Meryl still keeps John in her heart. That's where she gets her inspiration in acting knowing someone out there is guiding her aside from her parents. That's why Meryl is that person now, so intelligent, witty, and grounded. Watching this documentary I learned that John Cazale would have been a truly brilliant actor as he ever was. Thanks for this.
The fact that he didn't win any Oscars or was even nominated shows that a piece of metal means nothing when you bring to the table AMAZING, TALENTED performances like Cazale did. RIP John.
@llswanbe He Produced this documentary. Hears what Google says:
"The Wall Street Journal: How did you get involved in producing this film?
I got a call from Richard, the director, who said he’d read some articles in which I said that my favorite actor was John Cazale. He said would you be interested in doing movie? I said of course."
Amazing actor. Just think of all the great roles he could have had. Good to see how much DeNiro, Pacino, Coppola admired him. I also love Pacino's story about Streep.
For some reason, the "lend me your spares" scene in Deer Hunter reminds me of the "go to lunch" scene in Glengarry Glen Ross.
when pacino talks about meryl sticking by john's side till the end you could see that this was a real moment for him talking about it, i mean seeing pacino not act and really be moved made a tear come to my eye, truely a wonderful lady meryl is
@Shelby596 thats because they award for a good performance by the actor not for the best performance of the year-if it want like that deniro and pacino would each have 5 more at least
@Cluebert What's even a greater shame is that he hasn't received a posthumous honorary Oscar. Its not as if this was just a guy who happened to star in 5 great films alongside other actors we've heard of. I still think he's the most underrated film actor of all time.
Thank you, Thank you, Thank you!!!!!! As a True fan of film I cannot thank you enough for posting this wonderful film on someone who was arguable one of the best character actors of all time. Deeper than anyone would have ever thought. More talented tan the pillars he acted next to. All of this is my opinion of course and one can only agree to disagree. thank you again CompletePinkFloyd.
This is GREAT. Imagine all his movies and they were all Best Picture nominees...and to have these influential and legendary actors [DeNiro, Streep, Pacino] talk about him and his influence on them! He was definitely a wonderful actor and maybe the only actor that I can truly say that I love every film he ever made. THANK YOU for uploading this!!!!!!
Thank you so very much for this upload. This guy "stole" every movie he was in and it's about time people knew his name. He was a lot more than "Fredo". Thanks.

John's poor brother breaks my heart in this film. I imagine he looks a lot like how John would look if he were still alive.

The Oscars suck so bad. So bad. Pacino had to wait until 7 nominations passed to win for Scent of a Woman and Cazale was never nominated. So stupid.

wonderful job uploading this. It is a worthy celebration of one of the best underrated actors of all time.
I have a small collection of dvds full of movies, sorted by genre or directors. The only compilation I made dedicated to an actor is his.
Thanks!
