How to dodge a Blue Shell in Co-op Mode:

Work up your MT to blue, then instead of releasing the control stick + MT at the same time (which works brilliantly in solo!), have your shooting partner punch away just after the Blue has finished hovering, and it will sail past you.

If you're being chased by a Blue and the driver in second place isn't far behind you, another nice trick is what we've affectionately dubbed the 'Top Gun' - brake as hard as you can and he'll get hit in the blast radius!

There's another way you can dodge a blue shell. If you hear it from somwhere, apply the brake, let your opponent get in front of you, and he will get hit. Thats what I did before.

i've only dodged 2 blue shells so far one with a turbo in rainbow road and one with the steering and i got so impressed and started screaming until i saw this video =/. oh and btw this also works with red shells

There are also places on certain tracks where blue shells will miss you without you even having to dodge them. For example, if the blue comes up to you while you are in the vertical section of Rainbow Road, it will miss as you exit.

I've dodged blue shells twice at Waluigi's Stadium and once at DK Jungle by very suddenly hitting a steep incline just as the shell is about to hit me. It couldn't cope with my sudden change in height, so it went underneath me.

Every time a blue shell comes up to me I attempt this technique. I have succeeded once, on Yoshi Circuit. The rest of the times ... BOOM!

while you're drifting move the control stick in the opposite direction of the drift (if you're drifting left, flick the control stick right a few times) until you see red and blue flames. once the flames turn blue let go and your top speed will increase for a second or two.

I'm pretty sure all of this is spelled out in the instruction manual that comes with the game :)

Apparently this doesn't always work or something. I tried this on Luigi Circuit and always got hit off the ramp or against a bad turn. You have to be exceedingly lucky to be at the right place and to let go at the proper millisecond. The game is inconsistent with warning you when the blue shell is behind you and attack.

well, the best way (for me) to learn boosting with a mini turbo is

1- Drift to the way you need

2- Move the analog stick back and forth ONCE, that's to see the flames changing colours

3- Repeat until the flames turn blue

4- Release R or L.

I reccomend practicing in PJ64 to get the timing.

PD: if your drift angle is high, just moving a little bit the stick back and forth will do, resulting on an fast mini turbo. Hope that helped.
