguard off?

  • @watchtower95 yes, but only for some adjustments or something(dunno how to call it) cuz the pickups are alinged with the ppickguard.

  • how thick is the neck in comparison to standard teles? thanks

  • weezer ftw

  • The reviews on this guitar are right on!...its a 'beast'

  • This video takes me back to the old days where i had my first squier guitar, a boss distortion and a crappy 15w marshall amp.... damn that sucked!

  • I got it. Its an awesome guitar. Very good quality for you money. A nice variety of sounds. Only fault: The input jack. Its rubbish

  • @kimdonot easily replaceable, in fact i pretty much find myself doing that with most guitars after not too long. if thats the worst, i should seriously look into this guitar.

  • how much difference would it be, between this guitars (Squier VM series) and the MIM fender guitars, for example the standard tele or the new blacktop series?

  • @maufonseca17

This is one of the few Guitars Squier and Fender make with P90s, so if that's your thing then this would be the guitar for you.

A Standard Tele would sound very sparkly and bright compared to this and the Blacktop would be louder, warmer and rounder.

  • How much difference could be between this guitar and a MIM fender tele?

  • What distortion were you using... so I know what to never buy, ever.

  • Heard the neck is pretty chunky...

How does its neck compare to say a standard acoustic guitar neck?

  • I have this guitar in matte black. It's fantastic.

  • JIM MORRISON!!!!

  • Say it aint so!!!! This guitar is amazing right???

  • i agree very well put!!

  • Wow, you can see how poorly the truss is setup at 1:35

... then the guitar is blamed for this at 2:02 :P lol

But like most Squiers these days, it definitely seems like great bang for the buck. Even Gearwire can't hide that;)

  • bardzo ochydny przester ... az sie scyzoryk otwera w kieszeni ...

  • @biggayal1992 i'm aware of that but i love the butterscotch blonde finish on that guitar which is inconviniently not avalible for the humbucker version

  • anyone know if this guitar could take a humbucker in the bridge position?

  • what is better to get the squier tele custom ii with p90s or a squier tele custom i

which is better for playing hard rock / metal ? help please

  • is this P90? I thought it's P50 ...

  • i am gettin that guitar soon!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • can any1 compare some squier tele? what do you think is the best tele squier model in sound and Playability? classic vibe? classic 50 or vintage modified?

  • @00DirectorsCut00 I used to own one of these, until I bought an Epiphone Casino Sometimes I wish I still had it because it was a brilliant guitar, the pickups sounded nice and dirty (as this vid demonstrates).

I remember the neck on mine being quite fat. It's fat compared to the Cv '50s Tele I've got. The Custom neck isn't glossed, so playing faster solos is probably slightly easier.

Mine was slightly on the heavy side though. still, for the price these guitars are indeed a steal.

  • Some great Squiers out there.

    **Check my Strat demo.

  • Say it aint so. Awesome!

  • WEEEEEEZER!

  • I personally own this guitar and I can tell it is worth at least 20 times more than what's being shown on such a crappy demo.

  • @antesto I play some folk rock with it. It impresses me each day more with good clean settings.

  • Is GearWire something like anarchistic saboteurs group which convinces people to NOT buy good stuff???

  • Sorry, but based on this guy's playing, I'd stay away from the Squires, but I know that their quality far surpasses his playing level.

  • These guys should get out sometime from that basement .. they need some fresh air!

  • 99% of gearwire videos are a joke not surprising as they are made by incompetent twats!

  • if i've got a gibson lp studio and a fender delonge strat would this guitar disappoint?

and how are the p90's for like punk/rock/hardcore.. i play stuff like brand new, title fight and much heavier stuff. any opinions would be great

  • @alk3jkb i don't own this guitar but my mate does, he has about loads of guitars and i was playing it and i just fell in love with it instantly i have a telecaster affinity and i play used to play with a lp junior (forget the exact model) the lead gutarist in the band i'm in she has a lp studio and shes heard this one and likes it, so i would recommend it but only if you're going to play punk etc but your current set up i would say if you have extra money then yeah but no rush for it

  • lol, the harm was a bit curved

  • There are a lot of useless videos floating around on youtube. This is one of them.

  • somebody was on a weezer kick when they made this video!

  • ahha i have this guitar and all i can say is it is an awesome fucking guitar and i love it for ever! but mine is black it looks better

  • Nice video review.

Does anyone know what FX pedals are used on the start of this video?

  • What kind of amp are you using?

  • this guy looks like jesus with short hair....

  • Is this thing as light as a strat? I have a les paul and it fucking kills the back.

  • terrible tone. what are you playing through? the guitar sounds way better than this.

  • That demo sounded very good. I don't understand the hate for this guy, but I guess it's all politics after all.

  • wow the neck should be adjusted.

  • The action is so high on that and the neck is bowed. lol

  • why did you play say it aint so at the startd can u nt make ur on tune??

  • why can't you spell for shit? or can you not spell?

  • well i can just cant be botherd wasting my time with cunts tht cant play play :S

  • I just came when i heard that guitar lol jk this dude is good and im gettin that guitar

  • what type of pedal is that?

  • This guy is awesome, because unlike so many stuck up guitar reviewers who are only in it to show off, he isn't afraid to just mash some power chords every now and again. i love it!

  • Epiphone LS2 Spec. is a very cheap and priceless guitar buy squier tele or fat strat. Better and both have same price like ls2!

  • im stuck between this ax and the epiphone les paul special 2. I play old school country blues and getting started with learning rockabilly but i also want to play hard rock as well. If i were to get the les paul, i could just use my pedal with a amp setting to make it sound like a hollowbody right?

  • @MrHastadam its the solo from the song say it aint so by weezer dude

  • can someone please tell me what pickup did he used at 0:34 until 1:02??

  • Bridge

  • @ezzong

    Looks like both.

  • @ezzong it looks like 0:34-0:43 he used the bridge pickup and for the solo he put the switch in the middle

  • how does this handle jazz?

  • He's a pretty decent guitarist *and* bassist. I wonder what his first instrument was... :)

  • ..... Yup i'm buying one.....

  • 0:09-0:19 it sounds SOOO good clean.And distorted.Wow man,and for like $250. Jesus.

  • its really a steal. i love this guitar.

  • Sounds like Weezer!

  • @femtini yeah its pretty obvious he was playing say it aint so lol.

  • I cant find one of these for sale for the life of me.they sound good.real good.

  • omg its the second coming of jesus! and he plays a squier... great...

  • @Jimmypage198765 jesus has got the blues, all these wars must be the reason

  • HAHA! "Or he will fall on you from a great height"!! The video ended before i stopped laughing:D watching it one more time now :D

  • is the finish on this guitar natural or yellow?

  • It's Blonde. Probably Butterscotch Blonde.

It's sort've a combination of yellow and natural.

  • @ChablesMan Yep, Its Butterscotch blonde

  • Is that a black sock wrapped around your head?

  • whats the song at 0:33?

  • Thats weezer's 'say it aint so' =)

From the blue album - great album

  • Thanks dude, it does have a weezer sound to it :)

  • @17theused17 say it ain't so by weezer

  • As soon as he played the chorus I had flashbacks of me with a metalzone and a 15w amp when I was 14. Treble 12, Middle -12, bass 12. Thank god my ears grew out of that shit. That sounds awful.

  • You are so right! I felt exactly the same!

  • @TBMorvant

    same here. :D

  • @TBMorvant I can appreciate pretty much any tone from glassy clean to thick compressed juicy blues to feedbacky sonic youth tones. It's not something to grow out of, really. It's merely another color to paint with.

  • @bilbomarks i agree my friend very well put!!!

  • I just bought this guitar today and I am loving it! :-)

I love how you go to one extreme to the other,

You will be able to play a wider range of music with this guitar,

You can not beat the Price $249, its a steal!

  • wtf was that terrible distortion on the say it ain't so chorus about?

  • 0:54 , sounds like a bug

  • Guy likes Weezer eh.

  • I didnt know jesus played guitar

  • That's not Jesus, it's Peter Green.

  • someone help me which is better the custom 1 or the custom 2???? i like the p90 pickups, i just want to know which is better so please help me out

  • well both are the same quality wise which is great. (I have the humbucker one) my friends friend has this one and I played it twice so yea same feel. now with sound well the p90s are brighter. if you want like deeper sounding shit then get the custom 1. For brighter like between single coil and humbucker, then this one. hope you choose the right one for you ;)

  • thanx man idk which 1 i want still i want to be able to play everything on a guitar. i have a ibanez & when i play it, it feels like its just focusing on metal which is a bummer, cus i play everything from death metal to pop punk cus i listen to so many different types of music. so its hard to pick

  • haha thats my same exact problem ill just be chillin and playing like clean ass rockabilly shit with my strat then outa nowhere i wanna play heavy drop d (to lazy to change guitars) and then sum shit idk the jingle sounds funny on that guitar when playing shit like that. Iv been considering those guitars with the option of the split coil thing.....

  • yea i know what you mean. i was always energetic of a guitar player, & after a while i never want to put the guitars down. but its hard for me to pick what style of music i want to play for the rest of my life. but its hard to play other things with my ibanez cus its a metal brand. what i want now is like a les paul or something that can play everything so i dont have to buy others so idk what i want idk

  • thats the same problem here hmm who knows haha

  • yea who knows

  • well idk just remember the player makes the guitar umm... like if you play in a band then you know i find it easiest to stick to like one guitar or sumthing....well thats just me.......fuck idk where im going with this im bad at saying what im thinking haha. umm like i think what makes the sound is like 85% the amp you know (unless its single coils with 110% distortion gain the it sounds to messy for me) aaahh shit im bad at this haha

  • lol its cool. it is based on how you play. all these famous guiatr players will say its all in the guitar, the amp, the strings, the pickups, etc. when its really based on how you play. all of those things are just feautures to your talent. the way you play is what makes you the guitar player

  • Only a fool would think that.

Show me the way to that bin with a Custom II in it ..

Really not the best demo though , I'd admit ...

  • Speaking of fools, you do see quite a few on youtube. It is refreshing to find someone so talented that they can assess someone elses IQ from a single subjective statement. I hadn't realised that a Clinical Psychologist would be reading my post, much less one with either severely damaged ears or a chronic lack of taste.

  • You've got to try a few to get a really good one.

  • this tele..or the squier classic vibe 50's?

  • Both would be nice.

  • hey what wat the song you played at the begining ov the video and i like the guitar iv got a simelar guitar iv got a 1972 fender vitaige telicaster and i want to play that song so write back 2 me asap thanx

  • say it aint so by weezer

  • Say it ain't so by Weezer

  • Going for the Jerry Garcia look?
